Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 147 An Invitation from the National Team!
Chapter 147 An Invitation from the National Team! (First Update)
"This must be Mr. Jerry Carmen. I just watched your game, it was fantastic! I'm Myle Booth, the coach of the English Quidditch team!"
As soon as Jerry entered the office, the tall, middle-aged wizard immediately stood up and took Jerry's hand.
Upon seeing this, the short, stout middle-aged wizard's lips twitched slightly. He sighed inwardly at how a national team coach could be so unreserved. However, he didn't dare to be negligent and quickly followed suit, getting up and coming to Jerry's side.
"Hello, Mr. Carmen, I'm Hunter Ramson, the coach of the Scottish Quidditch team!"
"Um, hello everyone!"
Upon hearing their self-introductions, Jerry vaguely understood something and smiled as he shook hands with them.
It turns out that the legendary story of Jerry catching the Golden Snitch in less than a minute during the Slytherin vs. Gryffindor match last semester has spread throughout Hogwarts.
The news also reached the ears of the coaches of the two national Quidditch teams in England through the Hogsmeade wizards who came to watch and the young wizards who went home for the Christmas holidays.
That's how we ended up meeting today.
"I think we should all sit down, have a glass of honey lemonade, and talk things over. Mr. Carmen also needs to know the facts before making a decision!"
Dumbledore, who was sitting there, smiled and waved to everyone, and six glasses of honey lemonade immediately appeared on the table.
"We got a little too excited!"
The coaches of both teams nodded quickly.
The Scottish Quidditch team and the English Quidditch team both belong to the British Quidditch Association, but that doesn't mean the two teams have no rivalry.
The two of them came here for two reasons: first, to confirm whether Jerry was as good as rumored; and second, to make an exception and recruit Jerry to their team as a finder.
Of course, whether he joins the Scottish Quidditch team or the English Quidditch team depends on the abilities of the two coaches and Jerry's choice.
In fact, according to the rules, Jerry should not be able to join the national Quidditch team at his age, but unfortunately, neither the Scottish nor the English teams have won the World Quidditch Championship in recent years.
The best result was two years ago, when Scotland narrowly missed the championship and finished as runners-up, ultimately losing to Canada. As for the English team, let's not even mention them!
Furthermore, Jerry's talent is astonishing. Although, in terms of speed, the Golden Snitch used in the school competition is not as fast as the Golden Snitch used in the world competition.
But Jerry's ability to catch the Golden Snitch in one minute truly surprised both coaches, as no national team Seeker had ever accomplished this feat before.
That's why, after applying, the two made an exception and came to Hogwarts to recruit Jerry into the team.
The rules are set for ordinary people, but for true geniuses, there will naturally be people willing to break the rules for them.
After taking a few sips of lemonade, Jerry listened to Dumbledore's brief explanation of why the two coaches had come to Hogwarts. Looking at the two expectant coaches, he decisively replied:
"Excuse me, gentlemen, I don't plan to join the national Quidditch team at the moment. After all, I'm still a first-year student, and I need to attend classes and study magic at school, rather than spending every day outside of school training and playing Quidditch!"
He's very busy studying magic right now, so where would he find the time to go to some national Quidditch team? Wouldn't that be a waste of time?
No matter how skilled or legendary the Seeker is, he'll still be killed by Voldemort's Killing Curse.
Although becoming the Seeker for the National Quidditch Team would certainly bring him great fame and benefit his future plans, fame is only secondary; ability is more important. He can still distinguish between what's important and what's urgent.
"You don't need to worry about the time. We've already discussed it with Headmaster Dumbledore, and a fireplace will be specially set up at Hogwarts. You can reach our team directly via Floo Powder!"
The tall coach quickly offered an explanation.
The short coach chimed in:
"Mr. Carmen, it will absolutely not interfere with your study time. Our training time will be scheduled when you don't have classes on weekends or during long holidays."
Besides the Quidditch World Cup, we don't have many Quidditch matches with other countries each year!
"Sorry, I need to study magic on weekends and holidays. My dream is to become a righteous Auror. Quidditch is just a hobby, and I don't plan to become a professional Quidditch player in the future!"
Jerry refused again.
Are you kidding me, going to your place to train on weekends and holidays?
The two coaches immediately panicked. They had come here only because they were worried that Jerry might not be as good as the rumors suggested, but they never expected that Jerry would refuse to join the national team.
What young wizard could resist the allure of participating in the World Quidditch Cup and becoming a world-renowned Quidditch player?
"If you feel that training takes up too much time, I can waive the requirement for you to come on weekends. You can come during a long vacation, such as summer vacation!"
Scottish coach Hunter Ramson considered it for a moment and relaxed the conditions.
Traveling back and forth on weekends might indeed interfere with my studies, but with a holiday of more than two months, it shouldn't interfere with my studies, right?
England's coach, Meyer Booth, glanced at Meyer with some surprise, hesitated for a while, and finally gritted his teeth and made more lenient terms.
"You don't have to come to training on weekends and during summer vacation, just like you are now. I will come to pick you up specifically for the competitions, and the competitions will all be during your vacation, so it won't interfere with your studies!"
In the last World Quidditch Cup, the Scottish Quidditch team at least won the runner-up position, while the English team didn't even make it into the top five.
Therefore, Meyer Booth was determined to get Jerry, a player with exceptional talent, this time.
However, Jerry still refused.
He felt that national team matches often required traveling abroad, and the events were not as simple as Hogwarts.
Traveling to other countries several times a year to participate in competitions is quite a waste of time. For a larger competition, it can take four or five days to travel back and forth.
The two coaches were dumbfounded. If Jerry really didn't want to join the national team, there was nothing they could do.
"Jerry, the Quidditch players on the national team are different from the Quidditch players on the school team. They get paid, at least 300 Galleons a month, and there are extra bonuses for winning matches!"
Just then, Jerry heard Snape's deep, emotionless voice.
"Ahem, actually, I think I can reconsider!"
Upon hearing Snape's deliberately lowered voice, Jerry's attitude instantly underwent a complete 180-degree turn.
