Pure Love Imprisoned: My Ex-Boyfriend, Who Blamed Me, Imprisoned Me in Love
Chapter 76 Fine, I beg you.
Lin Mian had another dream that night.
This time, she dreamed that she took He Duoye to her uncle's house for dinner.
He Duoye and Lin Mian were neighbors in their hometown in the countryside. When Lin Mian's uncle came to visit, he would naturally see He Duoye as well, so his uncle had known He Duoye for a long time.
When they found out that Lin Mian was dating him, his uncle and aunt were not surprised. They had long suspected that there was something going on between the two children, but they didn't say anything.
So after Lin Mian went to university, every time her uncle invited her back for dinner, he would ask her to bring He Duoye along.
In her dream, Lin Mian took He Duoye to her uncle's house. They chatted and cooked, and Lin Mian went downstairs to buy some things. She waited for the elevator for a long time, but it never came.
In her dream, Lin Mian was split in two. One half of her consciousness was frantically warning her to run, because there might be danger in the elevator. Just like the woman she encountered at the Oman Hotel last time.
But she couldn't move the other half of her body. She stood frozen in place, anxious and uneasy, when she saw the elevator doors suddenly open and a woman covered in blood standing inside, staring intently at her.
Lin Mian wanted to run, but her limbs felt as heavy as lead. She struggled desperately and could barely move a finger.
She tried to call out to someone but couldn't make a sound.
She struggled desperately in her dream as if drowning—
"Mianmian." Someone called her, and her stiff hand was grasped. The warm pressure broke the dream.
Lin Mian opened her eyes, panting. In the dim light, she saw He Duoye's furrowed brows.
"Did you have a nightmare?" He Duoye touched her slightly sweaty face. "Are you awake now?"
The feeling of drowning from the nightmare slowly faded. Lin Mian hugged He Duoye's waist, snuggling into his arms. Smelling his scent, Lin Mian unconsciously relaxed.
He Duoye gently stroked her back: "What did you dream about?"
Lin Mian remained silent for a while. She didn't want to tell He Duoye about her nightmare about the elevator, as it would make her seem fragile.
"I dreamt that you went to my uncle's house for dinner with me." Lin Mian adapted the nightmare about the elevator, "and then, for some reason, I suddenly fell off the balcony, and I was so scared that I kept struggling in the dream."
He Duoye said, "Your dream is not right."
Lin Mian: "..."
"Even in my dreams, I won't let you fall off the balcony," He Duoye said. "Besides, your uncle's house doesn't even have a balcony."
The balcony of her uncle's house was converted into a small room, where Lin Mian lived when she was little. Her aunt kept that room. Later, when Lin Mian took He Duoye to her uncle's house, sometimes it was too late, so they would stay overnight in the small room.
The single bed inside was very small. Every morning when He Duoye woke up, half of his back was hanging outside, and Lin Mian would squeeze into his arms, leaving the other half of the bed empty.
Lin Mian argued with him: "I was dreaming, why are you questioning whether the logic of my dream is correct or not? Do you even understand reason?"
He Duoye said arrogantly, "I don't care if you have sweet dreams, like dreaming that you beg me to marry you or something."
Lin Mian pinched his waist: "Why should I beg you? You're the one begging me."
He Duoye generously said, "Alright, I'm begging you."
Lin Mian: "..."
He Duoye stroked her hair: "What else did you dream about?"
"I forgot," Lin Mian said. "Isn't that how dreams are? You forget them as soon as you wake up."
He Duoye didn't expose her; if she really had forgotten, she wouldn't have bothered to explain.
After being jolted awake by a nightmare, Lin Mian didn't fall asleep again until almost dawn. When she woke up, it was nearly eleven o'clock. The other half of the bed was already empty, and Lin Mian habitually assumed that He Duoye must have gotten up and left long ago.
Hearing faint voices coming from downstairs, Lin Mian was stunned. She quickly got up, walked to the railing, and looked down.
It really was He Duoye. He was on the phone in the living room when he saw Lin Mian and waved.
As Lin Mian walked downstairs, He Duoye hung up the phone. He pulled Lin Mian in front of him and they exchanged a very light kiss.
"Aren't you busy today?" Lin Mian asked.
He Duoye ruffled her messy hair: "It depends... Are you hungry?"
Lin Mian nodded, raised her eyelashes, and looked brightly at He Duoye: "Are you going to make me breakfast?"
He Duoye laughed and said, "Yes, to soothe your little heart that had a nightmare."
He made a simple sandwich, with a runny egg, Lin Mian's favorite, and a small dish of washed berries.
Lin Mian, chewing on her sandwich, her cheeks puffed out, looked at He Duoye sitting across from her, and asked suspiciously, "Did you do something to betray me?"
She chewed on her sandwich, thought for a moment, and made a reasonable guess: "Did you transfer money to yourself using my phone while I was asleep?"
He complained last night that Lin Mian's transfer amount was too small.
He Duoye said, "You reminded me, I'll transfer it to myself now."
He got up to go upstairs to find Lin Mian's phone, but Lin Mian quickly stopped him, saying, "I was just kidding."
She kept that money because she needed it.
He Duoye didn't actually intend to transfer the money. He sat down again, looked at Lin Mian, and waited until she had almost finished eating before saying, "Do you want to make a video call to your uncle?"
Lin Mian stopped abruptly.
He Duoye said, "I remembered his number and added him back on WeChat."
He took out his phone, and on the screen was his WeChat chat with his uncle. However, they had just added each other as friends, and the only message he received was from his uncle: "Who are you?"
Lin Mian poked at the round blueberries, still undecided.
She didn't want her uncle to know her current situation and become anxious and worried about her, as that would only make her feel like she was causing trouble for her uncle's family.
But she's been out of contact for so long, her uncle and aunt must be worried.
He Duoye said, "If nothing unexpected happens, we should be able to go back by the end of next month."
Lin Mian was somewhat taken aback, not expecting to be able to return so soon: "Really?"
Thinking of the difficult He family members, she asked worriedly, "What if something unexpected happens?"
He Duoye smiled, a smile that carried an air of arrogance and nonchalance, calm and indifferent: "Then we'll just have to wait a few more months."
Lin Mian felt a little relieved. She took a breath and decided to contact her uncle to let him know she was safe.
She went upstairs to wash her face and change her clothes before taking He Duoye's phone and sending a message to her uncle.
She had just sent her name when her uncle called her directly via video. Lin Mian nervously picked up her phone and answered.
My uncle's worried face appeared on the screen. He stared intently at the person on the screen and called out for confirmation, "Mianmian?"
Lin Mian's nose tingled with emotion, but she held back her feelings and forced a smile: "It's me, Uncle."
My uncle asked impatiently, "Where have you been all this time? You and Zhiwen lost contact abroad, and your aunt was so worried she had to go to the hospital..."
His eyes were visibly red, and his voice choked as he said, "We were all afraid something would happen to you out there. Your aunt booked that tour for you, and she insisted that you go out with Zhiwen. As a result, your entire tour group went missing, and everyone said you were sold to the park."
"Your aunt fainted from worry. She couldn't contact you, and calling the police didn't help. She couldn't eat and became so thin that her face was pale."
Lin Mian listened with her eyes downcast, tears welling up in her eyes, but she forced them back.
