Devouring Stars: Master of Evolution

Chapter 85 War Breaks Out

In City 003, after defeating the beast tide, Qin Mu did not leave immediately, but instead guarded the city for a period of time.

A total of ten Tier 3 Mother Nests were hatched in the entire city of 003. In this battle, the number of monsters killed by the swarm was far too many, conservatively estimated to be over 30 million!

Their corpses are enough to allow the entire swarm to expand rapidly.

These were the ones killed on the spot by the swarm; the scattered monsters numbered in the hundreds of millions.

Without the leadership of a king-level monster, they were like a pile of loose sand, destined to be devoured by the swarm of insects.

They will provide the swarm with ample flesh and nutrients, allowing the swarm to grow stronger.

However, it will take the insect swarm quite some time to completely wipe out the remaining monsters, and the sea monsters are also watching closely.

Therefore, this city will remain very important for a long time to come.

In the early stages of the battle, Qin Mu of the marine insectoid race did not intend to reveal himself for the time being. Compared to the endless sea monsters, the marine insectoid race, although numbering in the tens of millions, was still too fragile at this stage.

However, under the leadership of the Azure Dragon of the East Sea, and with abundant resources, the marine swarm is developing exceptionally fiercely. Before long, the marine swarm will become one of Qin Mu's trump cards.

"Qin Mu, news has come from the Northeast Base City that the number of monsters gathering outside the city has reached over 100 million. They have begun their attack. At least three King-level monsters have been detected invading; they can be eliminated now!"

Qin Mu did not stay in city 003 for long, as two days later, the first request for support arrived.

Not only in the northeastern base city, but in other major base cities, the situation is similar; the first wave of probing attacks by the monsters has already begun.

"Understood! I'm almost there."

On the ruins of a large building near the mother nest, Qin Mu stood up and looked towards the northeastern base city.

In fact, the situation in the Northeast base city is not too tense. Under Qin Mu's arrangement, there are more than a million insect swarms around the base city to help defend it.

The war bases in each major base city are defended by Jia Yi and others in conjunction with laser cannons. Even a King-level monster would find it extremely difficult to conquer a base city.

But Qin Mu still set off. There are six base cities in the whole of China, each base city has six to ten satellite cities, and each satellite city is near more than one war base city. In addition, some important terrains, such as the mouths of the Yangtze River and the Yellow River, are also guarded by military war bases.

With hundreds of war bases in total, even Qin Mu would be extremely busy, so he needs to take advantage of the present moment to quickly clear them out and enslave a batch of king-level monsters from the Zerg.

These are just land monsters. When sea monsters launch a massive attack, like the invasion of the Golden Horned Beast, with thousands of Ocean King-level monsters invading the land, the situation will be truly critical, and even Qin Mu will be exhausted from running around.

Looking at the king-level monsters in the mother nest, which had almost recovered, with these four king-level monsters guarding City 003, even if a large number of sea monsters invaded, as long as it wasn't those two monster kings that invaded, the defense would be fine for a period of time. At the very least, it could hold out until Qin Mu arrived.

"Whoosh—"

Qin Mu stepped onto the crescent moon disc and transformed into a streak of light, flying towards the northeastern base city.

At this moment, a war base outside the northeastern base city has been surrounded by countless monsters, and all the warriors have returned to the base city to cooperate in the defense.

Outside the city, swarms of millions of insects are locked in fierce battles with monsters at war bases, creating brutal battlefields everywhere, both in the sky and on the ground.

"Boom!"

In the war base, thousands of cannons fired fiercely.

One after another, powerful missiles soared into the sky, turning into flames of death.

After the violent explosion, a large number of monsters were cleared away.

The pressure on the insect swarm in this area immediately eased, and they launched a counterattack against the monster.

"Commander, our monsters are being lost too quickly! If this continues, we'll probably be wiped out very soon!"

In the command center, a staff officer looked at the fierce battlefield outside the city and said somewhat impatiently.

"Don't rush! Such a high-intensity war can't last long for the beast tide; they also need time to catch their breath."

According to the orders above, as long as our monsters drag the corpses of those fallen monsters back to the lair, new monsters can be created as quickly as possible!

An officer who appeared to be a leader remained calm, watching as one of their own monsters emerged continuously from a cave not far outside the city.

"Look, the monsters that have crawled out are almost all at the level of Beast General. With so many Beast General level monsters, it's not easy to defeat them. For now, we only need long-range artillery support."

Except for warriors who possess the Black God Set, other warriors are not allowed to enter the beast tide to fight!

"Only after reinforcements arrive, the King-level monster is slain, and the beast horde is defeated, will it be time for us to strike."

Looking at the map, which marked several king-level monsters, the leader-like man had a strong killing intent on his face.

"support?"

The man who looked like a staff officer looked puzzled, then his face lit up with surprise, as if he had thought of something.

"Reinforcements have arrived!"

Looking at the screen, the radar showed that something traveling at more than twenty times the speed of sound was rapidly approaching, and the officer who looked like a commander showed delight on his face.

In the sky, a streak of light flew rapidly from afar and hovered above the battlefield.

"There are three king-level monsters in total: one wolf-type monster, one tiger-type monster, and one bear-type monster. Their strength is all at the second level of the planetary level. Take them out quickly!"

Qin Mu's gaze turned sinister. Beneath his feet, crescent-shaped blades flew out from the Crescent Moon Disc, burning fiercely with black flames, as they pounced towards the wolf-like king-level monster.

"Pfft—"

"Pfft—"

The Crescent Moon Blade easily sliced through the wolf-like monster's fur, severed its tendons and bones, and severely injured it.

With Qin Mu's current strength, he can easily kill monsters of this power, without even needing to use the Rainbow Moon Slash.

Soon, the three king-level monsters collapsed to the ground, subdued one by one by Qin Mu.

"boom--"

Qin Mu unleashed his psychic power, attacking relentlessly at more than twenty times the speed of sound, his 256 crescent moon blades creating a terrifying rain of blood amidst the beast horde.

The beast tide, stretching for dozens of miles, was cut into terrifying bloody tunnels by this horrific attack.

The entire beast tide was collapsing at a visible speed.

"Is this the strength of Commander Qin Mu? It's terrifying!"

"Invincible! Invincible!"

"Flight speed exceeded 20 times the speed of sound!"

"With Commander Qin Mu here, we will definitely defeat the monster!"

"..."

As the officers and soldiers of the entire war base watched as the massive beast tide was easily crushed by Qin Mu, they erupted in thunderous cheers.

After the beast tide was defeated, the gates of the war base burst open, and a large number of warriors rushed out to hunt down the fleeing monsters.

……

"The Central and Southern Military Region has discovered an invasion by a three-headed King-level monster! Our monsters are currently engaged in direct combat with the monster horde. Councilor Zhu and our Flame Giant Lizard King-level monster, aided by laser cannons, are locked in combat with the enemy, and the situation is currently stable!"

"Five King-level monsters have been detected invading the Northwest Military Region! Requesting backup!"

"A large number of monsters have been discovered gathering at the mouth of the Yellow River, reaching the scale of a first-level monster tide!"

"A catastrophic monster tide has appeared in City 003, and they are engaged in fierce battle with our monsters. Five Ocean King-level monsters have already landed!"

"..."

Various combat information came in one after another from the military's channels, and Qin Mu was busy putting out fires everywhere.

Across the vast land of our motherland, the flames of war raged everywhere!

However, as Qin Mu continued to subdue or kill various king-level monsters, and the size of the insect swarm increased rather than decreased in the high-intensity war.

Although battles continued in various places, no war bases were breached thanks to Qin Mu's rapid support.

The most critical incident involved a collective invasion by six King-level monsters. Even one King-level monster belonging to the swarm was killed in battle, and the laser cannons in the war base were destroyed. The high-level lord-level monsters in the swarm desperately held off several King-level monsters.

Fortunately, Qin Mu arrived in time and killed and subdued the several king-level monsters.

As the land monsters were largely killed, the situation in the country gradually stabilized.

While China was engulfed in war, several major foreign powers and numerous base cities were also in turmoil.

Monsters around the world have begun to riot, with more and more sea monsters taking the opportunity to land from various places, and two monster kings have begun to emerge.

Under these circumstances, Hong and Thor went around putting out fires, but no matter how strong they were, there were only two of them.

The two of them were not skilled in large-scale killing, and their speed was far inferior to Qin Mu's. Without the assistance of the insect swarm, various base cities abroad were frantically calling for help amidst the surging beast tide.

Before the Great Rebirth, this land in Africa was teeming with wildlife, free from the pollution of modern industry, making it a paradise for many animals.

But after the RR virus, this place became a living hell.

This place is inherently chaotic, lacking a strong and unified government.

During the Great Nirvana, almost all nations perished, and the surviving humans built base cities deep within the continent in order to survive.

Even so, they were still unable to resist the invasion of monsters, so they hired the powerful Flame Mercenary Group to assist in the defense.

However, the Flame Mercenary Group has suffered heavy losses in the successive attacks of the beast tides, and even Hong and Thor have come to help.

Unfortunately, as soon as they left, a swarm of King-level monsters arrived.

"This can't go on, let's request backup!"

In a conference room in a base city in Africa, a black councilor spoke in a somber tone.

"No way! Their demands are too harsh; they're asking us to completely relinquish leadership and be incorporated into their territory!"

Another Black congressman said angrily.

"If it were just a matter of handing over leadership, it wouldn't be unnecessarily difficult to negotiate, but look at their attitude towards the HR alliance."

They actually dared to target the HR Alliance's top brass right at the start of the war, and even went so far as to hold a trial!

By what right do they judge me!

Some Black lawmakers were angry, or rather, fearful.

When it comes to darkness and savagery, the continent of Africa is truly terrifying!

Unlike China, this place lacks a sound legal system. Just like before the Great Nirvana, it remains rife with chaos.

No, it should be said that it was even more chaotic than before the Great Nirvana.

This is the real apocalypse!

If judged by Chinese law, most of the people in the meeting would not be spared even if they were executed ten times over.

"But with our strength, we simply can't withstand the beast tide! If the base city falls, then it's all over."

"The Flame Mercenary Group is planning to retreat and return to Europe."

"We must make a decision as soon as possible."

At the very beginning of the war, some base cities abroad were already on the verge of collapse.

It's not just base cities in Africa; there are base cities in South America and even Europe that are struggling to survive.

But this has nothing to do with Qin Mu, or perhaps this situation was part of his plan.

Unification will involve bloodshed.

But as long as it's not Chinese blood that's being shed, he doesn't care.

I'll probably be going to the hospital these next couple of days, so update times will be a bit irregular.
