The rugged karst island stands alone above the vast blue sea.
The entire island is barren and desolate, with steep cliffs and strange rocks everywhere. Only on the small area at the summit, a few scattered plants grow, barely breaking free from the confinement of the stubborn rocks.
A handsome young man stood quietly atop the cliff, his white toga being torn apart by the fierce sea wind, his posture upright and his eyes gentle.
He is Kanas.
He is the son of Oros, the god of the east wind, and belongs to the lineage of the Titans, possessing noble blood.
His grandfather was Astraeus, the god of the stars, who is now one of the high-ranking officials of the Titans.
The grandmother is Eos, the goddess of dawn.
The two combined to give birth to a host of wind gods and star gods.
These gods all inherited some of the powers of their father, Astraeus, the god of the stars.
His father, Euros, the god of the east wind, was one of them.
Strictly speaking, Euros's divine office should be called the "God of the Winds," and he shared a divine office with his three brothers—Nnothos the South Wind, Zephyrus the West Wind, and Boreas the North Wind.
The south wind Notos brings the humid rainy season, the west wind Zephyrus gently sends forth warm sunshine, the north wind Boreas carries the biting frost, and the east wind god Euros governs the warm spring winds and rains, and controls the rising warm and moist air currents.
Only when all four are combined can one become the complete God of Wind.
Logically speaking, as a member of the pantheon under the God of the Stars, Kanas should have been born with the divine nature of wind and become a god.
But Kanas is an exception.
From the moment of his birth, he bore no trace of divinity. Apart from a superhuman body refined by divine power, he was no different from an ordinary mortal.
For beings like Kanas, there is a special term in this world—demigod!
It is not Daimon. Daimon, like the Nymph, is a spirit that exists between gods and humans.
Demigods, on the other hand, tend to be more inclined to be "gods".
Of course, this mediocrity is only from the perspective of the gods.
During the Golden Age under the rule of Cronus, mortals were weak and simple, while the Titans were born superior to all living beings.
The essence of life, power, and lifespan of Kanas far surpass those of all humankind.
In the Titans, where gods abound and authority reigns supreme, he is the lowest of the low, the most laughable blank and flawed being among the gods.
If it weren't for the loving heart of the father god Eurus, who showed no disgust whatsoever, this nameless and powerless demigod would have long been abandoned on earth to fend for himself.
The birth of Kanas was an accident.
In the past, when Euros was waging war, divine blood was spilled on the earth and blended into the soil and stone of Gaia. The two merged and nurtured each other, which gave birth to him in his innocent beginnings.
In terms of bloodline, he is the offspring of Gaia, the Earth Mother Goddess, and Oros, the East Wind God, a dual lineage that seems to grant him nobility.
Gaia, who gave birth to all things and had countless offspring, never looked upon this frail body devoid of divinity and authority.
Only Euros noticed the faint life quietly growing within the earth and brought the still-unaware child back to Karst Island, where he was carefully protected.
An embryo hatches, and life begins.
Euros named him Kanas, meaning "son of the wind," expressing his high hopes for him.
But soon, the god who controlled the east wind discovered that his offspring had no divinity whatsoever.
Even so, Euros never gave up.
He personally used his primordial divine power to repeatedly refine Kanas's physical body, forging it into a demigod form, allowing him to have a place in a perilous world and possess the most basic power to protect himself.
After doing all this, Euros bid farewell to his young son and visited relatives and friends, all to help Kanas become a true god.
From then on, only Kanas remained on the isolated island.
As a child, he was devoted to his father and stood atop the cliff day after day.
Every day at dawn, Helios drives his sun chariot to rise in the east and break the day, and he rises to watch over the world.
Every evening, as the sun sets and the sky falls silent, he quietly retreats back to his cave to rest.
As time flows slowly, the shackles of memories hidden deep in our blood gradually shatter.
Complete world rules, divine court hierarchy, celestial order, racial information—a vast amount of knowledge flooded into Kanas's consciousness, allowing him to see the true nature of this world.
This is the world of Chaos!
The world's creatures are strictly hierarchical, with insurmountable barriers rising from the bottom up.
Mortal, Nymph/Demonic, Demigod, Weak Divine Power, Low-Level Divine Power, Medium-Level Divine Power, High-Level Divine Power, Powerful Divine Power, God-King, Primordial God.
The number of gods is small, far less than that of mortals and the mainstream beings such as nymphs and deities.
Yet these few gods hold the power of life and death over heaven and earth, high above, looking down upon all living beings.
Countless living beings struggle and drift, all living in the shadow of the gods.
Having seen through all of this, Kanas felt an endless longing arise in his heart.
He also wanted to seize power, ascend to godhood, and become one of the ruling classes of this world.
But he had nothing.
Even this demigod's body was forged using the divine power of the Father God.
"The only thing we can do now is wait for the Father to return."
Kanas murmured silently, placing all his hopes on the departing Euros.
This wait lasted for decades.
A demigod needs neither food nor sleep; for him, time is merely a long, lonely flow.
He had traveled all over the karst island, but this isolated island was nothing but jumbled rocks and barren cliffs, with no land of interest and nothing new.
Over time, he stopped wandering around and stood on the cliff top every day, watching the wind.
He increasingly preferred the wind from higher places.
The biting sea breeze brushed against his body, as if it could soothe all the confusion and loneliness in his heart, allowing him to find the only solace in the desolate years.
Countless days and nights passed, and finally one day, a wisp of warm cloud drifted in from the distant horizon where the sea and sky met, carrying a familiar and gentle scent, piercing through the vast blue sea and mist.
Kanas's eyes suddenly lit up.
It's Euros! His father god!
In an instant, the clouds drifted across the sky, and the god of the east wind, Eurus, landed on the cliff top. Looking at his young son who had waited for him for decades, his eyes were filled with burning longing and guilt. He bent down and hugged him tightly.
Decades may pass in the blink of an eye for a god, but for Kanas, who has been living alone on the island since birth, it has been a long and agonizing life.
A warm embrace, a brief reminiscing, and the doubts and expectations that had been building up in their hearts for decades finally surfaced.
Kanas looked up and asked softly:
"My revered Father God, during your long journey, have you found a way to enable your child to embark on the divine path?"
He had lived on a remote island for a long time, was naive to the ways of the world, and spoke bluntly without any tact.
But this pure expectation made Euros's heart sink, and the joy on his face instantly faded, turning into a deep sense of loneliness and self-blame.
As the god of wind, Euros had a wide network of connections.
But nowadays, almost all of the Titans are gods from birth.
Where would they find a way for mortals to become gods?
Even if they did, they would not allow a lowly mortal to set foot in the domain of their noble gods.
Therefore, Euros gained very little from this trip.
Looking into his young son's gentle and pure eyes, the sigh that was on the tip of Oros's tongue ultimately turned into a gentle word of comfort.
"Kanas~ my gentle child, I'm so sorry, I have let you down."
