Marvel's Hogwarts Wizard
Chapter 87 The Great Diagon Alley Shopping Spree
Chapter 87 The Great Diagon Alley Shopping Spree (Sixth Update)
Fifteen minutes later,
Just as Jerry pushed Hermione's enormous suitcase to the corner of the compartment, the Hogwarts Express slowly started moving.
Because some wizards, especially older ones, chose to stay at school to prepare for their exams, the number of young wizards on the Hogwarts Express was far less than when they first arrived.
Jerry and Hermione were the only two people in their private room.
After putting down their suitcases, the two of them almost simultaneously took out a magic book from their handbags.
Then, they sat together and started reading and talking.
The mountains and forests outside the train window gradually transformed into snow-covered fields and Muggle villages as the train moved forward.
Around noon, the train finally arrived at King's Cross Station in London.
Passing through Platform Nine and Three-Quarters, through a passage opened by spatial magic, the young wizards, having changed back into Muggle clothes, disappeared into the crowd, led by their parents.
At the entrance to King's Cross Station, the Grangers, having received a prior notification from Hermione via the school owl, had already arrived early in their car to wait.
"Jerry, remember to call me!"
The car started, and Hermione leaned out of the window, waving and shouting at Jerry who was standing there.
"Okay, I will!"
As the car disappeared down the street, Jerry pulled a bottle from his pocket and put the few strands of Hermione's hair that he had secretly taken on the train into it.
"Once I've made the compound decoction, I reckon no one will doubt me anymore!"
Dragging his suitcase, which wasn't packed with much stuff, Jerry headed straight for the subway entrance.
He definitely won't go back to the orphanage. What would he do there? They're already monitoring him. He wouldn't be able to do anything there; it would just be a waste of time.
Now, after spending more than three months in the small world and frequently using the "enhance your mind" function, he doesn't have many little red stars left.
Therefore, he plans to spend his two-week Christmas holiday in Diagon Alley.
First, he needed to make purchases in Diagon Alley. Although the Hogwarts library had a large number of books, they were mostly for young wizards. Many dangerous or adult wizarding spellbooks were placed in the forbidden section.
But the bookstores in Diagon Alley don't have these restrictions; as long as you have Galleons, they can't possibly restrict you from buying books.
Secondly, given that he currently has traces of magic on his body that he has no ability to remove, Diagon Alley is the only place where he can freely use magic during his vacation.
Jerry had done a lot of research and inquiries about tracking information before his vacation.
According to some upperclassmen Slater, the Ministry of Magic can't actually detect whether you've used magic accurately; it can only detect whether there's magic in your vicinity.
If you live in an area populated by wizards, then even if magic is used, the Ministry of Magic will be unable to make a judgment.
Just like at home, they can actually use magic, because their parents are wizards. As long as their parents don't say anything, the Ministry of Magic assumes that the little wizard's parents are using magic.
Therefore, the concept of "threads" has a far greater restrictive effect on Muggle-born wizards than on wizarding families.
Because young wizards from Muggle families are usually not living near other wizards, they will be immediately monitored by the Ministry of Magic as soon as they cast a spell.
This is why, when Dobby performed magic at Harry's aunt's house, the Ministry of Magic considered it a violation by Harry.
Harry was the only wizard in the entire neighborhood, so the Ministry of Magic naturally concluded that Harry had cast a spell.
After taking the subway to Charing Cross, Jerry quickly found the Leaky Cauldron, the same bar Professor McGonagall had taken him to before.
After paying fourteen Galleons, he was led by his boss, Tom, to a uniquely styled old room on the second floor.
He will then spend the next two weeks in this room.
After putting his luggage away, Jerry didn't head straight to Diagon Alley. Instead, he went downstairs and ordered a hearty lunch.
After finishing lunch, he finally began to properly explore Diagon Alley.
Last time, with Professor McGonagall around, he didn't get to visit many places. This time, he's definitely going to explore every shop except Knockturn Alley.
Given the high level of danger involved in Flip-Over Alley, he doesn't plan to take the risk for the time being.
"Laceworms, leeches, sapwort, two-eared grass, powdered two-horned beast horn, and fragments of African tree snake skin."
Jerry, recalling the compound potion recipe from the movie "Powerful Potion," headed to the herbalist shop in Diagon Alley.
The decoction takes about a month to prepare, and to prevent any accidents, Jerry plans to make several extra doses.
Compound potions are a very complex and uncommon type of potion, using a wide variety of herbs that are not cheap, so few people know about them or use them.
Even though Jerry had Professor Quirrell's herb garden in his box, which saved him a lot of herbs, he still spent over two hundred Galleons when he bought all the remaining materials.
Jerry estimated that all the ingredients for one dose of the compound decoction would cost at least 100 Galleons if bought directly.
That's almost equivalent to a month's salary for an average official in the Ministry of Magic.
Barring exceptional circumstances, no wizard would spend a month's salary to buy these expensive herbs and concoct a potion that could only maintain the transformation for a few hours.
Therefore, in the wizarding world, polysaccharide is considered a relatively rare type of potion.
After buying the potion, he headed straight for Flourish and Blotts, the largest bookstore in Diagon Alley.
"Sir, what book would you like to buy?"
As soon as Jerry entered, a shop assistant rushed over enthusiastically.
Jerry didn't waste any words and directly took out a bag of Galleons that he had prepared beforehand and placed it on the table:
"I need the following books: *Standard Spells, Level 2*, *Standard Spells, Level 3*, *Standard Spells, Level 4*, *Standard Spells, Level 5*, *Standard Spells, Level 6*, *Standard Spells, Level 7*, *Intermediate Transfiguration Guide*, and *Advanced Transfiguration Guide*."
In one breath, Jerry recited all the textbooks he knew that were related to magic, spells, and potions from grades one to seven.
Now that we have the money, why bother with such a step-by-step approach? Why not buy everything at once and study it slowly when we get back?
Although self-study is certainly not as effective as attending classes, he at least has some foundation now, and with the added benefit of "refreshing and invigorating" function, it can still have some effect.
Like some high-level spells, even if the power of the spell doesn't reach the expected level, as long as it's successfully used, it can sometimes save lives.
Moreover, it's not just textbooks; he plans to buy any other books that aren't available in the library and put them in his villa so he can read them slowly when he returns to the main world.
Knowledge is power, especially in the wizarding world.
These spellbooks are the real treasure, but unfortunately, he probably doesn't have enough Galleons.
The initial subscription is estimated to exceed 1,000, so I'll add an extra chapter first.
