Chapter 34 Hunter Project

As Fugaku Uchiha slowly walked out of the press conference hall, he was shocked by the scene before him as soon as he stepped out the door.

A large crowd had gathered outside the venue, filling the entire square to capacity.

Cheers of "Hero!" and "Savior!" erupted from the crowd from time to time, almost setting the air on fire.

Faced with this scene, Fugaku Uchiha was momentarily stunned. He had never experienced such a warm welcome in Konoha.

On the contrary, whenever he appeared on the street, the villagers always kept their distance, fearing to provoke the head of the Uchiha clan. Over time, he also became accustomed to being alone and indifferent to the attitudes of others.

Even among his colleagues and subordinates, Fugaku maintained a stern and authoritative demeanor. People felt more awe than closeness towards him.

"How are you feeling?" A familiar voice came from behind.

Fugaku turned around and saw General Stark appear behind him at some point: "Controlling public opinion is equivalent to controlling everything. Most people are ignorant. As long as we skillfully guide them, we can make them believe anything we want them to believe."

As Fugaku listened to Stark's words, his gaze gradually deepened. "Public opinion?"

If he could guide public opinion within Konoha and cultivate a positive image for the Uchiha clan, could he reverse the negative perception the villagers held of his clan?

"Let's go." Stark's voice interrupted Fugaku's thoughts. "There's still a lot to do."

Fugaku snapped out of his daze, caught up with General Stark, and got into a black taxi.

They drove through a series of blockades and roadblocks before finally entering the base again.

Unlike before, this time the elevator did not continue to fall deeper underground, but came to a steady stop on a certain floor.

Soon, the two walked through the corridor and entered a brightly lit room.

This is a place that resembles a conference room. A huge long table is placed in the center of the room, and a huge screen is embedded in the wall directly opposite the table.

"Please sit down."

Stark strode to the screen and pressed the switch. In an instant, a colossal figure appeared on the screen, almost filling the entire frame.

The monster walked through the streets of San Francisco, destroying towering skyscrapers like building blocks.

"This is the original Kaiju," Stark said, pointing to the behemoth on the screen. "It caused a magnitude 7 earthquake when it first appeared in San Francisco. All conventional weapons were unable to harm it. In the end, we had to use three tactical nuclear missiles to barely destroy it."

As soon as he finished speaking, a blinding white light suddenly flashed on the screen. A deafening explosion resounded throughout the room, and three enormous mushroom clouds rose from the ground, slowly ascending above the ruins like three colossal pillars reaching the heavens.

Fugaku Uchiha was shocked by the power of the explosion before him.

He had read about nuclear weapons in books, but witnessing such terrifying destructive power firsthand still made his heart pound.

"This is just a tactical nuclear weapon," Fugaku thought to himself. "If it were a strategic nuclear weapon with a much larger yield, its power would probably be enough to destroy an entire small ninja village."

"While the nuclear bomb destroyed the monster, it also brought severe consequences," Stark said, pointing to the screen. "The monster's corpse contaminated the land and sea. The entire city became a dead zone, and tens of thousands of people were displaced."

"That was just a Level 1 monster." He turned around, looking directly into Fugaku Uchiha's eyes. "We urgently need a new type of weapon that can effectively eliminate monsters without damaging their hides or spreading radioactive contamination."

As he spoke, Stark reached out and pressed an inconspicuous button on the wall. The next second, a deep rumble suddenly sounded, and the entire wall slowly moved to both sides, gradually revealing the scene behind it.

"This is..." Fugaku Uchiha's pupils contracted, and he subconsciously held his breath. A massive base appeared before him, filling his entire field of vision.

Countless steel frames and pipelines crisscrossed, resembling a giant metal spider web. At the center of this web stood four enormous mechs, like four towering giants.

They are hundreds of meters tall, and each mech has a different design, but without exception they all exude a cold and austere aura.

"This is the Hunter Project!"

General Stark's gaze slowly swept over the four enormous machines before him, a proud smile playing on his lips.

"Crimson Storm, Cherno Alpha, Eureka Raider, Dangerous Wanderer," he read out the names one by one, "these are the four remaining warriors of our 'Hunter' program."

He turned to Fugaku Uchiha, his tone becoming even more serious: "Our plan is for Eureka Raiders to carry a strategic nuclear bomb deep into the wormhole and detonate it to destroy it. This is the only way for us to cut off the source of the monsters and completely eliminate the threat."

Stark stared intently into Fugaku's eyes, his gaze sharp and focused. "And your joining us undoubtedly adds a significant boost to our plans."

Fugaku Uchiha nodded silently. "This is probably the final main mission." He thought to himself, "As long as I successfully destroy the wormhole and cut off the source of the monsters, my mission will be complete. Then, I can return to Konoha, return to my original world."

Just as Stark and Fugaku were talking, a thin, middle-aged man with a cane hurried over.

Stark quickly introduced to Fugaku, "This is Dr. Herman, our foremost monster expert. Almost all the theories about monster classification, attack frequency and numbers originate from his research, and this attack plan was also proposed by him."

Before Fugaku could respond, Dr. Hermann anxiously cried out, "General, something has happened!"

Stark frowned upon hearing this: "What's going on?"

"It's Newton," Herman said rapidly, "He... he actually managed to communicate with the monster without permission!"

"What?!" Stark's face instantly darkened. He whirled around and strode outside: "Take me to see this!"

Hermann quickly followed. Seeing this, Fugaku also hurried after him.

Along the way, Fugaku Uchiha asked, "Synesthesia? What's that?" He was very curious about this unfamiliar term.

Stark explained without turning his head: "Synergy is an essential skill for operating a mech. A mech is huge and has a complex structure, and it cannot be fully controlled by one person's consciousness alone."

He continued, "Therefore, each mech requires two pilots to operate simultaneously. Synesthesia is a neural connection technology that completely merges and synchronizes the consciousness of two people."

Soon, the three arrived at a closed laboratory. Stark pushed open the door, his gaze sweeping around the room before settling on a figure huddled in front of a piece of equipment.

"Newton!"
