Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 72 The Golden Thief, Here You Go!
Chapter 72 The Golden Thief, Here You Go!
Saturday morning, in the main auditorium on the first floor.
"Hermione, go to the library after you finish eating. Don't wait for me, I have something to do, I'll be there in about half an hour!"
After finishing breakfast, Jerry gave Hermione a heads-up as he passed the Gryffindor table.
Last Saturday, he had arranged to go to the library with Hermione this morning to read books, but due to an unexpected incident on Thursday, he had to go to the Quidditch pitch this morning to resolve the issue of participating in Quidditch training in the future.
However, if the plan goes smoothly, he shouldn't need to waste too much time there.
The Quidditch pitch at Hogwarts is located between the castle and the Forbidden Forest. It is the size of several football fields, and the stands on all four sides can comfortably accommodate thousands of people.
At each end of the course are three gold poles, each topped with a ring, and each pole is over ten meters tall.
Today, the Slytherin team specifically requested the Quidditch pitch, so currently only the Slytherin wizards are on the pitch for their daily training.
The tall and imposing captain, Marcus, along with two other Slater wizards, were practicing passing the ball, which was about thirty centimeters in diameter and bright red.
Every now and then they would throw the ball toward the goalkeeper standing at the circle.
On the other side, two Slater wizards, riding flying broomsticks and wielding short clubs, were constantly knocking away two black iron balls that were attacking them. The black iron balls were a size smaller than the red leather balls they had just encountered.
Below him was a Slater wizard who hadn't participated in training; he sat in the stands, looking rather unhappy.
"Alright, let's pause for a moment and gather here!"
At that moment, captain Marcus, who was passing the ball, also saw Jerry and quickly waved and shouted to his teammates.
A moment later, Marcus introduced his six teammates:
"This is Jerry Carmen, a freshman and our new Seeker. Let's welcome him!"
However, after Marcus finished speaking, none of the other six team members raised their hands to applaud; instead, they all looked disdainful.
In their eyes, it was a joke that a freshman who had never ridden a flying broom before had become the most important chaser on their team.
Even if it was a decision made by their terrifying headmaster Snape, it couldn't make them feel trusted.
"You think you can take my place as the Seeker? I think the Dean is out of his mind!"
At this moment, the Slytherin wizard who had been sitting sullenly in the stands spoke to Jerry with a mocking expression.
"I also think the Dean went a bit too far this time. Although Terence isn't the top Seeker, he's earned a lot of honor for Slytherin. We can't let this freshman replace him just because of last year's mistake!"
"Another Slater wizard chimed in."
"And Terence is graduating next year; this is his last Quidditch match!"
"Ha, you're just talking without understanding the situation. I know this is extremely inappropriate, but if you're so capable, go and talk to the dean yourselves! See if he doesn't send your souls to hell with a single dark spell!"
Marcus rolled his eyes inwardly as he listened to his teammates' complaints.
Despite his tall stature and fierce appearance, he is still quite timid when facing Snape.
It wasn't that he was really afraid Snape would punish him with dark magic; in fact, that had never happened before. Snape never used dark magic to punish students; it was just his psychological effect.
Just like when you were eleven or twelve years old, you encountered a teacher who terrified you. Even when you grow up, you will still have some psychological shadow when you think back on that teacher.
That's Snape for you. He always has a gloomy face and exudes a dark and terrifying aura. He's especially strict in Potions class and never holds back when scolding young wizards.
It's a nightmare for every freshman.
So even when these young wizards reached sixth or seventh grade and were already adults, they still trembled in fear when facing Snape.
This is a legacy issue from history.
"Alright, since this is the dean's decision, it can't be changed. Now, our most important task is to dedicate more time to training and make sure Jerry is a slightly more competent Seeker before the first Quidditch match next month!"
Marcus knew that complaining was useless; the only way to win future matches was to train harder.
"I'm sorry, Senior Marcus, I'm usually quite busy and might not be able to participate in your training!"
Just as Marcus was trying to reassure his teammates, Jerry smiled and raised his hand.
"What did you say?"
The tall and imposing Marcus stood menacingly in front of Jerry, his face full of anger.
Good grief, I just said we needed to intensify our training, and you come up with the excuse that you don't have time to train. You're a complete newbie who doesn't know anything, where does your confidence come from?
"I told them I'm usually quite busy and might not have time to come and train with you!"
Jerry smiled and repeated it again.
Immediately afterwards, he was met with a fierce and relentless denunciation from seven former Slytherin members.
"Stop, stop, stop, seniors, let me explain!"
Jerry slid backward, dodging the barrage of spittle from the seven upperclassmen, and then slowly said:
"How about this? I know the rules of Quidditch very well, and the Seeker's job is to catch the Golden Snitch, no matter what."
Now, I'll make a bet with you all: if I can catch the Golden Snitch three times in a row within five minutes, then I don't have to come to training.
If that doesn't work, I'll go talk to Dean Snape myself and explain that I'm leaving the team!
Upon hearing Jerry's words, all seven Slytherin members, including Marcus, were stunned.
Catching the golden thief within five minutes three times in a row? Are you kidding me?
Even the Seeker, the best player in the International Quidditch tournament, couldn't catch the Golden Snitch within the first five minutes.
Unless you're extremely lucky, there's only a tiny chance of that happening.
"So, how about it, wanna bet?"
Jerry smiled again.
All seven replied in unison:
"bet!"
In their view, this might be because Jerry knew he couldn't handle the Seeker role, so he found an excuse to back down.
five minutes later,
Jerry, holding his training broomstick, gave Marcus an OK sign in the center of the Quidditch pitch.
Marcus opened the box, took out the Golden Snitch used for training, and let go of it.
The golden snitch, about the size of a walnut, immediately spread its pair of small silver wings and then quickly fled throughout the Quidditch pitch.
Jerry also kicked off the attack, activating the "enhance your mind" function, and charged towards the golden thief.
"Give it to me!"
With a few sharp turns, Jerry in Superman mode grabbed the Golden Snitch.
