I became a farmer in the apocalypse.

Lin An had no choice but to take Qiao Wu to the vegetable garden.

There was only Jiang Li inside.

Before she even got close, Qiao Wu saw a large green ball of light crouching on the ground.

"Who is this? Why did you bring someone with you?" Jiang Li got up, put down her hoe, and walked towards the two people with a puzzled look.

Qiao Wu stared blankly as the ball of light walked towards her.

No?

Was that ball of light actually a person?

As Jiang Li approached, Qiao Wu saw the ball of light disappear and her vision return to normal, allowing her to see Jiang Li's face clearly.

"What are you here for?" Jiang Li was also staring at Qiao Wu.

Qiao Wu hurriedly said, "I came to find you!"

Jiang Li: "You came to see me?"

She couldn't help but have a doubt.

Could this person be the "employee" the system selected for her?

Qiao Wu explained, "Well, some strange things happened to me."

Jiang Li: "Tell me about it."

Could anything be stranger than what happened to her?

She experienced three time travels, each time arriving at a world on the verge of collapse: a martial arts world overrun by demons, a modern world invaded by aliens, and a world in crisis. Finally, she arrived in the apocalypse and enjoyed a few days of peace.

She has no other desires in this life but to cultivate her own small plot of land well.

Jiang Li learned from Lin An that her name was Qiao Wu, the new wood-type ability user that Lu Mingjue had mentioned.

She noticed that Qiao Wu didn't look well; her lips were pale, and she seemed a bit weak.

Jiang Li led her into the safe house, gave her a stool to sit on, and poured her a cup of hot water.

Qiao Wu held the wooden cup and looked around. "I don't know if awakening a superpower is a good thing. It seems that the side effects of wood-type superpowers are quite significant. I only nurtured a seed at the research institute, and I feel my physical strength plummeting. My hands start to tremble involuntarily."

Jiang Li was familiar with the situation she was describing. "It's probably because you've just awakened, and your superpowers aren't fully developed yet. In this case, just eat more."

"Eat more food?" Qiao Wu asked, puzzled.

Jiang Li handed her two steamed buns, "Fill your stomach first, and see if it makes you feel better."

Whenever she overexerts herself, eating two steamed buns helps.

"Thanks."

I ate some steamed buns with warm water, and the discomfort did indeed ease a bit.

How do you know that eating can alleviate this condition?

Jiang Li: "Because I am also a wood-type ability user, we are the same kind of people."

Qiao Wu was surprised to hear this. "So, all those thriving plants I saw along the way were grown by you using your superpowers?"

Jiang Li nodded.

Qiao Wu's eyes lit up!

"You're amazing! I struggle to even get a single seed to grow, and you've managed to grow so many plants. I even saw an apple tree."

Jiang Li: "It's just because I awakened earlier and leveled up faster. Wood-type abilities can level up by eating, so you should eat more in the future."

"By the way, what's this green orb you mentioned earlier?"

Qiao Wu told the whole story.

Jiang Li was surprised, "You have the same sensory abilities as me?"

Qiao Wu nodded. Jiang Li was still on her online image, but it was no longer flashing; it was now a very large green dot, bigger than any plant.

Moreover, after getting closer to Jiang Li, she felt a little sleepy.

"Sorry, I haven't slept for days. Can I sleep here for a while?"

Jiang Li looked at her dark circles and said, "Okay, there's a bed in the room. You can go in and rest for a while."

The resource reward box is still by the bedside, but it's now linked to her, so there's no need to worry about Qiao Wu taking anything from it.

Qiao Wu lay on Jiang Li's small wooden bed and fell into a deep sleep.

Lin An followed Jiang Li out of the safe house. "I didn't even know you had the ability to find plants."

Jiang Li: "This ability is only used when searching for resources; it's rarely used at other times."

"Then, what about the one inside? Why do she see you as a plant?"

Jiang Li didn't know either.

She had just picked up an employee handbook from the bed in the room. She hadn't been able to look at it in front of Qiao Wu, but she was taking it out to read it now.

Like the beverage making manual, it only has one page.

Please read this manual carefully to understand the relationship between farmers and their employees.

Below is a rough sketch.

The first line depicts a stick figure with the words "Jiang Li" written on its belly; this figure represents her.

Then below is a row of copies.

Exactly like her, the first person's name is already known, "Qiao Wu". Each clone is connected to her by a straight line, but they look shorter than her.

[Your employee is a clone of you, possessing the same abilities, but their maximum stamina is only 20%, and their stamina does not regenerate on its own. They need to consume one Wood-type nutrient solution daily to restore their stamina.]

[Nutritional solution is now available for purchase in the Gold Coin Shop, priced at 10 Gold Coins per bottle.]

[The parent system is singular, but the number of clones is unlimited. The system is currently still developing more clones; please wait patiently for other employees to be created...]

If you are dissatisfied with an employee, you can unilaterally dismiss them. The system will then reclaim your copying ability and find a more suitable employee for you.

To run a successful farm, treat your employees well. After all, who else can grow more plants for you besides them?

This manual explains things quite clearly.

So, is the reason she felt her energy levels had decreased recently because the system had stolen some of it and given it to Qiao Wu?

Such a big thing, and the system didn't even tell her.

Now, Jiang Li only wants to ask one question: Does the planting process consume her own energy? If so, then the existence of the employees seems to have little purpose.

A line of text slowly appeared on the manual:

[Employees rely on physical strength for planting, not energy. They only need nutrient solution to restore their strength. Employees only borrow a portion of the host's energy as their strength once at birth, and this is a necessary operation for the system to develop employees. Please be aware of this.]

Jiang Li understood.

Therefore, as long as there are enough gold coins, even if she runs out of energy for the day, she can still have her employees use their physical strength to plant.

An employee's stamina cap is 20%, meaning that five employees are equivalent to one of her.

Moreover, if you are dissatisfied with an employee, you can dismiss them at any time without being tied to them indefinitely.

But here's the problem: Jiang Li herself is short of gold coins, so where would she get the gold coins to support an employee? Supporting an employee costs 10 gold coins per day!

Upon opening the money bag, they found five gold coins.

Very good, it's only enough to support half an employee.

Then I opened the system store and clicked on the Money Tree.

It's that familiar line of text.

[Money Tree: Want your money to make money grow? Then buy a money tree! Don't doubt it, it really can shake out money.]

Price: 9999 Gold Coins

She desperately needs a money tree right now.
