Chapter 104 Frequent Errors
Chapter 104 Frequent Errors
In the dilapidated lobby of the movie theater, the prop master from the film crew handed over weapons: "Crossbows and arrows, I've got them all ready."
"Thank you." Martin took it from his hands, and after the prop master left, he removed the crossbow bolt and checked the arrowhead and the crossbow arm.
After confirming that the crossbow bolts had soft rubber tips and that the crossbow arm was still limp and unable to provide any support, it was reassembled.
Bruce, now fully recovered, approached and asked in a low voice, "Is there a problem?"
Martin's voice was equally soft: "There have been more than one incidents in Hollywood where prop weapons have injured or killed people. I wouldn't feel comfortable without checking these things that are aimed at people."
Bruce remembered something: "Ravens."
Director Jaume Coleman's voice came from the set: "All departments, get ready."
Martin arrived at the film set, which faced the theater entrance, and assumed a shooting stance.
Filming begins, the doors to the opposite theater open, and Brian appears.
Martin pulled the trigger, but the soft-tipped crossbow bolt lacked power and fell to the ground without even making a sound after hitting the wall.
Brian fell to the ground with a thud.
In the next scene, Eliza joins in, and Martin picks up the double-barreled shotgun and searches Brian for bullets, but finds nothing.
The twins, thinking the enemy was dead, foolishly left.
Later, Eliza entered the set theater and sat among the mannequins to film.
Martin went outside for some fresh air.
The scenes in the small town have been filmed. This is Warner Bros.' Road Show Studios, Hollywood's largest filming location in Australia.
Bruce stood in the shade of a tree and couldn't help but complain, "That scene was really brain-dead. Anyone with a normal brain would check if someone was really dead, give them a couple more stabs, and get rid of any potential problems."
Martin looked around before saying, "This part is indeed awful." But he was clear-headed: "I have no right to comment. This isn't Carrie's production of 'Zombie Gigolo,' so it's not my place to give feedback."
Bruce asked, "The director doesn't think there's a problem?"
Martin said, "Zurmi was just the general coordinator; he didn't have the authority to change the script."
He looked into the distance: "It's not that I don't want to bully, it's that I don't have the status and power."
Bruce's words were quite apt: "Someone like you, once you have power, will cause a whole host of messes and problems on set."
Martin retorted, "Look at you and me, climbing all the way up from the mud. Why did we climb up? Wasn't it just to live a better, more comfortable, and more carefree life? When we're finally comfortable, a lot of people will be unhappy. What do we care about their unhappiness? Are we going to suffer just to make them happy?"
He referenced Old Brooks's masterpiece: "You had a blast wielding a mortar against the British, but did you ever think about the British?"
"They're all perverts, they like doing this." Bruce didn't forget to correct him: "It's mortar shells."
He was also looking into the distance, where the man in white and black and the woman in red and white were quite conspicuous: "That idiot Menez, is he hooking up with Paris?"
Martin said, "The two of them almost shared the same roots as kangaroos, so they probably have something in common."
Bruce changed the subject: "The hunting license you asked me to inquire about is very troublesome to obtain; it takes time and requires an exam."
How can you say you've been to Australia if you don't deal with the rampant wildlife? Martin asked, "Is there no other way?"
"There are hunting tourism companies that cater specifically to foreign tourists; they have private hunting grounds." Bruce inquired carefully: "Without a temporary Australian gun license, you can't use firearms; you can only use bows and arrows."
Martin's motivation wasn't just hunting; it was also about socializing: "I spoke with Zomi that day, and he's very interested in hunting."
Bruce added, "Your partner is a vegetarian."
Martin thought for a moment: "This is a man's activity. Go and find out how to get a temporary gun license."
There was a restaurant on set, and Martin and Eliza had lunch together.
It's like a buffet; you can help yourself to whatever you want to eat.
Martin carried the plate to the bright red king crab. Just as he picked up the tongs and turned around, Eliza was staring at him expectantly.
There were many people around, and Eliza didn't say anything, but her bright eyes were filled with anticipation.
Martin smiled at her, put down the stainless steel clips and walked forward, ignoring all the meat, eggs and dairy products, and mainly taking some soy products, vegetables and mushrooms.
Eliza came over from behind with a plate, sat down opposite him, forked a piece of mushroom, and brought it to Martin's mouth: "You like mushrooms, try the lobster mushroom, it's better than real lobster."
Martin enjoyed Eliza's feeding with a clear conscience; the vegetarian food tasted quite good when prepared properly.
Bruce then sat down at the next table, and when one plate wasn't enough, he went to get another.
The aroma of roasted beef and mutton, and the sweet fragrance of king crab, wafted over here.
Martin suddenly found vegetarian food bland and tasteless; mushrooms and vegetables didn't smell good at all.
Eliza then said, "I'm going back to Los Angeles at the end of the month for the premiere. Are you coming back?"
Martin had heard her mention her previous film role: "The Girl Next Door?"
"Yes, I played an adult film actress," Eliza said. "The film officially premiered on April 9th and had its opening on March 27th."
Eliza's schedule had been arranged since she joined the production. Martin really wanted to attend the premiere's red carpet, but he couldn't say for sure: "I'll ask Zamy about the specific filming schedule and see if I can get some time off." He asked, "Can you bring someone with you?"
"I'm the lead actress, so I can bring my family." Eliza reached out and firmly grasped Martin's hand. "This is my first movie premiere, so it means a lot to me."
Martin reached out and grasped Eliza's hand, and for some reason, he vaguely felt a connection to Thomas: "I'll try to adjust the time."
Eliza grabbed his hand and kissed it hard: "Let's eat."
Next to him, Kim Kardashian sat opposite Bruce, holding a plate of food.
Bruce asked, "Are you in a bad mood?"
Jin nodded: "It's okay, it's just my usual temper tantrum."
Bruce opened a new bottle of Coke: "A little something sweet will make you feel better."
After finishing their meal, Eliza and Martin left the restaurant first. Eliza asked, "Is Old Brooks trying to woo Kim?"
Bruce may have genuinely loved Monica, but his interest in Kim Kardashian was obvious. Martin vaguely remarked, "Don't worry about that pervert, Bruce."
Eliza pointed to her trailer: "I'm going back to rest, are you coming?"
Martin took out his phone: "I'm going to make a call."
Eliza said, "I'll leave the door open for you."
Martin found a quiet place, dialed Thomas's number, and told him that Eliza had invited him to the premiere.
Thomas said, "Go, you absolutely must go! Right now, any opportunity to increase your exposure and visibility is invaluable to you. I'll call Susan to coordinate, and you can talk to the director."
He specifically pointed out: "A sudden surge in fame comes from sufficient accumulation! Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, Johnny Depp—these people had already worked hard in the industry for many years and had a certain level of recognition before they truly became famous."
Martin hung up the phone, opened his phone calendar, and checked March 27th. There was still a little over a week to go.
He went to find Jaume Collet-Serra, and waited a while in front of the tow truck before Jaume Collet-Serra slowly walked over by herself.
"What's up?" Zoemi asked.
Martin nodded. "I'd like to ask for a day off."
Zomi invited, "Come in and let's talk."
The two got into the trailer, and Martin said directly, "On March 27th, Eliza wants me to go with her to Los Angeles for the premiere. It will take about three days round trip. The premiere is on Saturday, Friday..."
Zamy took out the schedule, looked at it carefully, and since the two had a good relationship and it wouldn't affect the filming too much, he immediately said, "It's easy, I'll move your scenes from next Friday to Wednesday and Thursday."
Martin chatted with Zomi for a while about hunting and they agreed to apply for a temporary gun permit for tourist hunting this weekend.
Then he found producer Susan and personally told her that although Thomas had called, an agent is an agent, and he himself is himself.
Martin had just helped the crew avert a major accident, and Susan Levine immediately agreed.
Once inside Eliza's trailer, Martin sat down in the sofa chair and said, "It's all taken care of."
"Can you go now?" Eliza really wanted Martin to accompany her to her first-ever premiere red carpet.
Martin said, "I can only go on Friday, attend the premiere on Saturday, and rush back on Sunday."
"That's great!" Eliza rushed over and kissed Martin hard. Her excitement fueled her emotions, and the surge of hormones boosted her hormones. She bit Martin's earlobe and said, "Actually, I'm not entirely a vegetarian."
Martin felt a surge of inexplicable joy: "Really?"
Eliza slowly lowered her head: "Of course it's true."
Although slightly disappointed, Martin quickly became fully engaged in the activity.
Not long after, the trailer started to sway slightly; some things are especially exciting to do on set.
At 2:30 p.m., Eliza was the first to get off the trailer, looking stunning and radiant.
Martin looked energetic, but something felt off. His leg muscles were twitching, his waist was groaning, and his stomach felt empty, like a gourd.
He had never encountered this situation before, not even when he was frequently away from home.
Martin has always been in good physical condition, and Eliza's actual combat ability is nowhere near that of either Louise or Kelly.
During the afternoon shoot, Martin was in extremely poor condition, making frequent mistakes and requiring numerous takes.
During the break, even Mene ran over: "Boss, has your body been taken over by another soul? This isn't like you."
Martin ate two bananas and felt better. He said to Mene, "Treat me to dinner tonight."
Menez immediately replied, "No problem, of course. I know a very famous vegan restaurant..."
Before he could finish speaking, Martin turned his piercing gaze over.
Mene was startled. Had he said something wrong? Could he have murdered someone and disposed of the body? His mind worked quickly, and he immediately realized, "Boss, I'll treat you to Australian barbecue."
After filming wrapped up, Martin used Menez's offer of a meal as an excuse to miss the days he had spent eating and living with Eliza.
Filming began the following morning, and the crew discovered that Martin was back in form, with most shots completed in just one or two takes.
Over the weekend, Martin, Jamie, and Bruce went to a safari company to get the necessary permits, attend training classes and take exams, and then wait a few weeks.
Martin and Eliza boarded a plane back to Los Angeles early Friday morning to attend the premiere of "The Girl Next Door".
