LOL: Do I have to be a spinning top too?

Chapter 8: The Joy of Being Spinned by a Top, and a Sunny Day

When Qingtian patted his chest and said this, Li Hu almost couldn't hold back.

Trained? You're just using me as a spinning top to whip me.

But what he said was a completely different story:

"Brother Qingtian, how about... we practice now?"

Sunny's eyes lit up instantly.

Li Hu had seen that kind of light countless times at the top of the canyon...

A player who has been benched for more than half a year and hasn't played a proper training match.

Hearing the word "practice" now makes me even more excited than Jack loves "getting a Q".

"Walk!"

Qingtian grabbed Li Hu's arm, turned around and shouted at Zhou Xiang:

"Instructor Zhou, can I borrow someone's phone? I'll return it to you in a bit!"

Before Zhou Xiang could reply, the elevator doors had already closed.

The training room for the first team was a whole circle larger than the one for the second team.

Seven or eight top-of-the-line desktop computers were not turned on, and two unopened boxes of Nongfu Spring water were piled up in the corner.

Since it is currently the off-season for transfers, ZuoShou has officially announced his departure from TES, and most of the other first-team members are not currently at the TES base.

Qingtian pressed Li Hu to a camera position.

He walked around to the opposite side, sat down, and logged in faster than someone instantly locking in Yasuo in a real-money ranked game.

"Come on, 1v1, let me see what you're really made of."

He rubbed his hands together, a signature goofy grin on his face.

He'd been sitting on the bench for half a year, barely getting a chance to play in training matches, and he was so bored he was practically growing hair.

I finally caught a newcomer who came to my door today, so if I don't give him a good beating, I'll be letting down the name of General Sunny Day.

"Darren has been on a good shooting streak lately, so I'll play against him with you."

Qingtian spoke casually, but the corners of her mouth were turned up so wide she couldn't suppress it.

Li Hu entered a custom room and glanced at the golden illustration floating on the side of his view.

Darius's progress bar...22%.

Source: A combined beating by over a dozen top-ranked Darius players on the Challenger tier.

"Okay, Brother Qingtian, be gentle."

"Don't worry, I'm the best at taking care of people."

Sunny laughed like a 300-pound child...

Lock up Noxus's Hand.

Without hesitation, Li Hu locked up the Desert Butcher.

Two tough guys in the top lane, no fancy stuff, just pure manly combat.

When the loading screen appeared, the two of them simultaneously bought a Doran's Blade and a Red Potion and left the house.

The rules for 1v1 need no further explanation...

One blood, one tower, one hundred CS – this is an old tradition among professional players, as deeply ingrained as the idea that reaching the semifinals of the World Championship constitutes a success.

Before the minion waves even clashed, Qingtian sensed something was wrong.

This crocodile learns Q at level 1, positions himself to the side of a melee minion, and takes advantage of the minion's first last-hit animation to unleash a small burst of AQA, then immediately pulls back after the attack, a smooth and seamless move.

Darius's Q was unleashed with devastating force, hitting its target, but Bloodrage only stacked once... Renekton had already retreated to the outer edge of the circle.

"Wow, that's pretty fierce." Sunny raised an eyebrow.

Having been in the professional scene for so many years, he's seen countless newcomers.

Most of the trial participants were timid and hesitant when facing experienced players, preferring to hide under the tower and gain experience.

A crocodile that dares to pressure Darius's lane at level one?

Either they're mentally deficient or they're actually quite capable.

Li Hu didn't say anything, focusing intently on the minion wave's health.

In his previous life, when he was on the bench in the secondary league, he would study the laning habits of LPL top laners whenever he had free time.

Sunny Darius had a lot of victories in the 21 Summer Split, dominating the laning phase, but he tended to get lost in mid-game team fights...

A typical lane bully, he's incredibly strong in lane, but incredibly lost in team fights.

So if you want to beat his Darius, you have to beat him in lane.

When the second wave of minions arrived, both players reached level two almost simultaneously.

Sunny Day instantly learns W Cripple Strike and prepares to unleash a standard AWAQ combo.

Li Hu was faster than him.

The crocodile uses its E to charge straight at Darius's face, followed by an A and a red-rage Q for Tyrant's Fury, unleashing a full combo. The second E then charges straight at Darius, slamming him into Darius's face and pulling him back out of the Q's range.

Sunny held onto W but couldn't get a chance to apply it, watching helplessly as the crocodile swaggered away, his health already reduced by nearly two hundred points.

"Where did you learn to pull like that?" Qingtian's smile faded.

"A passerby at the top of the canyon," Li Hu said truthfully.

"Who taught you how to play Renekton at level two and pressure Darius?"

"Are you out of your mind?"

Li Hu didn't respond.

It can't be that the system automatically came up with this conclusion after he was repeatedly hit by a dozen or so Darius players from the Chinese server.

Over the next three minutes, Qing Tian became increasingly alarmed.

This crocodile's laning phase details are too sophisticated.

When should we perform a blood transfusion, and when should we release the blood?

Always hold onto your Red Fury Q the instant your outer Q cooldown is ready to counter-attack.

Always save a portion of your E skill to dodge the outer edge of your Q skill.

Every decision was made with such precision that it was as if a full-view perspective was available.

Finally, with the arrival of level six clear skies, I seized the opportunity.

Just as Li Hu finished his initial animation of finishing off the cannon minion, an iron chain was flung out of Darius's hand... Ruthless Iron Hand!

"Got you!"

Sunny grinned.

E pulls you in, A follows up with W to cripple and apply a slow, then Q on the outer ring unleashes a devastating attack that fills the entire stack, instantly stacking Bloodrage to three layers.

Darius chased after Renekton relentlessly, and the Crippling Strike's slow effect greatly reduced the distance of Renekton's E skill dash. Darius caught up to the tower and delivered another blow, stacking his Bloodrage to the maximum.

Noxus Guillotine!

With a single swing of the axe, the crocodile fell in front of its own tower.

"Haha, still young!" Qing Tian laughed from across the table.

Li Hu stared at the gray screen, but the corners of his mouth were turning up.

On the side of the view, golden illustrations are flooding the screen:

"Host detected being solo-killed by Darius in lane; currently learning from the opponent's champion..."

"Absorption progress +0.12%"

"Judgment: The opponent's E skill was released precisely within the 0.3-second window of the host's last-hit animation, and the outer edge of the Q skill's angle predicted the host's movement habits."

"Comparative analysis: This opponent's Darius proficiency is significantly higher than the known data sources in the Chinese server. It is recommended to increase the intensity of the DPS."

Li Hu wanted to give the system the middle finger, but being solo killed only made him give it more force. This system's attitude was even more disgusting than a certain online commentator's.

But he knew in his heart that the loss just now was not unjust.

The artillery vehicle shouldn't be eaten.

More importantly, he pushed the lane too far, giving Darius a chasing distance of half a screen.

In the eyes of professional players, this kind of mistake is called "feeding".

This is the intensity of a profession.

Every mistake will be seized upon, and every detail will be magnified.

"Again!" Li Hu quit and restarted.

Qingtian was already waiting on the other side, her forehead beaded with sweat, but her eyes were frighteningly bright.

Over the next hour and a half, Li Hu received three different kinds of "heroic education" from Qing Tian.

Darius beats Renekton, Sunny wins three straight games.

Crocodile vs. Darius, Sunny uses Li Hu's champion to teach a counter-attack tutorial, two consecutive wins.

Gnar vs. Aatrox, Sunny will win.

Although Li Hu was playing with these heroes he wasn't familiar with, he was being relentlessly whipped around like a spinning top.

But as he watched the progress of his hero encyclopedia increase, he felt quite pleased with himself.

Darius's stats: 22% → 24.8%.

Sword Demon's stats: 11% → 14%.

Nar's stats: 8% → 10%.

Whip, the substitute top laner for an LPL team.

It's more than ten times more efficient than playing ranked games.

Li Hu silently memorized this data.

Being solo-killed by a professional player once is equivalent to absorbing the same amount of knowledge as being killed five times by a random player.

This isn't being whipped like a top; this is getting paid to attend LoL elementary school.

"The last round!"

High-intensity solo play puts a tremendous strain on a large stomach.

The temperature had already reached red in the sun, and I wiped the sweat from my forehead again and again.

"You choose your best champion, I'll take Darius. It'll be a fight to the death."

"OK."

Li Hu flexed his wrist and instantly locked onto Camille.

Even on a sunny day, Darius remains the best.

This game lasted a full fourteen minutes.

Li Hu's Camille used her passive shield to trade damage, her E skill hook to pull, and her W skill tactical sweep to harass Darius, making Darius extremely annoyed.

Several times, Sunny used her E skill, Merciless Iron Fist, to pull Camille's hook, but Camille's grappling hook had already been pinned to the wall and flown away.

"You, Blue Steel Shadow, are more annoying than a dog's head!" Sunny shouted from across the way.

Li Hu smiled: "Brother Qingtian, you flatter me."

But in the sixth level wave, Qingtian made an absolutely professional-level play.

The moment Camille hooked onto the wall, Darius anticipated the landing point, and the chain yanked Camille off the wall mid-air.

A followed by W crippling strike, then Q on the outer ring unleashes devastating attacks until fully charged, and Li Hu flashes when Bloodrage reaches four stacks.

Sunny Day followed with a flash, unleashing five layers of Blood Rage with a single slash, and the guillotine fell.

The steel figure fell beneath the tower.

"Absorption progress +0.1%"

"Your Flash E is really fast, I can't react in time." Li Hu exclaimed sincerely, his tone filled with genuine gratitude.

Sunny wiped away her sweat, and a simple smile returned to her face:

"Just practice more, don't be discouraged!"

"Those who don't die will eventually rise to the top."

"Once you officially join the team, I'll train with you every day."

"real?"

Li Hu's eyes lit up, and he blurted out:

"Brother Qingtian, you're such a kind person!"

He likes to be friends with honest people like that.

Being able to be spun around like a top every day and get stronger every day is just... so cool!

Qingtian was taken aback by his reaction.

He's seen people who were resentful after being solo-killed, whose mentality collapsed, and who stubbornly insisted on playing another game.

But even after being spun around six times in a row, he still sincerely praised his opponent as a good person...

This is the first one yet.

This kid... isn't there something a little off about him?

Could it be that he wouldn't?

But Qingtian didn't have time to think it through, because Li Hu had already started the next game.

"Brother Qingtian, you just said you're good at playing Fiora, right?"

"I'm not very good at Fiora, can you teach me?"

"Sure!"

Sunny's craving for online battles has been reignited:

"My Fiora skills may not be as good as those one-trick ponies, but I'm more than capable of playing in the Challenger tier."

Li Hu glanced down at the pitiful 12% statistic for Sword Maiden in the character guide, then looked at Qing Tian's honest and simple face, and felt a silent surge of emotion.
