Chapter 308 Four Years of Professional Troublemaking
Chapter 308 Forty Years of Professional Troublemaking
These three scoundrels are used to getting along well together.
Life is about making money to enjoy life, and creating fun is also a kind of enjoyment.
Nicholson stared at Martin.
"Jack, I admit, Leo and I set off the firecrackers." When the wind and waves were at their worst, Martin kept turning the rudder: "We originally just wanted to set off a firecracker a little further away as a gift for you."
He had already prepared his reason: "You said you got together with Meryl in 1981, this is to celebrate you and Meryl... becoming lovers."
Leonardo wanted to laugh, but held it back: "Yes! It's a silver love gift for you."
How could Nicholson possibly believe these two bastards? "Keep making things up. I'll get you into the Writers Guild and win Best Screenplay."
"I swear, we were definitely bringing you a gift," Martin said without a shred of conscience, because it really was a gift. He then continued his fabrication: "But when we got there, we found those two scumbags, Bale and Blanchett! Do you know what they were doing?"
He heard Saoirse say, "Those two shameless bastards were actually following you around, spying on you, and then they were messing around together!"
Leonardo DiCaprio's performance this time was completely natural: "A small actress named Saoirse from the Atonement crew discovered it, and she told us. Jack, you can go to the set and ask her."
Martin continued, "How could we allow those two bastards to do such a despicable thing? You're the leader of the trio; if anyone's going to be messed with, it should be us, not those two scumbags. So we opened fire on them!"
Leonardo tried his best not to use his three-pronged approach: "Martin and I were there to protect you!"
Nicholson, of course, didn't believe it: "And then you'll bombard me with criticism? Very well, you wait and see. As your leader, I'll definitely return the favor with a big gift."
Martin laughed, "We're family, no need to be so polite."
Leonardo said, "You should keep it for yourself."
Nicholson, however, was thinking about something else entirely. These two bastards could bombard the forest, and even shoot into the sky, exploding in mid-air. That was quite interesting.
He sat on the sofa, crossed his legs, and said, "Hand over your weapons, and I'll trust you."
Martin feigned reluctance: "This is our homemade secret weapon..."
Nicholson said, "I'm going to contact the Sun's reporter."
Martin answered without hesitation, "You're the boss, I'll listen to you."
Leonardo, that scoundrel, secretly gave Martin a wink.
Martin understood and nodded slightly.
Nicholson urged, "Hurry up, take it out!"
Martin took out his phone and made a call to Old Brooks.
Not long after, Bruce brought two black cloth bags into the room.
Martin opened the bag containing firecrackers, and Leonardo took out a handmade mortar and slung it over his shoulder.
Nicholson, a man of wide experience, picked up a firecracker and said, "This is a special firecracker that is often set off during festivals in Chinatown."
He glanced at the steel pipe again and nodded, "Using a steel pipe to control its trajectory after launch—who came up with that idea? What a fucking idiot!"
Leonardo immediately betrayed Martin, pointing over there.
Martin reminded Nicholson, "You like cigars, so don't keep them with your cigarettes. If you grab the wrong mouthpiece, you'll run out."
He specifically emphasized: "Whatever you do is your personal action and you cannot say it has anything to do with me or Leo."
Nicholson assured him, "When has old Jack ever betrayed his brothers?"
Leonardo deliberately said, "There are even more people in the pine forest at night. You can have fun if you want, but don't go there and fire the cannons..."
These words reminded Nicholson, who waved his hand and said, "It's a deal, the stuff is mine, the rest is none of your business."
Martin and Leonardo exchanged a glance, and the former said, "Be careful, old Jack. If you want to have fun, you'd better find a loader."
Nicholson nodded: "I understand."
He picked up his bag, left the room, returned to his suite, and the seriousness on his face disappeared. He looked at the two bags and laughed happily.
With the steel pipe slung over his shoulder, Nicholson inserted a firecracker into it, assuming a firing stance.
But it didn't light up, which was very frustrating, so I could only imagine it randomly.
As we all know, playing a game like firing cannons is completely different from actually doing it.
Nicholson was eager to actually fire a few shots, and finding a loader was easy. Being a seasoned troublemaker, he pulled out his phone and dialed his partner of 25 years: "Meryl, come to my room, I have something good to show you!"
Meryl was very dissatisfied in the afternoon: "What good stuff? Your piece of junk? It's all limp and slug-like."
Despite saying that, Meryl still went to Nicholson's room.
In another room, Leonardo asked, "Do you think Jack will go tonight?"
Martin asked, "If you were in his shoes, would you go?"
Leonardo DiCaprio, speaking from his own experience, said, "How could I resist something this fun?" He laughed, "With Jack's forty years of experience in causing trouble, there's no way he'd pass up an opportunity like this."
Martin was very worried about Nicholson's safety: "If old Jack gets caught, won't he be beaten to death?"
Leonardo said, "Probably not. His face is very distinctive. At most, he'll be beaten half to death."
Playing around is one thing, but we can't let Nicholson actually fall into the trap. Martin thought for a moment, then called Bruce and asked him to keep an eye on Nicholson's movements.
Around dinnertime, Kate Winslet called, wanting to talk to Martin about rehearsals.
Martin thought for a moment and said, "Let's wait until tomorrow. I have to go out tonight and I might be back late."
There were no scenes for Martin to film these past two days, and Kate said, "Okay, I'll contact you again after get off work tomorrow."
On the way back from Pinewood Studios, Kate put down her phone. Because the filming of those scenes hadn't gone smoothly, the crew had to change their plans and film the individual scenes first to allow enough time for the two actors to rehearse.
Those kinds of plays are very difficult to rehearse.
Kate is a mature actress and has no psychological barriers to this; she has even considered methods used by some people in Hollywood.
This film was very important to her; for the sake of her long-awaited Oscar for Best Actress, she went to the most extreme level of her acting career.
It's normal to make sacrifices for art.
Looking back, apart from those artificially promoted ones, all the others have made groundbreaking performances.
Kate knew very well that in order to win more votes from the judges when competing for awards in the future, public relations were key, but breakthroughs were fundamental.
Back at her hotel, she rested in her room for a while and then decided to talk to her husband, Sam Mendes, the director of the project.
As the female lead, the project's initiator and producer, Kate intends to take initiative.
…………
As darkness fell, Martin received a call from Bruce. Nicholson personally drove Meryl away from the hotel, turning onto the road leading to Pinewood Studios.
Leonardo said, "Let's go see the show!"
It wasn't too hot today; the wind was a bit cool after the sun went down. Martin took out two hoodies, tossed one to Leonard, and corrected him as they walked, "We're not going to watch a show; we're going to cover for our own brothers."
Leonardo, having finished dressing, said, "Dude, you're a good man! No, we're good men, the royal family should award us medals."
The two went downstairs, where Old Bu was already waiting in his car. They got in and headed straight for Pinewood Studios.
Martin asked, "Are there still many people at the studio this late?"
Bruce had looked into the situation: "There are quite a few film crews shooting night scenes tonight. The Harry Potter crew has been shooting night scenes recently."
Upon arriving at the studio entrance, the three saw Nicholson's car and immediately went inside to transfer to a battery-powered vehicle, heading straight for the pine forest.
The Songlin Film Studio was built decades ago, and many of its facilities are old. Some of the streetlights near Songlin are damaged, and those that aren't broken are just casting a weak, yellowish glow.
Nicholson emerged from behind a pine tree, hoisted a steel pipe onto his shoulder, and said, "Be careful, don't order the wrong thing."
Meryl lit the firecracker and stuffed it into the steel pipe. After a muffled thud, a loud explosion came from mid-air, followed by a burst of colorful smoke!
"Ha ha……"
Nicholson exclaimed excitedly, "Interesting! Quick, load more shells!"
Meryl Streep appears poised and elegant in public, like a noblewoman, but like all actors, she is a completely different person in private, especially when she is with Nicholson.
As she loaded the shells, she shouted, "Fire! Blow those shameless sluts out of there!"
Compared to Martin and Leonardo, those two fired randomly, bombing everywhere.
Amidst piercing screams, a teenage boy and girl ran out from dozens of meters away and rushed towards the light.
That shameless old man Nicholson kept calling out names while firing cannons, just to embarrass the other side: "Look, look who these are, Hermione and Malfoy!"
Meryl was thrilled; all the pent-up frustration from the day was released at once, like an orgasm: "Continue, continue! Don't stop!"
Above and inside the dark pine forest, bursts of red mist suddenly erupted.
Even though Martin and Leonardo had caused quite a stir in the afternoon, there were still quite a few people tonight, their figures swaying constantly in the moonlight.
Suddenly, someone shouted, "That troublemaker is over there! Hey, don't run away, let's go and take him down!"
"Get them!" Six or seven dark figures ran towards them from a distance.
Nicholson, being old, knew he couldn't fight head-on, and immediately called to Meryl, "Run!"
The two of them turned and ran.
The electric scooter was parked not far away. Nicholson got on, watched Meryl sit down, and then floored the accelerator.
He had only run less than 100 meters when three cars caught up with him.
Then, more cars followed.
Suddenly, the entire northern part of the studio was in chaos.
Martin and Leonardo put on hoods, drove into the pursuing vehicles, and joined in the shouting and commotion.
"There are two of them!" shouted the hot-blooded young Malfoy from the car ahead. "Stop them! Stop those two bastards and beat them so badly their own parents won't recognize them!"
Leonardo shouted in a strained voice, "Break their legs!"
Martin switched to a British accent: "Break the third leg of the men, and drive the women crazy with bean-throwing!"
As the lead electric scooter reached the brightly lit area, Malfoy exclaimed in surprise, "Jack Nicholson! Meryl Streep! Fuck, how could it be them!"
Once his name was called out, Nicholson ran even faster.
Martin and Leonardo laughed heartily, saying that The Sun would be sold out tomorrow.
