Chapter 139 The Real Purpose

Chapter 139 The Real Purpose

An assistant producer from the crew rushed over to handle the chaos in the restaurant. Aibo was able to land a leading role because he had powerful backers, so he wouldn't be fired from the crew because of this.

But since Erica, who was closest to her, publicly accused her, they would eventually have to reconcile.

The restaurant quickly quieted down, and the assistant producer took the two to the crew office to discuss the matter.

After finishing his meal, Martin walked back and asked Blake, who had followed him, "She's the mastermind? That's why you took action..."

Blake kept shaking her head: "This has nothing to do with me. April and I are best friends. When we face the media in the future, the four of us sisters will definitely love each other and be like a family. How could we have such a conflict?"

This matter involved Martin, who was happy to see April suffer, and gave a thumbs up, saying, "Well done."

"Actually, I wanted to thank you," Blake explained when he saw Martin's confusion. "The duel with the Rattlesnake made me understand a lot of things and was very enlightening."

She turned to stare at Martin: "You're not only my idol, but also my teacher."

Martin looked confused: "What? A duel with Rattlesnake? I was drunk and out of my mind, which is why Vogel and I ran off to the middle of nowhere. Luckily, I came to my senses in time."

Blake just laughed.

Martin will never change this statement.

Upon arriving at the hotel lobby, Eric indeed came to apologize to Martin.

Martin simply lamented that children raised by the same parents can be so different.

Bruce went upstairs and into his room, then closed the door.

Martin said, "There are just a few more scenes to film, and then I can go back to Los Angeles for a vacation."

Bruce specifically asked, "Aren't you here with Blake?"

"Her?" Martin asked in surprise. "How could I give you that impression? Old Brook, she's actually quite strong-willed. If she learns from us for a few months, she'll be able to fly."

Bruce said, "It's none of my business, it's none of your business."

Martin, preparing to rest for a while, said as he went to his bedroom, "I want to be a good person."

…………

On the hotel beach, the film crew laid out camera tracks.

The assistant director was giving a speech to a group of Mexican female players when director Carpis approached Martin and Blake.

"You've rehearsed your lines, good luck!" He mainly encouraged us, adding, "We'll try to get this one right in one take!"

Martin is very serious about his work: "I do my best."

Blake said, "I'm fine."

With the crew ready, filming officially began as the script supervisor clapped the clapperboard.

Martin led a group of female athletes on a run on the beach, shouting as they ran, "Keep up, don't fall behind!"

He turned around and ran backwards: "Come on! Watch your breathing, keep up with me!"

In the crowd, Blake suddenly accelerated, overtaking the others and running alongside Martin.

Martin turned around, and the two ran forward together.

The camera moved along the slider and kept capturing the conversation between the two.

The two ran faster and faster, taking the lead over the others, and the camera quickly captured only their backs.

"OK, passed!" Kapis shouted.

Martin was the first to stop and walk slowly to catch his breath.

Blake, hands on his hips, gradually caught up: "Are you going back to Los Angeles?"

Martin said, "The crew booked my plane ticket. There are no free hotels to stay in here. I've been away for so long and I'm tired."

Blake walked to a rock and leaned against it. "Where do you live?"

Martin mumbled, "It's a small apartment in North Hollywood. As you can see, I'm broke and can't afford a better place right now."

"You've starred in these two films back-to-back, so your income must be quite high," Blake suggested. "Why don't you move to Burbank? I went to school here."

Martin shrugged. "I'm not planning to move for now. The landlord's a nice guy." He glanced at the film crew. "Let's go back."

The two returned to the film set, where Martin had finished filming all his scenes.

Director Kapis, on behalf of the crew, presented him with a soccer ball: "The one you kicked away during filming."

Martin smiled and continued, "It's very memorable."

He high-fived the main cast and crew members and exchanged a few polite words.

The crew had to continue filming, so Martin didn't linger. He returned to the hotel with Bruce, packed their luggage and the small gifts they had bought, added two souvenirs given to them by the crew, and headed to the airport.

That afternoon, he took a plane back to Los Angeles.

After leaving the airport, Bruce went to get the car, while Martin bought several entertainment magazines before getting in and sat in the passenger seat flipping through them.

Back in Los Angeles, Martin turned his attention to "House of Wax," which was released in October: "Kim Kardashian revealed a lot about Paris and even appeared on television."

Bruce specifically stated, "We had an agreement: I would use Kim as a practice subject, and then try to create news buzz for 'House of Wax' through her and Paris. The film is still over a month away from release. I can control Kim, but I don't have media resources. It's up to you to figure something out."

Although Martin's role is only second, the film's success brings many benefits.

During filming, Bruce wanted to practice on gold, and the two discussed it carefully.

Martin considered for a moment: "Susan said that the production team used Paris because she could bring in funds, and she had popularity, which would naturally attract a group of viewers. The general public prefers to see a scandal-ridden heiress rather than a well-behaved daughter of a wealthy family."

Bruce expressed his true feelings: "Without the videotapes and the scandal, I wouldn't bother watching her."

Martin thought to himself, "I'm going to see Jaume Coleman and Susan tomorrow. You keep an eye on Kim's pace of revealing information. If she can get Warner Bros.' publicity resources to push things along, the effect will be even better."

Bruce nodded, then suddenly said, "We're two stinking turds."

Martin pointed at him and said, "You're shit, I'm not."

Bruce drove out of the airport area, accelerating as he said, "Your only talent is stored in your head."

Martin folded up the newspapers: "Old Brooks, do you want to go back to the past?"

Bruce said, "If you're finished, I'm leaving."

"I understand," Martin said earnestly. "Sophia has been waiting for you."

These words instantly killed the conversation; Bruce didn't want to talk to this trash anymore.

Arriving in North Hollywood, they parked the car and walked back carrying their bags.

Just as he was about to go upstairs, Antonio, dressed in a formal suit, slowly rolled down the stairs like a ball.

Martin greeted him, "New clothes? You must have them custom-made, right?"

Antonio was too wide and the stairs too narrow, so he pointed at Martin and Bruce: "You two get out of the way, don't get my new clothes dirty."

Martin said, "Dude, I've been gone for almost two months, don't you miss me?"

Antonio looked disgusted: "The apartment is so quiet when you're not here; nobody ever bothers me to sleep at night."

"Their novelty has worn off." Martin stepped back down the stairs, making way for him. "Where are you going?"

Antonio said, "Participate in a community event and donate money."

Bruce said, "You're donating money?"

Antonio raised his chin, which seemed to have several layers deep: "You're not qualified to donate."

After he moved down, Martin and Bruce carried their luggage up to the second floor. As they passed by the door diagonally opposite, the door opened from the inside.

Emily came out to greet them: "Old Brooks, Martin, good afternoon, you just got back?"

Martin patted his heavy suitcase: "I haven't even stepped inside the house yet."

Jessica came out from the doorway: "Do you need us to help clean the room? It must be quite dusty."

Martin said, "No need."

Bruce opened the door and together with Martin, they uncovered the room. It had been over a month since they'd been back, and everything was covered in dust.

Martin went to get his tools, ready to clean thoroughly.

The room was filled with dust, and Bruce sneezed several times in a row. He quickly opened the door and windows, allowing air to circulate and making the situation slightly better.

There was a gentle knock on the door, and Emily stood outside, saying, "We're neighbors, we've come to help."

When Martin was in Atlanta, Elena was always in charge of his hygiene and clothing. Having gotten used to being treated like royalty, she didn't refuse again: "Thank you for your help."

Emily and Jessica came in and helped with the cleaning.

Jessica took the tools from Martin: "With more people, it'll be quick."

Martin didn't stand on ceremony and went to get a rag.

The four of them worked quickly, cleaning up the area before heading to Bruce's side.

After everything was cleaned up, Bruce prepared to treat everyone, but Emily and Jessica politely declined, as they had acting classes that evening.

Martin found some saltwater crocodile tooth pendants and gave one to each person.

Seeing that the stock was running low, after seeing Jessica and Emily off, Martin called the hunting club in Australia again and asked them to make another batch.

Bruce conceded, "I finally understand what a scumbag's true nature is."

Martin retorted, "What does it have to do with being a jerk if someone helps with cleaning and gives you a small gift as a courtesy?"

"I'm meeting Kim tonight, I won't be back." Bruce left.

Martin carefully packed his luggage, putting away his baseball bat and soccer ball carefully, then took out his phone and dialed Thomas's number: "I'm back, do you have time?"

Inside the office cubicle, Thomas felt inexplicably flustered and forced himself to say, "I have a date tonight."

Martin loosened the reins a bit: "I just got back, nothing important, you go about your business."

Thomas breathed a sigh of relief, and surprisingly felt that Martin was quite reasonable: "Take a few days off, and I'll contact you again later."

Martin hung up the phone, took out his notebook, checked the important records, and then made a call to Atlanta.

"You actually called me?" Harris asked, her voice tinged with surprise. "Martin, is something important?"

Martin had previously asked Bruce to look up the relevant models: "Go buy me a Cadillac and give it to Robert of the Marietta Theatre Company. You've met him; he has a big head."

Harris replied, "No problem."

Martin specifically instructed, "Don't send it to the theater company, send it directly to Robert's house."

Harris readily agreed.

Martin's decision to give Robert the car was something he had planned before going to Mexico.

Robert didn't want to leave his hometown to develop his career in Los Angeles, and he couldn't force him.

Martin took a shower, changed into new clothes, and then called Louise: "Hey, you drunkard, I'm back. Want to go for drinks tonight?"

Louise's cheerful laughter came through the phone: "Shall I come over?"

"No, the landlord really knows how to shoot." Martin, now having a change of heart, didn't want to disturb all the neighbors in the building: "I'll come find you instead."

Louise's unchanging motto: "You may come, but don't forget to bring the new recipe."
