Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night
Chapter 217 "Dare to kidnap Master Jia's men!?"
The two SUVs at the street corner slowly approached.
The tires rolled over the wet cobblestones, crushing the shallow water and splashing mud onto the wooden steps of the shops along the street. The car was covered in dust from its long journey, and a few rain-beaten leaves clung to the windshield, clearly indicating that it hadn't just entered the city that morning.
Sheng Kun held the bowl, his face still bearing that unserious smile.
But the hand gripping the rim of the bowl tightened slightly without anyone noticing.
"Don't look back." He said in a very low voice, his lips barely moving.
Shi Luyu had already turned halfway around, but upon hearing this, she lowered her eyes as if nothing had happened, picked up a spoon, and gently stirred the bowl.
"Xu Yuanjia's men?" That was the only guess in her mind.
"Not necessarily." Sheng Kun remained calm.
He tilted his head back and took a sip of soup, his gaze sweeping across the street corner, partially obscured by the rim of the bowl.
The first car didn't stop. The window was only half down, and a man with his hat pulled low sat in the passenger seat.
He rested one hand on the windowsill, his gaze sweeping coldly out from the shadows, slowly passing over the street stalls, doorways, and passersby, as if checking something one by one.
His gaze wasn't urgent, but it carried a clear sense of scrutiny.
Wherever it went, even the originally noisy vendors subconsciously fell silent.
The second car followed a little further away.
It was driving at a steady speed along the long street, but when it reached the inn, it suddenly turned around without warning.
The car veered half a foot off the wet, slippery stone road, its tires screeching as they rubbed against the ground.
The sudden screech of brakes shattered the early morning.
The wheels crashed heavily into the puddles on the roadside.
"Splash—"
The murky water suddenly surged up, splashing onto the steps in front of the door and even wetting half of a wooden table under the eaves.
A few withered leaves were swept up by the water flow and stuck to the car door, then slid down with the muddy water.
The people who had been chatting and laughing in the inn all stopped at the same time.
The proprietress stood behind the counter, bowl in hand, her smile gradually fading. Several diners by the door slowly turned their heads, their gazes falling unanimously on the mud-splattered SUV.
The long street seemed to have been suddenly silenced, with only the raindrops still dripping from the eaves, pattering onto the stone steps. Sheng Kun's eyelids twitched.
He was still standing by the table, holding two bowls in his hands, but his mind was already racing.
If the people who came were really sent by the Xu family to search for people, there shouldn't have been only two cars.
It shouldn't be done so blatantly.
But if not—
The driver's side door had been pushed open from the inside.
Chai also jumped off the car.
He had clearly just traveled a long way; his clothes were dusty, his cuffs were damp, and a look of restlessness from lack of sleep hung over his face. After getting off the bus, he glanced down at his phone, seemingly troubled by the signal, and muttered something under his breath.
Sheng Kun felt a sense of relief upon recognizing the person who had arrived.
The next second, it was suddenly lifted up again.
Oh shit.
Why did it have to be this ancestor?
Chai also raised his head, his gaze unconsciously sweeping into the inn.
He had only glanced at it casually at first. The next second, however, his gaze was suddenly fixed on something.
A familiar figure sat by the window in the corridor.
Shi Luyu wore an indigo headscarf, a common feature among local women, which covered her long, black hair, leaving only her fair and gentle face visible.
The long dress she wore was a somber color, with the hem reaching her ankles, which concealed most of her original air of nobility.
If it weren't for the fact that his face was so striking, at first glance he could almost blend in with the locals of Mei Ning.
Chai stopped abruptly, as if he hadn't realized for a moment how he could see her here.
He stared for a full two seconds, his brows furrowing little by little, his eyes first showing surprise, then a fleeting hint of doubt.
Why is Shi Luyu in Mei Ning?
Why are you dressed like this?
and many more.
Chai's gaze suddenly shifted, following her side.
Sheng Kun was standing by the table, holding two bowls of hot soup, his body slightly turned towards Shi Luyu. On the table was a string of white flowers, and next to it was half a peeled egg, and even the chopsticks were neatly placed beside her.
No matter how you look at it, it's incredibly attentive.
No matter how you look at it, something just doesn't seem right.
Especially considering Sheng Kun's familiarity with the place, it seemed as if he had been staying there with her for more than one night.
The string in Chai Ye's mind snapped.
The air was silent for a moment.
Before the people in the inn could figure out what had happened, Chai's face suddenly darkened.
"Holy shit!" His curse was urgent and loud.
The chickens that were pecking at food by the door were startled and scattered, flapping their wings.
Chai strode across the threshold, his wet boots leaving a trail of muddy footprints on the wooden floor. He exuded the irritability and murderous intent of someone who had been traveling, his eyes fixed on Sheng Kun as if he wanted to skin him alive.
"Sheng Kun, you son of a bitch, you're asking for it!"
Sheng Kun was still holding the soup and didn't have a chance to speak for a moment.
Chai had already swiftly lifted his shirt, wrapped his arm around his waist, and moved with almost no pause. A metallic scraping sound rang out as he pulled out the dark gun, its muzzle pointing directly at Sheng Kun.
Several gasps of surprise rippled through the crowd.
The proprietress's expression changed, and she subconsciously took half a step back from the counter. Several diners sitting by the door also stood up, their eyes darting back and forth between the two women.
Chai, however, acted as if he hadn't seen it at all.
The veins on the back of his hand gripping the gun bulged, his anger almost entirely written on his face, and he gritted his teeth and cursed:
"You fucking dare to kidnap Master Jia's men!"
Sheng Kun looked down at the soup in his hand, then at the wreath and eggs on the table, and his expression immediately became indescribable.
This scene.
It does seem a bit difficult to explain.
