My Wandering Swordsman

Chapter 37 Disguise

It was already evening when we got back to the film studio.

Instead of rushing back to the tin shack, I went to the film crew's location first.

Because Ruan Tang was so outstanding, Niu, the production assistant, had almost nothing to do. When I arrived, he was squatting on the sidelines smoking.

Seeing me approach, he grinned and said, "Oh, it's Master Ji."

This kid's been doing pretty well lately, and he's getting a good reputation among the extras, so I went over and offered him a cigarette: "Niu Dafa, let's talk about something."

"explain."

"Do you have any suits in the film crew's dressing room? I can borrow three."

The production assistant looked at me suspiciously: "A blind date?"

"Never mind that."

The production assistant didn't ask any more questions and led me to the fitting room.

We got in, but this is a Qing Dynasty drama, and all the costumes in the crew are ancient costumes. We rummaged through boxes and cabinets for a long time before we could find a few suits.

They're all older models: one set in dark gray, one in navy blue, and one in stripes.

I frowned as I looked at it, but there was no other way at the moment, so I could only deal with the immediate crisis first.

"Then I'm off, I'll pay you back in two days."

"It's alright, feel free to use our stuff."

I carried three sets of clothes back to the tin shack.

I almost burst out laughing when I opened the door.

Hua Heshang and Liu Zi are really obedient. I told them not to run around, and they just lay in their dorm room like corpses, too lazy to even move.

One person was sprawled out on the bed, while another was curled up in a chair snoring. The room reeked of stinky feet.

I kicked the bed leg and said, "Hey guys, didn't you go to the film set today?"

The Flower Monk glanced at me, rolled over, and said angrily, "Don't even mention it. Sister Ruan disliked us. She said our acting was too bad and kicked us out."

"Hahahaha!"

I laughed so hard I slapped my thigh: "Still licking? You've already licked a donkey's hoof, haven't you?"

The Flower Monk sat up abruptly: "Stop talking nonsense. If you're so good, why don't you do it yourself? Act as a dead person for Sister Ruan and see if she praises you."

I laughed even louder.

The monk grabbed a pillow and threw it at me. I dodged to the side, and the pillow hit Liu Zi in the face.

Liu Zi jumped up with a yell, groggily shouting, "Who? Who hit me?"

"Your brother Ji hit you."

Liu Zi rubbed his eyes, saw it was me, and grinned, "Brother Ji, you're back? How was your day?"

"We've made a great haul." I waved the suits in my hand, unfolded two suits and tossed them over. "Alright, even if Sister Ruan thinks you two are bad, I don't. Change into these, and come out with me tomorrow."

The monk took the clothes, then froze, "What is this thing?"

"A suit? Never seen one before?"

"Stop talking nonsense and try them on."

The two of them hurriedly put the clothes on.

The Flower Monk was a burly man with broad shoulders and a thick waist. The suit jacket he wore barely managed to button up the front, and the sleeves were too short, making him look like a bandit who would abduct women.

Liu Zi was in an even worse state; the suit jacket hung loosely on his body, making his shoulders appear much wider and leaving his waist completely exposed.

I laughed so hard I almost cried.

The monk frowned and muttered, "Why do rich people wear such strange clothes? Do they look good in them?"

"You two just don't like wearing these clothes, don't blame it on the clothes." I forced a laugh, wiping away my tears. "Now you're saying other people's clothes are weird? Why don't you look for the problem in yourselves?"

"Alright, just make do with these. You've been wearing this plastic outfit for days on end."

The monk glared at me: "Damn it! I hadn't even thought of that until you brought it up, where's my monk's robe?"

What kind of time is this? He's still asking me for a monk's robe. I threw that tattered thing in the trash that very night. But seeing him bring up old grievances, I quickly changed the subject: "Well, how about we take care of something important tomorrow?"

Liu Zi interjected, "What's the big deal?"

I lowered my voice: "Tomorrow, let's go meet Lü Guodong. Yeah, he's the eldest prince's father."

"What?!"

......

The next day at noon, the three of us went out.

The Flower Monk and Liu Zi wore two sets, leaving only one striped set. I had no choice but to put it on.

The three of them went to the film set and got three more pairs of leather shoes, which barely managed to keep things looking decent.

We took a taxi directly to the county town.

On the way, I had Hua Heshang and Liu Zi practice their expressions. They had to keep a straight face, talk less, and have a cold, arrogant look in their eyes.

Yes, that's my plan.

Pretending to be a buyer, he approached Lü Guodong directly, using the pretext of discussing business to obtain the price list, and thus, his mission was accomplished.

As for Monk Hua and Liu Zi, I didn't expect them to do anything. The main thing is that rich people always have entourages when they go out. I'm talking to a big boss like Lü Guodong about such a large deal; I certainly can't go alone.

So, today, the Flower Monk and Liu Zi will be playing the roles of my bodyguards and attendants.

Once they entered the city...

I randomly found a public phone booth, recalled the phone number I had noted down in the newspaper yesterday, and dialed it.

The phone rang a few times before being answered: "Who is this?"

I lowered my voice: "Mr. Lü?"

"It's me."

"I heard we have a shipment of goods?"

There was a two-second silence on the other end of the phone, then the tone suddenly turned cold: "Goods? What goods? Are you crazy? You've got the wrong number."

Seeing that he was about to hang up, I quickly said, "Mr. Lü, please wait. I heard it from Mr. Lü Xiaoqing. He said that our family has a batch of videotapes that urgently need to find buyers. I happen to have some connections. I wonder if we could talk about it?"

Seeing that I couldn't hide it any longer, I simply poured the dirty water on the eldest prince.

There was silence on the other end of the phone.

I bet Lu Guodong is cursing his good-for-nothing son in his heart right now, but he probably knows what kind of person Lu Xiaoqing is, so he doesn't suspect anything.

After a long pause, Lü Guodong finally spoke, his tone much gentler than before: "You want it? How much can you eat?"

"How much to spend depends on meeting in person; it depends on the quality of the film, right?"

Another long silence followed.

"Okay, then come to my company, I'll wait for you in my office."

I asked, knowing the answer already, "Where is our company located?"

Lu Guodong gave an address, which was the headquarters of Kangyu Elderly Care Service Company.

"Okay, I'll be right there."

After hanging up the phone, I took a deep breath and turned to look at Monk Hua and Liu Zi.

"Guys, let's go."

The Flower Monk swallowed hard. "Brother Ji, are you sure we can fool everyone looking like this?"

"You have to try to fool me, even if you can't." I patted him on the shoulder. "Remember, we're big bosses from the South now, specializing in audio-visual products. We have wide channels and connections. Don't show any weakness, don't talk too much, and just follow my lead."

They looked at each other and nodded emphatically.
