Lin Mian stared at him with wide eyes, trying to tell if it was a malicious joke, but she couldn't tell.

Years have passed, and He Duoye has matured far too much, making Lin Mian feel both unfamiliar and fearful.

She thought of the corpses scattered all around her, the gunshots and bloody holes from earlier... and then looked at He Duoye's nonchalant expression, a chill running down her spine.

Did He Duoye also kill countless people in this way, which is why he became the respected Third Master in this cannibalistic jungle world?

So even though he was surrounded by corpses, he didn't bother to waste time peeking at them.

He Duoye used to have a mad, ruthless streak, but now... his indifference, madness, bloodlust, and danger are written all over his face.

He was no longer the first love Lin Mian knew from her youth.

He Duoye pinched Lin Mian's face and gently shook it playfully: "Speak."

Lin Mian could only reply, "Not so good."

He Duoye seemed very patient: "Oh, why isn't it good?"

Lin Mian pursed her lips, wanting to glare at He Duoye, but not daring to. She said in a low voice, "Because dead people have no value, if you keep me, I can..."

She subconsciously thought of the time when they first tasted forbidden fruit, and how He Duoye was obsessed with her body.

But so many years have passed, and there are so many people now, Lin Mian can't say anything inappropriate.

She braced herself and said, "I can work for you."

He Duoye scoffed, his expression full of disdain.

He released Lin Mian's chin, stood up, and said to Uncle Mei beside him, "I'm taking both of them with me."

Uncle Mei's gaze swept over Lin Mian, sharp and cold like a venomous eagle, scrutinizing Lin Mian from head to toe.

But he didn't say anything unnecessary, nor did he make any extra expressions.

Uncle Mei simply smiled and said, "Of course."

Soon someone came over, tied Lin Mian's hands, blindfolded her, and shoved her into the car.

Her blind date, Zhang Zhiwen, was also tied up and thrown at her feet.

After a while, the car started and bumped its way through the rainforest.

Lin Mian was soaked to the bone. Fortunately, the environment here was hot and humid, and even though it had just rained heavily, the temperature was still very high. She didn't feel cold, but rather a suffocating, oppressive feeling that made her dizzy and gave her a confused and disoriented feeling.

She and Zhang Zhiwen were originally on a group tour to Thailand, but they were drugged by a shady tour guide on the way, and their entire tour group was lured here.

To her surprise, she ran into her ex-boyfriend, whom she had broken up with four years ago, here.

To make matters worse, her ex-boyfriend, who already had some mental health issues, seemed to have turned into a ruthless gang leader.

"Mianmian," Zhang Zhiwen murmured, wriggling his body.

"I think that Third Master still has feelings for you. Please plead for me and let me leave here. When I get back, I'll call the police and try to find someone to rescue you."

Old flame...

Lin Mian leaned her head against the car window, remembering when He Duoye had pursued her.

It can hardly be called chasing.

As a teenager, He Duoye was as stubborn as a rock, never uttering a decent word. So initially, when he followed Lin Mian after school, Lin Mian thought he was going to ambush her and was very nervous.

So she walked faster and faster, until finally, in her panic, she lost her footing and tumbled down the slope, scraping her knee badly.

He Duoye slowly followed, squatted down next to her, and said with a smile, "The way you rolled over just now looked like a big potato, so cute."

Lin Mian was both embarrassed and angry, her face turning red.

He Duoye said, "You're blushing again."

Enraged, Lin Mian swung her fist at him.

He Duoye grabbed her hand, helped her up, and then carried her home on his back.

Lin Mian injured her knee, making it difficult for her to walk. For the next few days, He Duoye carried her to and from school, putting her down when they were almost there, and she would hop slowly on her own.

After her deskmate accidentally witnessed this, she secretly wrote a note asking Lin Mian if He Duoye liked her and was pursuing her, otherwise why would he follow her around all day?

Lin Mian also had her suspicions. She couldn't hold back any longer, and after school that afternoon, she leaned on He Duoye's back and asked him hesitantly, "Are you... are you...?"

He Duoye replied lazily and casually, "You like me?"

Lin Mian felt embarrassed and grabbed He Duoye's shoulder, humming in response.

Unexpectedly, He Duoye casually said, "Oh, I see, you like me."

Enraged, Lin Mian punched He Duoye's shoulder, instantly forgetting her shame: "I asked if you like me! I don't like you at all! Who would like a jerk like you?!"

She wouldn't date early; she's a woman who wants to get into a top university.

That jerk will only slow her down when she's doing her homework.

They happened to be walking by the pond when He Duoye, carrying her on his back, stood to the side and said, "Since you don't like it, I'll just throw you in."

Lin Mian immediately clung tightly to him, but said defiantly, "Go ahead and throw me, I can swim, I'm not afraid."

He Duoye actually let go, and Lin Mian had to use both hands and feet to cling to him like a koala. The two struggled for a while by the pond before He Duoye suddenly stopped.

Lin Mian quickly jumped down and ran forward.

Later, as she rubbed her aching chest, she suddenly realized why He Duoye had suddenly stopped moving.

She was clinging to his back, too close.

That scoundrel.

Lin Mian was so angry that she couldn't sleep that night. She tossed and turned in bed and opened her chat box with He Duoye, typing out a bunch of things to curse him.

Just as she was about to send it out, there was a knock on her bedroom window, which startled Lin Mian so much that she sat up abruptly, thinking she had been robbed.

She lived alone in her two-story house in the countryside, which was empty and frightening.

"Lin Mian." He Duoye's irritating voice came from behind the curtains.

Lin Mian paused for two seconds, then carefully pulled back the curtains. It really was He Duoye.

They were neighbors; He Duoye lived in a dilapidated bungalow fifty meters away across the street. Right now, he was standing on the roof of Lin Mian's neighbor's chicken coop, in front of Lin Mian's second-floor bedroom window, raising an eyebrow at her.

Lin Mian opened the window incredulously: "What are you doing?"

Are you crazy? Climbing onto someone's roof in the middle of the night? Be careful you don't get mistaken for a chicken thief and taken to the police station.

The chicken coop was quite low, and through the window, Lin Mian and He Duoye were no longer at a height difference, looking at each other at eye level.

The bedroom light shone on his face, revealing a unique and striking beauty; he was incredibly handsome and well-defined.

He beckoned to Lin Mian: "Come here, I have something to tell you."

Lin Mian wasn't blinded by his good looks, after all, this guy had a long history of teasing her.

She asked warily, "What are you going to do?"

He Duoye said, "Come here first."

After a few seconds of stalemate, Lin Mian bent down and leaned closer. He Duoye raised his hand, grabbed the back of Lin Mian's neck, and pulled her closer.

then.

He whispered very loudly in Lin Mian's ear, "Yes!"

In the quiet of the rural night, the sound was like thunder, terrifying Lin Mian so much that she didn't fully recover until she was back in bed.

Do you like me?

--Yes.

Ling Mian spent most of the night without sleep. After careful and repeated consideration, she sent a message to He Duoye: "I'm sorry, I don't like you."

She did have some crushes, but she didn't want to be in a relationship too early, so she had to cruelly reject them.

After thinking for a while, Lin Mian sent him another encouraging message: "I hope you can study hard and get into university."

She might consider agreeing to date him then, and they could be a couple on the university campus.

He Duoye didn't reply to Lin Mian's message, as if he had never received it. Not only did he continue to nag Lin Mian every day, but he also developed the bad habit of climbing over the wall in the middle of the night and breaking into Lin Mian's bedroom.

He came and did nothing else but lie down on Lin Mian's bed, then read her novels and comics, and played with her phone and tablet. When Lin Mian scolded him, he said that she wasn't taking her homework seriously and was so distracted, and that she might not get into a good university.

That bully is so annoying and deserves a beating.

Lin Mian was so angry she felt dizzy, and said, "Even if you keep bothering me like this, I will never like you!"

He Duoye didn't even look up, and even turned a page of his comic book, saying lazily, "If I like it, that's fine with me."
