Chapter 656 Warner Bros. Invites Martin to the Premiere
Chapter 656 Warner Bros. Invites Martin to the Premiere
After watching for a while, Martin was about to return to his studio when a Lexus suddenly drove up and stopped on the right side of the road where the "Mars Rescue" crew was located.
Jerry Bruckheimer and Megan Ellison got out of the car one after the other.
Although the former had never dealt with Martin before, the Hollywood circle isn't that big, so they knew each other. He nodded to Martin and then turned to go to the studio.
Megan Ellison also saw Martin, but instead of leaving, she smiled in their direction.
Originally, she didn't have any feelings for Martin, and taking over the project was purely a business transaction.
But at the Oscar nominees luncheon, Martin snatched Jessica Chastain away from her, and Megan Ellison has already put him on her enemy list.
Martin completely ignored her, as if she were just a lump of air in front of him.
With his acting skills, it would be very easy for him to make the other person feel this way.
Megan Ellison considers herself a winner in every sense of the word, having defeated Martin twice in a row.
Just as Larry Ellison flaunted his victory in front of Bill Gates, Megan Ellison wouldn't miss the chance to mock the loser to his face.
The domineering female CEO walked towards Martin and said bluntly, "You lost."
Martin ignored her completely and didn't even respond to her.
Megan Ellison continued, "In terms of funding and resources, you're nowhere near as good as me." She was particularly confident, then turned and pointed to Jerry Bruceheimer, who was about to enter the studio: "In terms of production team, you're just as bad as me."
Martin didn't want to get entangled with women in this kind of place, so he turned and walked towards the soundstage for "The Martian".
Megan Ellison came over to mess with someone, but after only a couple of tries, before she even got her fill, the person wanted to run away. How can that be allowed?
Even if the other party leaves, she wants to seize the moment and enjoy herself: "Martin Davis, I haven't thanked you yet. Thank you for providing me with such an excellent investment project."
Martin, having finished his act, paused, stopped, veins bulging on his neck, turned around, his face contorted with barely suppressed rage, his eyes blazing with anger like bullets.
Megan Ellison waved her hand behind her back, signaling the six bodyguards in the other two cars to prepare to act.
Martin is like a volcano about to erupt.
Megan Ellison is hoping Martin will make his move, and then his bodyguards will swarm in to test the true worth of this American national hero.
This is the highest level of business warfare.
This is the most appropriate way to represent top-level business warfare.
They simply and cleanly destroy people!
Martin forced out a sentence through gritted teeth: "You're welcome."
Megan Ellison was clearly following in her father's footsteps: "Hopefully there will be another chance to thank you."
Martin didn't say a word, turned around, and walked towards the photography studio.
At that moment, his desolate figure resembled a defeated person fleeing in disarray...
Megan Ellison felt a great deal of relief after being vented her anger at being poached so openly, and she felt inexplicably happy.
Although she didn't manage to seduce Martin into making a move against her, the two studios are so close together, there will be plenty of opportunities later.
Martin arrived at the studio entrance and found Louise standing there watching the show.
Louise accompanied him into the photo studio and asked, "Is this really necessary?"
Martin said in a low voice as he walked, "No matter how rich Megan Ellison is, she invests in the production in batches. I need to strengthen her confidence in investing."
Louise cautioned, "The other side has Jerry Bruckheimer's top-notch production team, and they've got Gore Verbinski as the director. Are you really that confident in that project?"
"I have no confidence in the project," Martin reiterated. "I have absolute confidence in Johnny Depp."
The Pirates of the Caribbean series not only features a charismatic captain, but also a superstar who can drive any crew member crazy.
If the movies he stars in can still be box office hits, none of these are problems. Even the "poop incident" and divorce case from his previous life can be suppressed by the relevant stakeholders. But if his commercial appeal is gone, these will become big problems.
Martin first went to the scenic area to visit the potatoes planted by the film crew, which have already sprouted seedlings.
Then he went to the Mars camp alone to experience the feeling of being all alone.
In this drama, most of the male lead's scenes are solo performances, which are difficult to act and even more difficult to make stand out.
Martin plans to spend about ten days living there alone once the barracks are built, in order to experience life there.
This will also be used as a gimmick when it comes to later publicity and hype.
Martin can exercise and won't get bored.
As Martin emerged from the Mars camp, he saw Thomas.
The latter came specifically to find him, holding an invitation in his hand: "An invitation personally signed by Warner Bros. Chairman Jon Berg, inviting you to the world premiere of 'Owls and Gods' at the end of the month."
Martin took it and glanced at it, then said, "Reply to Warner Bros. that I will attend."
He added, "After all, this is a Ridley Scott film."
Regardless of the film's commercial prospects, Warner Bros. invited him, and since he is still working with Ridley Scott on a new film, he should attend.
Thomas added, "DC Studios held an internal screening of Green Lantern, and the internal response was reportedly excellent. Warner Bros. even leaked that it was the most visually stunning and outstanding superhero movie to date."
Martin asked, "The internal screening was all very positive?"
"It's received rave reviews," Thomas said. "DC Studios' Hamada claimed in an interview that it's a superhero movie that can rival The Dark Knight."
Martin hasn't seen the preview screening, so he can't comment.
But the following morning, he saw the poster for "Green Lantern" released by DC Films, which was almost identical to the Ryan Reynolds he remembered. The only change was that the female lead next to the male lead was replaced by Australian actress Abby Cornish.
Blake Lively took Martin's advice and declined the role in the project, instead taking on the lead role in "Pitch Perfect".
This film won't be released until the end of the year or next year.
With the interior of the Mars camp completed, Martin went through all the work that needed to be done before retreating to experience a solitary life.
He even made a special trip to the studio of "Napoleon's Beauty Pass".
Marius and Alexandrovich are preparing a film. The latter's fiancée, Olina, is currently unemployed. As a producer and screenwriter, she has begun to try to write the presidential script that her fiancé mentioned.
It's not a movie, but a TV series.
The three took it very seriously and specifically consulted Martin on the basic settings and the main storyline of the first season.
After all, once they've written the script, they still need Martin's studio to invest in filming it.
In the conference room, Martin sat on the sofa and looked at the outline written by Olena. The story was about a TV star preparing to run for election.
Although the initial idea was for a celebrity to become president, after reading the earlier parts, Martin felt something was off. The story and characters always seemed to float in the air, creating a sense of distance from ordinary people.
He quickly realized that, in every sense, celebrities are no longer ordinary people.
This setting is not good.
Martin asked, "Are the Ukrainians satisfied with those in power? Or are they extremely resentful?"
Alexandrovich continued, "Ukraine is now an oligarchy, with the country's and economy's lifeline controlled by a very small number of oligarchs. Ordinary people are having a hard time, and the outflow of young Ukrainian women speaks volumes."
Martin nodded and said, "Our previous approach was flawed. The male lead's entertainment star character was too detached from the audience. Listen to my current ideas: an ordinary person, but whose social status shouldn't be too low, and who should ideally possess certain knowledge and insight, who should gradually rise from the ordinary class and then compete at the high-level political arena."
Marius immediately understood: "The idea of ordinary people climbing the ladder, changing their fate and, in doing so, changing the country, would create a greater sense of identification and anticipation for the audience?"
Martin said, "That's right, it started with an ordinary, somewhat pathetic middle-aged man, tormented by family and life to the point of anxiety, yet he was able to represent the interests of ordinary people, and then he rose to become president."
Since arriving at the lighthouse of his dreams, Alexandrovich's mind has become exceptionally active. He said, "I've thought of a profession: an ordinary teacher, and specifically a history teacher."
Martin thought for a moment: "The setting of a history teacher is good. Understanding history makes it easier to criticize current affairs."
Inspired by Martin's earlier words, Alexandrovich's creativity flowed like a spring: "After gaining a certain reputation for his frankness and courage, the oligarchs who ruled the country tried to buy him off, but he was undeterred by the dangers and decided to become the people's spokesperson and truly change the country!"
Marius stated, "The absurd corruption of oligarchic politics and social unrest provide us with ample fodder and capture the attention of the Ukrainian people!"
Alexandrovich added, "Ukrainians are filled with fear of this country, but within that fear lies hope. The real Ukrainians are waiting for the changes they have fought for, waiting for a wise leader to guide them to develop into the country of their dreams."
Martin could imagine that the show had a high chance of success: "If this show can show Ukrainians another world, a dream world where they can laugh to their heart's content, it will definitely be a huge success."
His gaze swept over each of them: "The three of you, I have full confidence in you, you are the most outstanding Ukrainians."
Alexandrovich asked a crucial question: "Are we able to film, produce, and broadcast it?"
Martin said, "I guarantee that all the profits from 'Napoleon's Beauty Gate' will be invested in the production of this series. At the very least, the series will be broadcast on video websites in North America, but you'll have to figure out how to handle things in Ukraine."
Marius said, "As long as it airs on Ukrainian television in North America, there shouldn't be a problem."
"The script will be written along this line of thought," Martin said to Olina before going outside to answer the phone.
Olena watched Martin's retreating figure: "He's a generous and charismatic man!"
After Martin returned, the four of them discussed it and decided to name the play "Servants of the People".
