Chapter 559 The Weasleys' Great Harvest
Chapter 559 The Weasleys Have a Great Harvest (Second Update)
After the match ended, Jerry and his teammates received the trophy symbolizing victory. Then, they took the opportunity to put on their masks and sneak away before the arrival of countless fans and reporters to meet up with Hermione and the others, and return to the Weasleys' magical tent.
"Jerry, what was the name of your last move? You must have practiced it for a long time, it was so cool!"
As soon as they returned to the tent, Ron and Harry, along with a few other boys, excitedly surrounded Jerry.
At this moment, at least for the next few days after the competition ended, Jerry would no longer be their friend, but an idol they would admire immensely.
Although Jerry had previously said that he was absolutely confident he could catch the Golden Snitch within five minutes of its appearance if he wanted to.
But when they actually saw Jerry use his smooth, incredibly cool moves to take down the Golden Snitch in fifteen seconds during the match, and finally stand in the center of the court, they were still incredibly excited.
"That special move? Oh, right, I've practiced it for a long time. As for the name, I haven't thought of one yet. If you're willing to help, you can help me come up with one. If there are any interviews later, I'll just use the name you suggested."
Jerry paused for a moment, then replied with a smile.
What kind of special skill is that? It was just a normal set of actions that his body naturally performed based on the situation. Just like when you see a step, you will naturally step over it. How can that step-over action be called a special skill?
Therefore, he naturally wouldn't bother to choose a special name for it.
"Really? We'll come and get it?"
Ron, Harry, and the Weasley brothers' eyes lit up immediately.
This could be a legendary move recorded in Quidditch history, and the fact that its name will be born from their mouths is an immense honor.
"The high-difficulty moves that exist in Quidditch matches are: Bokoff's decoy, Lonski's feint, Plenton's backflip, double "8" loop, starfish hanging upside down, double combo, and Parkin's pincers.
However, none of these compare to Jerry's trick. How about we call it Jerry's Manipulation Technique?
Ron spoke first.
Although his ability to learn spells was average, he had been obsessed with Quidditch since childhood and his understanding of Quidditch was expert-level; he knew every famous Quidditch tactic and trick.
"I think it should be called Jerry's Ultimate Move!"
Fred said the name he had chosen.
"It's called Jerry's Finisher, meaning that once this move is used, the match will be over."
Harry wasn't about to be outdone.
Listening to the group arguing about the names of their special moves, Jerry shook his head and walked over to Hermione, who was covering her mouth and laughing so hard her eyes turned into crescent moons.
"Ahem, um...did you like the flowers I gave you?"
"So this flower is yours. Hmm!"
Hermione was initially surprised when she raised the flower she had been holding, but after realizing it was a red rose, she quickly blushed, lowered her head, and whispered a response.
She had been wondering why, out of all the falling petals, only one was a whole rose, and it just so happened to land in her hand.
"Haha, congratulations! This is truly an unexpected ending that will be discussed for decades to come. It's fantastic!"
Just then, Ludo Bagman, the Director of Sports at the Ministry of Magic, who also served as the commentator for the match and the head of Quidditch betting, walked into the tent with a big bag of Galleons and a beaming smile.
When he saw Jerry, he was so excited that he took the initiative to shake hands with him.
His joy stemmed not only from Jerry's leadership of England to victory, bringing honor to the Ministry of Magic, but more importantly, from the huge profits he had made from organizing the betting!
Despite his seemingly glamorous life as a former international Quidditch star and current Director of Sports at the Ministry of Magic.
In reality, he had already gone bankrupt and owed Gringotts goblins a lot of money.
Over the years, he has been addicted to gambling, organizing dozens of gambling-related events, only to lose everything in the end.
This Quidditch World Cup is actually his last gamble. According to his odds and actual betting, if England wins, he can recoup some of his losses, at least enough to pay back most of the money he owes Gringotts.
If Ireland wins, he will be completely bankrupt and will have no choice but to risk using the goblin's fake gold coins to fill the gap in his bets, and then try to escape.
As a result, not only did England win, but the various bets on how long it would take Jerry to catch the Golden Snitch also resulted in unexpected outcomes.
What does an upset mean?
This means that, apart from those in the Weasley's magical tent who bet on the odds, he has beaten everyone else who bet on Jerry catching the Golden Snitch.
Even if he loses all 20,000 Galleons here, and uses the remaining money to pay off all the goblins' debts, he will still have 50,000 to 60,000 Galleons left.
It's an absolute money-maker!
His only regret now is that he didn't get more wizards involved in betting before the match started; otherwise, he would have made even more money.
"It seems our Mr. Bagman has come to exchange for Galleons for us!"
Jerry released Ludo's hand, glanced at the Galleons in his bag, and after confirming that they were all genuine, called everyone else over.
Ludo cooperated by exchanging Galleons according to the note he had been given earlier.
When Ludo finally left the magic tent, everyone held their Galleons and burst into laughter.
The happiest of all were the Weasleys.
The last time the Weasleys received the most money was when Arthur won the grand prize of 700 Galleons. That time, the whole family went on a trip to Egypt and bought Ron a new wand.
This time, Arthur alone received 5,300 Galleons, not including those from Bill, Charlie, and the Weasley brothers.
Although five thousand Galleons is far less than what wealthy wizarding families like the Malfoys possess, it is still a huge sum for the perpetually impoverished Weasley family.
A huge sum of money that would mean Ron and Ginny wouldn't need to buy secondhand items for the next few years.
And all of this is thanks to getting them to buy the less popular Jerry in advance.
"Looks like tomorrow's Diagon Alley shopping trip will be very enjoyable!"
Jerry saw everyone looking at him with gratitude and smiled, cracking a little joke.
Everyone burst into laughter again upon hearing this.
"Don't tell your mother about your gambling."
After laughing, Arthur suddenly remembered something and began to speak to the Weasley brothers.
Before withdrawing the money, he specifically went back to talk to Molly about the betting, and got her consent, but he only told her about himself and didn't dare to mention anyone else.
"Don't worry, Dad," Fred said happily. "We have many grand plans for this money. We don't want it to be confiscated."
Arthur hesitated for a moment, probably wanting to ask what their grand plan was, but then he thought it best not to ask.
