Border Prisoner: The Mad Boss Seduces Her Every Night
Chapter 57 My Brother is Thirsty
The scarred man grabbed Xu Yuanjia's arm and half-dragged, half-supported him, leading him toward the armored vehicle.
Xu Yuanjia's right leg was soaked with blood, and every step he took left dark footprints in the mud, but his expression remained normal, and he didn't even lean his weight on Scarface.
"Medic! Call the medic over here!" Scarface yelled behind him, his voice so loud that the entire camp could hear it.
Shi Luyu staggered along beside him, reaching out to help Xu Yuanjia's other arm. The moment her hand touched his sleeve, the scarred man glanced at her, his gaze hard and cold, filled with undisguised impatience.
"The military doctor needs a quiet treatment environment. Go to another car." The scarred man's tone wasn't harsh, but his aloofness was more embarrassing than a reprimand.
Shi Luyu's hand froze in mid-air, her lips moved, but before she could speak, a voice came from inside the car.
"Chai Ye."
The tone was casual, but the moment those two words were uttered, it was as if a string in the air had been tightened.
Scarface's shoulder tensed almost imperceptibly, and a thin layer of sweat appeared on his forehead. He glanced quickly into the car.
I understood immediately.
He has no right to disrespect this woman.
Chai also turned to Shi Luyu, lowering his voice and adopting a completely respectful posture: "Please get in the car."
Shi Luyu was puzzled, but she didn't have time to think about it and bent down to get into the car.
The car door closed, shutting out most of the noise outside.
Xu Yuanjia leaned back in his seat, his right leg outstretched, blood trickling down his trouser leg and pooling into a small puddle on the edge of the leather seat.
Shi Luyu knelt beside him, reaching out to touch his wound but not daring to, her fingertips trembling slightly above his thigh, tears falling silently.
Xu Yuanjia turned his head to look at her.
He had lost a lot of blood, and his lips were pale, but the light in his eyes had not faded at all.
His eyes were full of leisurely enjoyment, almost as if he were admiring a precious collection that belonged only to him.
There was a light knock on the car window from the outside; it was the military doctor who had arrived.
"Bring in the first-aid kit," Xu Yuanjia said. "The person doesn't need to come in."
Shi Luyu was stunned: "Brother, you're injured. Let the army doctor..."
Xu Yuanjia didn't reply. Chai had already passed the medical kit in through the window. The green kit landed on the seat, the metal buckles making a crisp sound.
Xu Yuanjia opened the box, took out a pair of surgical forceps and a roll of gauze, and then took out a small bottle of iodine and a painkiller injection. He glanced at the painkiller injection and casually tossed it back into the box.
"Brother, at least give me some painkillers..."
"Your hands will shake if you dig too hard," he interrupted her, his tone as indifferent as if he were commenting on the nice weather. "You won't be able to dig accurately if your hands shake."
Shi Luyu's face was even paler than his.
Xu Yuanjia loosened his belt and pulled his pants down a bit.
Blood had stuck the fabric and skin together. He frowned slightly as he tore it apart, but didn't make a sound.
The wound was exposed on the outside of the thigh. The bullet was embedded in the muscle, surrounded by a ring of charred black burns. Blood seeped out from the bullet hole, leaving dark red streaks on the skin.
He picked up the iodine solution, unscrewed the cap, and poured it directly onto the affected area.
A clear liquid mixed with blood oozed from the edge of the wound, flowing down his thigh. Xu Yuanjia's temple throbbed, his jaw tightened, and his Adam's apple bobbed once.
His hands didn't tremble at all.
Shi Luyu opened her eyes wide and covered her mouth.
He picked up the surgical forceps and probed into the wound.
The silvery-white metal instrument sank into his flesh. He adjusted the angle slightly, and the tip of the pincers moved under the skin. Each movement pulled on the muscle fibers of his thigh.
Sweat seeped from his forehead, trickling down his brow bone and into the corners of his eyes, and his chest heaved noticeably more.
"Brother...can we have the army doctor come...?" Shi Luyu's voice broke into several pieces.
Xu Yuanjia did not answer.
The tip of the pliers touched something. He paused for a moment, took a deep breath, and forcefully pried it out with his wrist.
A deformed bullet was pulled out and fell into the stainless steel tray with a dull clatter.
Blood gushed from the empty trajectory of the bullet, faster and more violently than before.
Shi Luyu finally couldn't hold back anymore, and suddenly turned her head, pressing her forehead against the car window, her face covered in tears.
She dared not look, but she heard the surgical forceps fall onto the tray, the gauze tear open, and the breath he let out from deep in his throat after suppressing it to the extreme.
A blood-stained hand reached out, pinched her chin, and gently turned her face back.
Xu Yuanjia's face was inches away. Sweat dampened his forehead hair, a few strands of black hair hung above his brow bone, and his face was so white it was almost transparent, but his eyes were still very bright, as bright as a fire burning in the dark night.
"Lulu, look at me."
His voice was lower than usual, weak from blood loss, but the unyielding tone remained unchanged: "I want you to see this. This is the wound I sustained for you."
He wiped away the tears on her face with his thumb.
"Look at me, I'm not in that much pain."
Shi Luyu's tears fell even harder. She sobbed and nodded frantically.
Xu Yuanjia lowered his head again, tore open the sterile gauze, and stuffed it into the ballistic cavity to stop the bleeding. His movements were swift and efficient, as if it were his first time doing this.
Pour iodine solution on the wound again, then wrap the wound with gauze, making sure to apply even pressure, and finally secure the end with tape.
The whole process took less than three minutes.
He leaned back in his seat, closed his eyes briefly, and when he opened them again, he had returned to his usual nonchalant demeanor.
"Don't worry." He reached out and ruffled her hair. "I controlled the shot; I didn't break any bones."
Shi Luyu sniffed, rummaged through the box for a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap, and carefully held it to his lips. Xu Yuanjia lowered his head and took two sips, his Adam's apple bobbing, a little water spilling from the corner of his mouth, sliding down his chin and neck.
"Brother," Shi Luyu's voice was still choked with sobs, "how are you so amazing? You can bring so many people to save me... and you always manage to save me."
Xu Yuanjia paused for a moment.
His eyelashes drooped and then lifted, and his eyeballs moved slightly under his eyelids.
Xu Jia's information flashed through my mind.
The man he had been secretly monitoring and imitating for a long time was Xu Jia. It is said that Xu Jia grew up in a border merchant family, was familiar with local power dynamics, and his family had also befriended some small gang leaders.
This is also why Xu Jia was able to find out through investigation that Xu Yuanjia was the most ruthless heir of the Xu family.
"My family has always done business here," he said casually, as if chatting about everyday life. "This place has been unstable for a long time, so of course we need to befriend some warlords to protect our business."
Shi Luyu looked at him with eyes full of pure trust.
To increase credibility, Xu Yuanjia added, "That scarred man is Chai Ye, he's my... sworn brother, and the leader of this entire black-clad army. I asked him for help to save you."
Shi Luyu nodded solemnly: "Then I must thank him properly for saving my life."
"Tsk." Xu Yuanjia's face turned cold for a moment, so quickly that Shi Luyu barely noticed it.
The next second, his expression switched to a pitiful, manipulative look: "You're welcome."
"Sweetie, hurry up and comfort me. I was terrified when I saw you being captured by bad guys."
Shi Luyu quickly reached out and patted his back, one pat after another, as if she were comforting a frightened kitten: "Brother, don't be afraid, don't be afraid anymore, I'm alright."
She clapped twice, then suddenly remembered something and slowed her movements: "Oh right, brother, I remember you're an only child, right? How come you have a younger brother? Was he born after your family moved to Taimai?"
Xu Yuanjia cursed inwardly:
Why is this little girl asking so many questions today? It's all that bastard Xu Chenglin's fault; he said too many things he shouldn't have to torment her. Looks like we have to kill that gossipy monster.
A faint sadness crept onto his face. He lowered his eyelashes and spoke softly, "Yes, it was born from my father's affair with another woman."
This isn't a lie. The old man had many women, including several mistresses; Xu Chenglin was just one of his "younger brothers."
"Ouch~" He suddenly frowned, clutching the wound on his thigh. "It hurts, sweetie."
Shi Luyu panicked immediately: "I'm sorry, brother, I won't ask anymore! You're already injured... I'd rather not bring up your painful memories."
Xu Yuanjia reached out and put his arm around her shoulder, pulling her into his embrace.
"I was wrong to choke you and yell at you before." His chin rested on the top of her head, his voice deep and gentle, coming from his chest.
"Please forgive your brother, okay? Be good."
Shi Luyu's tears welled up again. She nodded vigorously, her voice muffled against his chest: "Brother, it's all because you were worried about me."
Worry?
Xu Yuanjia looked down at the fluffy head in his arms, his eyes darkening slightly.
He wasn't sure if this feeling was worry.
He might just dislike his things having flaws, getting dirty, or breaking; that makes him uncomfortable.
The girl raised her face, her eyes and nose red, and looked at him earnestly, saying, "What should I do, brother? How can I stop the pain? How can I get better faster...?"
The girl's gaze was so sincere and innocent that it made his Adam's apple bob.
"Oh dear... I'm a little thirsty."
Shi Luyu quickly held up her water bottle: "Brother, have some water."
Xu Yuanjia grasped the hand she was handing him the water bottle, pressing his fingertips against the pulse on the inside of her wrist, feeling each beat.
His eyes turned into a more primal hunger, like a desert traveler seeing an oasis, like a wild beast smelling blood.
"I don't want this," he said.
She hurriedly asked, "What does my brother want? I'll find it for you!"
He lowered his voice, so that only she could hear him:
"you."
