Falling into the rain

Chapter 3 "Turn Around"

The sweetness instantly melted in my mouth, covering the bitterness of the Chinese medicine.

Lime flavored.

Yu Tingyu was slightly taken aback. She had loved this flavor of candy since she was a child, but it was bad for her teeth. Once, she even cried because of tooth decay. Wen Huaixu then began to control how often she ate candy, so she didn't know when she last ate it.

Seeing that she remained silent, Wen Huaixu raised an eyebrow slightly: "Am I wrong?"

Yu Tingyu savored the subtle sweetness of the candy, hiding her secret thoughts from everyone.

She nodded, her words slightly muffled by the candy in her mouth: "...Yes."

Wen Huaixu felt relieved when he saw her nod, and a slight smile appeared on his lips, but he still bent his finger and tapped her forehead.

Yu Tingyu hissed in pain.

Wen Huaixu squinted and, as usual, instructed, "Tell me next time you feel unwell. If you're feeling bad, just come home. It's not like we can't afford to support you."

"I know, I know, it was just an accident." Yu Tingyu knew he was still shaken by the incident, so she reached out and tugged at his sleeve, gently shaking it as she said, "Aren't you scared yet?"

The girl's hands appeared snow-white under the orange-yellow light. Her fingers were slender and long. She often played the piano, so she didn't have a habit of getting manicures or growing her nails. Her nails were glossy, with clean, white lunulae.

The swaying made him a little dizzy, and his throat became dry. He instinctively stopped him, saying, "Don't move."

Yu Tingyu stopped moving instantly.

Wen Huaixu regretted interfering with her. Yu Tingyu hadn't acted coquettishly towards him for a long time, and he wondered when the next time would be.

But he maintained a serious demeanor, his dark eyes fixed on Yu Tingyu as he continued his lecture: "How many hearts of mine can withstand an accident like yours? And that Zhao family brat, seeing you weren't feeling well, didn't he hurry up and take you to rest..."

"Brother, it was me who wanted to perform until the end. What does that have to do with Zhao Xiao?"

Yu Tingyu frowned and interrupted him, feeling that he was being a bit too condescending.

Zhao Xiao and she both studied violin at the music academy. They would almost always perform together in the same theater, but there was never a time when they could take such good care of each other.

She herself didn't know she was sick; she thought it was just low blood sugar from not eating breakfast, let alone Zhao Xiao.

Wen Huaixu lowered his eyes, staring intently at Yu Tingyu, a bitter pain welling up in his heart.

They've actually sided with outsiders to refute me.

Yu Tingyu met his deep gaze and couldn't help but give in. She knew he was worried about her, so her tone softened a lot: "Brother, I know you're doing this for my own good. It really won't happen again, I promise."

She held up two fingers next to her cheek, her expression resolute.

She had already given in, so how could I possibly stay angry with her?

He's just a child who hasn't grown up yet.

Wen Huaixu dropped the subject. He glanced at Yu Tingyu's still-damp hair and uttered a few words in a low voice: "Turn around."

"Um?"

Although Yu Tingyu had doubts, her body still obeyed her orders.

In those few seconds of turning around, a lot of inappropriate thoughts popped into my head.

For example, the kinds of novels she likes to read that have explicit content.

If the male lead says "Turn around," it means the female lead is about to be punished, or something else that will make her blush...

Yu Tingyu pinched herself secretly, trying to banish the unbearable images from her mind. She looked in the mirror, where Wen Huaixu stood behind her.

The next second, he picked up the hairdryer she had placed on the table and then picked up a strand of her hair.

It turns out it was just blow-drying hair.

Yu Tingyu watched as Wen Huaixu skillfully used a hairdryer to dry the ends of her hair little by little, as if he had done it many times before.

She couldn't help but feel annoyed and ashamed for having had those thoughts in her mind.

Yu Tingyu, what are you thinking?

Although Wen Huaixu was blow-drying his hair, his gaze remained fixed on the mirror, taking in her expressions of sometimes frowning and sometimes pursing her lips.

"Is the wind too hot?"

As he spoke, he turned the temperature down a notch, moved a little further away, and gently stroked her hair.

Yu Tingyu was taken aback. When she looked up, she saw herself frowning in the mirror. She calmly adjusted her expression and answered, "...a little."

Wen Huaixu looked down at Yu Tingyu in the mirror: "If you're not feeling well, just say so. How many times have I told you? Why can't you remember?"

To be honest, he has always been a man of few words and taciturnity, and the most he has ever spoken in his life has probably been about Yu Tingyu.

Yu Tingyu nodded haphazardly, sounding like she was just going through the motions: "Okay, okay, I'll definitely tell you next time."

You can say if you feel unwell.

But what can she say when she feels uncomfortable?

She knew that Wen Huaixu would get married sooner or later. Given the status and position of the Wen and Liang families, they would definitely choose someone of equal social standing for marriage. Her elder brother, Liang Jiezong, was about to get married. He had chosen his own wife, a female star in the entertainment industry. She didn't know how much persuasion Liang Kaizhou and Wen Yun had to use to get that sister-in-law into the family. Not only that, Liang Jiezong even endured family discipline to achieve his goal.

Therefore, the burden of the marriage alliance will inevitably fall on Wen Huaixu's shoulders.

Despite having considered this outcome several times, Yu Tingyu began to feel dejected again. So these days, she intentionally or unintentionally tried to distance herself from Wen Huaixu, wondering if that would be better.

"Second brother, can I go back to school tomorrow?"

Yu Tingyu turned her head, her big, watery eyes looking at him. Her face was delicate and obedient, and no one could bear to refuse her.

But Huai Xu seemed unmoved by this approach, and immediately rejected it in a deep voice: "No way."

Yu Tingyu became anxious, "But there's a performance in a few days, and I have to go to rehearsal."

"I know it's my older brother's welcome dinner tomorrow night. Could you pick me up from school this afternoon? It won't take up too much time."

Please, please.

The girl's last words also seemed to have a hint of coquetry.

Wen Huaixu stopped drying his hair, turned off the hairdryer, placed it on the table, and silently watched her.

Yu Tingyu didn't understand what he meant, so she tentatively reached out and tugged at his sleeve, her voice low: "Is this okay?"

As she moved, the fragrance of her freshly dried hair wafted into Wen Huaixu's nostrils, causing him to pause slightly.

He narrowed his eyes, and finally conceded, saying, "Judging from your condition, if you still have a fever, then forget about it, and you don't need to go to the welcome banquet either."

"Okay." Yu Tingyu nodded emphatically.

She promised to go to bed early tonight, try not to think about those messy things, and recover her health completely by tomorrow.
