Chapter 105 Love Came Too Fast

At the Orphen Theatre in Los Angeles, 20th Century Fox held the premiere of "The Girl Next Door," and most of the reporters present were from Fox's media outlets.

The premiere was small-scale, with no heavyweight guests present.

Of all the cast and crew, the only one with any star quality is Eliza, who has won the Gemini Award for Best Actress twice.

The Gemini Awards are a television film award.

Naturally, the media's cameras focused entirely on Eliza, who was wearing a red dress.

And then there's Martin, walking down the red carpet hand-in-hand with Eliza.

The man was tall and handsome, and the woman was charming and sexy; at least they were very pleasing to the eye.

The film was heavily promoted, and sex comedies have always had an audience in the United States, with many young movie fans showing up on both sides of the red carpet.

Eliza smiled and waved.

The flashlight kept on continuously.

Martin and she held hands.

Eliza walked alongside Martin and noticed he was walking particularly slowly. She asked in a low voice, "Honey, are you feeling unwell?"

Martin, of course, wouldn't tell the truth: "Maybe he's hungry."

Considering their on-screen appearance, the two barely ate anything since morning.

Upon arriving at the media area, Martin put his arm around Eliza's shoulder, and several cameras appeared opposite, snapping photos of the two of them together.

What followed was a brief media interview, during which Martin discreetly stepped aside.

After asking a few questions about the movie, the entertainment channel reporter asked Martin. Eliza clung tightly to Martin's arm, her blissful expression captivating: "This is my boyfriend, Martin Davis. He's a very talented actor. What are some of his works? Haven't you seen 'Zombie Dancer'?"

Eliza took Martin's hand and led him into the theater, introducing him to the main cast and crew.

Although he didn't know anyone and had never even heard of them, Martin still greeted everyone warmly and politely, making sure Eliza didn't feel embarrassed in the slightest.

The film's lead actor, Emile Hirsch, said to Martin, "You're so lucky."

"Because I saved the galaxy in my past life," Martin said seriously.

Emil and the other actors around him were stunned for a moment.

Martin paused deliberately, then said, "So, he has won the favor of the most beautiful princess in this life."

Emil and his ilk simply thought Martin was a good talker.

Eliza, however, was aroused by these words and, disregarding that they were in a theater and the movie was about to start, hooked her arms around Martin's neck and gave him a passionate kiss.

The two sat down, but Eliza's attention was completely off the movie. She leaned close to Martin's ear and said, "I want to go back to the hotel."

Martin gently touched her lips: "Soon."

The movie wasn't long, but it was incredibly difficult for Elizabeth to watch.

Finally, after nearly two hours, the premiere ended, and the two got into the luxury car that Bruce had rented.

Elizabeth started kissing Martin as soon as she got in the car. If it weren't for Old Brooks, she would have sat directly on Martin's lap.

As Martin and Eliza got out of the car in front of the hotel, flashing lights appeared in the vicinity.

Paparazzi actually followed us.

Martin considerately shielded Eliza's face and quickly led her into the hotel.

Upon entering her room upstairs, Eliza transforms into a female knight, cutting through thorns and galloping across the land.

It wasn't until after 10 o'clock that things gradually quieted down.

Eliza casually slipped on Martin's shirt, took out her laptop, logged onto an entertainment website, and excitedly shouted to Martin, "Look, we're on a portal website!"

Martin rushed over; the website reported on the premiere of "The Girl Next Door," and there were several photos of him and Eliza in prominent positions.

A related report also mentioned Martin Davis's name.

Eliza switched to another movie forum, where she also posted about "The Girl Next Door," which included a photo of her with Martin.

Martin said, "The photographer's skills are terrible; he's not even half as good-looking as you in person."

Eliza leaned over and kissed him, then chose the best photo, saved it, uploaded it to her blog, and even added a title.

Martin patted her bottom: "I want some food?"

He called to order food, and remembering how uncomfortable he felt on set last time, he ordered a vegetarian dish and a meat dish.

After taking a shower, Eliza changed into her pajamas.

Martin went to take a shower and reminded her, "I've already ordered dinner."

After a quick shower, Martin changed into a tank top and shorts. When he came out, he saw Eliza sitting at the dining table, seemingly lost in thought.

Eliza asked, "Why didn't you order vegetarian food?"

Martin strode over: "I got you a vegan one."

Eliza didn't say anything, but sat down and slowly ate from several lunchboxes.

Martin took his portion; the aroma of the meat was irresistible. This was life.

Eliza's eyes welled up with tears, and she suddenly said, "Martin, after we finish filming this movie, shall we go on vacation to India together?"

Martin, inherently prejudiced, asked, "Why would you want to go to a place like India?"

Eliza looked at Martin with hope in her eyes: "India is a vegetarian paradise, and its natural therapies are full of spirituality. I want to go to India with you and begin a journey of self-discovery."

"Wait, India? Natural therapies?" Martin's ingrained impressions couldn't be changed by a few words: "Honey, are you kidding me? What natural therapies? Drinking Ganges water? I'd rather go see God."

As a pure plant-based vegetarian, Eliza has her own unwavering theory: "It's not about drinking Ganges water, but about experiencing the cleansing effects of vegetarianism on the human body, mind, and spirit..."

Martin didn't want to argue about this, since neither of them could convince the other, so he simply said, "Sorry, honey, I've made plans with Jamie and Bruce to go hunting after filming."

"Good heavens! Hunting?" Eliza exclaimed. "You're going to hunt animals?"

Martin shrugged: "Australia has a lot of animals that are overpopulated, and they have to hire people to clean them up and apply for licenses to hunt legally every year."

Eliza didn't argue; she simply asked, "Can't you come with me to India?"

Martin patiently explained, "I won't interfere or object if you insist on being a vegetarian, because it's your freedom. But I can't handle it; my body will break down."

"That's impossible." Tears welled up in Eliza's eyes. "Once you get through this toughest period, you'll adapt..."

Martin didn't want to continue the topic: "Let's put the dispute aside, okay?"

Eliza insisted, "Between me and eating meat, you chose to eat meat, didn't you?"

Martin shook his head: "No, because the two don't conflict at all."

Eliza wiped away her tears with the back of her hand. "You made your choice." She slowly stood up. "I'm sorry, Martin, I'm so sorry, I have to go."

Martin understood what she meant. What else could he say? He sighed and said, "It's too late. I'll go. You should get some rest."

Eliza said nothing more.

Martin quickly packed his luggage, didn't change his clothes, and went out wearing slippers, a T-shirt, and shorts, dragging his suitcase.

Eliza collected Martin's lunchbox, threw it all into the trash can, went to her laptop, and deleted all content related to Martin.

Everything, from photos to blog posts, has been deleted.

She hugged her knees, buried her head in her legs, and began to cry.

Eliza has steadfastly chosen to be a vegetarian.

Martin went downstairs and called Bruce: "Bruce, where are you? If you didn't get in through the back door, come pick me up at the hotel."

Soon, Bruce drove up in Martin's Volkswagen.

Martin put his luggage away, got into the car, and said, "Let's find a place to get something to eat and have a drink."

Bruce glanced at him and asked, "Kicked out? Finished so quickly?"

Martin gestured, unsure of what to say.

"It's normal for men to be heartbroken," Bruce comforted him. "Even someone as good as me got dumped by Monica."

Martin said, "That's because you're a pervert!"

Bruce asked, "Aren't you a pervert? You're even more perverted than me!"

Martin didn't elaborate: "It's because I'm too normal."

Bruce said, "Yes, that's perfectly normal. When romantic feelings come too quickly, they also fade away just as quickly."

Martin suddenly thought of the red carpet: "Showing off your love will get you killed quickly."

Bruce deliberately said, "There's an Indian restaurant that makes really good vegetarian food, you should try it."

Martin was enraged. He opened the storage compartment to reach for his gun: "I'm going to smash your stinking shit head in today! I want to see if civilized people's brains are made of dog shit!"

The car suddenly stopped, and the Brazilian barbecue restaurant on the side of the road was brightly lit.

"You're smart to know what's good for you!" Martin closed the glove compartment, opened the door, and got out of the car. "I want meat! I fucking want meat!"

Bruce locked the car and beckoned Martin inside: "It's on me tonight, you can eat your fill."

Martin vented his emotions: "I'm going to eat all the meat in this restaurant!"

The two went into the store and ordered beer and barbecue.

After eating meat and drinking wine to his heart's content, Martin finally felt a bit better: "Old Brooks, this is life!"

Bruce warned, "If you eat like this, you'll get so sick of it soon you'll feel like throwing up."

Martin clinked glasses with him: "Just this once."

After a satisfying meal, Martin remembered something, took out Thomas's phone, and made a call.

"Damn it, why are you calling me so late!" Thomas roared. "I was just falling asleep!"

Hearing his agent get angry, Martin's mood inexplicably improved, and he said, "You told me to inform my agent immediately if there are any problems in my relationship."

Thomas reacted quickly: "You broke up with Eliza? Martin, you just crashed Eliza's premiere red carpet and then dumped her? Have you no morals at all? Even I, her agent, think you're a scumbag!"

Martin didn't want to say more: "Interpret it however you like, I'm officially informing you that Martin Davis is single again."

Bruce suddenly said, "You haven't even learned a tenth of Old Jack's skills."

Thomas overheard this and asked on the phone, "Who is Old Jack?"

Martin casually brushed it off: "The most talented person after me." He invited, "You're awake, perfect timing. Come out for a drink, see you in Avalon."

Three bored single men drank until 2 a.m. before finally parting ways.
