Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 70 Snape's Promise
Chapter 70 Snape's Promise
Jerry didn't interfere much in the feud between Malfoy and Harry.
His goal was to focus on learning magic and strive to become stronger. Improving his standing among the students was simply a means to more effectively learn even more magic.
Instead of acting as a peacemaker and mediating disputes between a few kids, that would be a waste of time and energy!
The flight lesson ended at six o'clock.
Jerry and the little wizards arrived at the Great Hall and enjoyed a sumptuous dinner that had already been laid out on the table.
To be honest, the food at Hogwarts is generally quite good.
Although it wasn't as extravagant as the opening banquet, there were still plenty of meat dishes at each meal, with beef and mutton being served almost every time.
After dinner, Jerry was preparing to return to his dorm for a nap to recover from the mental exhaustion he had caused by using stimulants earlier in the day.
Professor Snape, dressed in a black wizard's robe and with an expressionless face, suddenly blocked his way.
"Come with me!"
After leaving just one sentence, Professor Snape turned and walked toward his office.
Although Jerry was completely confused, he obediently followed along.
The Head of the Slytherin House is also located on the basement level, on the same floor as the Potions classroom and the Slytherin common room.
The office's decor perfectly reflected Snape's personal image.
Apart from a desk, the entire office was filled with various bottles and jars of plant and animal specimens and precious potion-making materials.
At first glance, it looked like I had entered a storage room for materials used in making magic potions.
This also shows that Snape was truly wealthy. Most of these precious potion-making ingredients were probably his private property.
"Ms. Hodge just told me about your performance in class. I heard you dove down from a height of about twenty feet and caught that idiot from the Longbottom family?"
Snape sat behind his desk, staring sharply at Jerry.
"Yes, I didn't expect that myself!"
When Jerry heard that it was about the flying broom class, he immediately breathed a sigh of relief.
He knew that Snape outwardly disliked Gryffindor, but in reality he cared for every young wizard in the school and wouldn't cause him trouble just because he saved a Gryffindor wizard.
Moreover, he earned ten points for Slytherin because of this.
"This is your first time riding a flying broomstick!"
Snape continued to ask.
Jerry nodded shamelessly.
"Very good. Ms. Hodge told me that you are absolutely the most suitable student she has ever seen to be the Seeker, so I want you to join the Slytherin Quidditch team directly as the Seeker!"
Snape didn't beat around the bush; he gave the order directly.
"It seems like this year's students can't join Quidditch!"
Jerry hesitated for a moment.
He wasn't really interested in joining Quidditch because he felt he'd rather spend that time researching magic and improving his skills; Quidditch, no matter how well he practiced, was just a form of entertainment.
Just like basketball, football, and badminton, no matter how well you practice, you still can't beat someone who practices Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) when it comes to fighting.
Furthermore, he didn't remember that Voldemort had ever been a Quidditch player.
"Don't worry about that, I'll talk to Dumbledore!"
Snape waved his hand.
"I heard that our Slytherin team has always been ahead of the Gryffindor team. We're already that strong, there's no need to add a freshman like me to the team!"
And I want more time to learn magic!
Jerry briefly revealed his thoughts.
Snape nodded, appreciating Jerry's studious spirit, but he did not abandon his previous plan.
"I've never taken Gryffindor seriously. They've never beaten us in the last few years, but that doesn't mean we Slytherin can come in first every year."
Last year, Hufflepuff was first, Slytherin second, Gryffindor third, and Ravenclaw fourth.
"I want to beat not only Gryffindor, but also Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff, which is why I'm appointing you as the new Seeker."
It turns out that although Slytherin has been dominating Gryffindor for the past few years, they haven't been able to win the Quidditch Cup every time. Hufflepuff's team is also very strong, especially their Seeker, Cedric Diggory.
Seeing that Jerry was still hesitating, Snape continued to press the issue:
"A Nimbus 2000! If you're willing to be Slytherin's Seeker, I'll give you the latest Nimbus 2000!"
"make a deal!"
Nimbus 2000 is the latest flying broomstick. Its top speed is at least twice that of the Three-Star Sweeper, and its performance in all aspects, such as steering and braking, far surpasses that of the Three-Star Sweeper.
Jerry knew very well that, since he hadn't yet mastered Apparition, a better flying broom might give him a better chance of survival in dangerous battles like the last one.
So when he heard Snape say he would give him a Nimbus 2000 for free, he readily agreed.
Snape: "."
As expected of an excellent Slytherin, they agreed very quickly upon hearing there was a benefit involved.
"Follow me!"
Seeing that Jerry had agreed, Snape got up and led him to Marcus Flint, the captain of the Slytherin team.
Marcus Flint looks very strong and is said to have troll blood in him. He is a fifth-year student and has just become the captain of the Slytherin team this year.
When he heard Snape say that Jerry, a freshman, was going to be the most important Seeker, his brows immediately furrowed.
"Dean, if we appoint him as the Seeker, what about Terence Higgs?"
Terence Higgs was the Seeker for the Slytherin team.
"You lost to Hedgehog last year, which shows he's not a suitable Seeker. Let him be a backup!"
Snape looked down, squinted, and gave Marcus a disapproving look.
Marcus's heart skipped a beat, realizing that his questioning had displeased the dean, and he quickly replied:
"Alright, then let's wait until Saturday and have Jerry come to the Quidditch practice field. I'll teach him some of the rules of Quidditch!"
Snape nodded in satisfaction upon hearing this and led Jerry back to his office.
Snape believed Jerry not only because of Lady Hodge's words, but also because he had witnessed Jerry saving Neville.
"The Nimbus 2000 will be delivered in a few days; you can go back now!"
Back in his office, Snape didn't say much before letting Jerry leave.
However, just as Jerry was about to leave the office, Snape's emotionless voice rang out behind him again:
"If you perform well in Quidditch training, I'll allow you to come here at night to ask me about magic!"
