Chapter 164 Final Exams (Third Update)

"It seems the saying that these three unforgivable curses can subtly influence one's mind is no joke. We should use them as little as possible in the future!"

With a sigh, Jerry waved his hand and cast a fire spell, burning Professor Quirrell's body to ashes. He then left the Forbidden Forest and sneaked back towards Hogwarts Castle.

The white light from the unicorn wasn't some kind of offensive magic; it was a sacred magic unique to unicorns. Its function was simple: to purify the mind, or, as Jerry felt, to return to one's true self.

Since learning the three unforgivable curses, he has dedicated time to practicing them almost every day in order to achieve sufficient lethality.

To master these three spells, emotions are key; the more malice you have in your emotions, the more powerful the spell will be.

In the long run, although these curses will not actually affect the soul, some side effects will inevitably occur.

Just like if a person kills all year round, he will become contemptuous of life. If a person thinks about killing and torturing people every day, he can easily become a pervert.

Jerry has tried his best to eliminate these negative emotions by enhancing his mental alertness, but he is still subtly affected to some extent.

Now that his mind had been purified by the unicorn's sacred magic and he had returned to his true self, he reflected on his previous actions and realized that they had indeed been somewhat prudent.

It's not that there was too much killing, but in some situations, choosing not to kill might have been more beneficial for him later. In some situations, a gentler approach could have yielded better results.

This was certainly good news for Jerry, because Snape's dark magic skills were top-notch, and it would be a great thing for him to replace Professor Quirrell, who always pretended to be timid.

However, this was extremely painful for Harry.

Originally, it was only Potions class that was targeted by Professor Snape, but now even Defense Against the Dark Arts is being brought up by Snape for no reason, or he'll deduct two points from it.

It wasn't just Harry; for most of the young wizards at Hogwarts, Professor Snape's temporary replacement of the Defense Against the Dark Arts class was not a good thing either.

Because Professor Snape will be setting the questions for the Defense Against the Dark Arts final exam.

Professor Snape's exams are the most rigorous of all the subject exams. Previously, it was just the Potions exam, but now there's also the Defense Against the Dark Arts exam.

It's like a double hell mode!

After defeating Quirrell, Jerry's school life returned to normal. Apart from occasionally going out at night to replenish Norber's food supplies in the Forbidden Forest, he spent most of his time studying and researching magic to improve his strength.

Sometimes he would wander around Hagrid's hut with Harry and the others, but most of the time he went to Hagrid's hut was spent flirting with the group of Thestrals behind Hagrid's hut.

Through his persistent efforts, he has successfully established a good relationship with a young and strong Thestral.

When the time is right, Jerry plans to kidnap it.

In the first week of June, the stressful final exams finally arrived. The weather had lost its previous coolness and instead became somewhat muggy.

Most subjects consist of both written exams and practical tests, with only a few, like the history of magic, having only written exams.

All the quills used in the written exam were distributed by the teachers, and the teachers had already recited anti-cheating spells on the new quills.

Practical exam

The Charms class exam tested whether the young wizards could use the Dancing Charm to make a pineapple tap dance across a table.

The test for the Transformation class was to transform a mouse into a snuffbox—the more exquisite the box, the higher the score.

The Potions class exam was about making a potion of forgetfulness. The better the finished product, the higher the score. Professor Snape would patrol behind the young wizards, and any mistakes made during the process would result in an immediate deduction of points.

During the exam, Jerry noticed that many of the young wizards made mistakes not because they couldn't remember the brewing procedure, but simply because they were so startled by Professor Snape who kept popping up behind them that their hands were shaking.

The Defense Against the Dark Arts exam required students to use a knockback charm to make Professor Snape back; the more steps he took back, the higher their score.

Jerry was the last to take the exam, mainly because he could make Professor Snape take off, but he definitely couldn't do that. So he had to wait until everyone had finished the exam, compare the scores of the other young wizards, and then adjust the intensity of the magic accordingly.

The last exam was on the history of magic, which finished around 4 p.m.

As soon as the exam ended, Hermione, just like with any other subject, immediately went to Jerry to compare answers.

Sure enough, the tendency for high-achieving students to check their answers after exams isn't just a problem in Muggle schools; it's the same in wizarding schools.

"Hermione, there's really no need to worry so much. You've studied so hard; this kind of exam won't be difficult for you at all!"

After checking the answers, it was confirmed once again that Hermione's written test answers were all correct, and Jerry shrugged helplessly.

Hermione is actually very strong, much stronger than other young wizards in every aspect. However, she is always insecure and afraid that she will have problems with the exams and that her scores will not be as good as she hoped.

In fact, she almost always got full marks on her written tests.

"Jerry, Hermione, over here, over here!"

Jerry and Hermione had just stepped onto the lawn outside the castle when they heard two familiar voices coming from under a large tree not far away.

Harry and Ron were completely relaxed after finishing their exams, lying on the lawn under a tree, basking in the sun and chatting.
