I became Hokage in Tokyo
Chapter 63-064: The Democracy of Monsters
Chapter 63-064: The Democracy of Monsters
"You think you can wage war against humanity?"
Teacher Orochi's gaze swept over the student's file on the tablet: Number 2, born in the 28th year of Heisei. He failed the three monthly exams from January to March, failing the academic subjects three times, the general knowledge of human society twice, and the firearms identification three times.
He's a complete academic failure among monsters.
"Humans are not as powerful as you say. I've seen human wars on TV, and it's just indiscriminate hacking and slashing with knives and guns. Humans are just inferior creatures that monsters can kill with a single bite. We monsters should go up to the ground and rule humans openly and honestly!" the horned boar monster roared hoarsely.
"Orochi, you're just using humans to intimidate us and force us monsters to obey your commands!"
Why do such idiots keep popping up among the monsters?
Teacher Orochi shook his head and asked the puppet monster, "What kind of videos are being shown in human general education classes these days?"
"This week they're showing 'Seven Samurai,' and last month they aired the 50-episode NHK drama 'Sanada Maru.'"
"Show less of these historical dramas and sword-fighting films; some monsters will actually believe them. From now on, replace them all with military and war documentaries."
Orochi-sensei said with some dissatisfaction, turning around to look at the horned boar monster with a sinister gaze.
Such arrogant and self-important troublemakers, who lack the ability to assess the situation, are unqualified as monsters of the 21st century and should be punished as soon as possible.
With a flick of his sleeve, the teacher unleashed a large snake that lashed out and coiled around the horned boar monster.
"laugh--"
Two strings of white steam billowed from the nostrils of the horned boar monster, and its entire body turned bright red like a boiling stove, causing the temperature in the classroom to rise instantly.
The large snake coiled around it could not withstand the high temperature and immediately loosened its grip.
"Orochi, I can't take it anymore! I'm going to kill you!"
The horned boar monster broke free of its restraints and immediately displayed an agility and speed that was different from its burly body. It charged forward, blocked the body of the serpent teacher, overturned the podium, and even smashed through the door as if it were made of paper. Its head hit the wall of the corridor, making a half-meter-deep hole.
However, what was pinned against the wall was not Orochi, but only a white coat.
Orochi-sensei had somehow appeared behind the horned boar monster, staring at it with hostile eyes.
"High temperatures and superhuman strength, is this the sorcery you've awakened? It seems quite impressive. Is this your trump card in rebelling against education?"
The horned boar monster felt its hair stand on end under that extremely intimidating gaze. It turned its head and snarled at the other monsters in the classroom:
"Are you all going to stay holed up in this dark, damp underground, learning this utter nonsense? Stand up and join me!"
"Alright, I'll take this opportunity to hear your opinions on my educational policies."
Orochi-sensei stuck out his tongue and licked his eyes, then said in a steady voice:
"It's the 21st century now. Even monsters have to have a say in democracy. Let you students vote for yourselves: should you stay underground and continue studying, or go and wage war against humans?"
Seeing that Orochi-sensei's tone didn't indicate anger, the dozen or so demons looked at each other for a long time before finally one of them stepped forward.
"Teacher, I... I don't want to disobey you, but I really don't understand the point of us yokai learning human writing?"
"Yes, I can't stand being stuck underground all day, unable to enjoy delicious human flesh!"
"I don't want to fight humans, but I don't want to study either. I want to go back to the mountains."
One monster after another stepped forward, stood together, and began to express their dissatisfaction with the teacher in a cacophony of voices.
Orochi remained silent, continuing to lick his eyes with his forked tongue.
Seeing Orochi's action, the puppet monster was so frightened that the leaves on its body turned yellow. This was a small action that the teacher would take when he was in a fit of rage.
Stop it, stop it.
"And what about the monsters? Do they agree with what Number 2 said?"
Orochi-sensei's cold, vertical pupils swept over the monsters in the classroom. Many of the monsters who had failed the previous exams had run off to the horned monster's side.
"Look, most of the monsters are on my side. The minority obeys the majority. Please let us leave."
Looking at the group of monsters gathered around him, the horned boar monster felt even more confident and stopped shouting for battle.
"Teacher, we don't want to break ties with you. We won't leak information about the organization or the base to the Metropolitan Police Department."
"You think you can just go out there and lord it over humanity? What era do you think this is?! This isn't the Heian or Sengoku period, it's the Reiwa era of the 21st century!"
Orochi-sensei's deep voice was filled with barely suppressed anger.
Just like how there are many lazy students in human schools who don't like to study and yearn for the bright lights and extravagant lifestyle outside the school gates, but when they enter society, they will only be brutally beaten and left battered and bruised.
If these monsters were to leave its protection and venture into the cosmopolitan city of Tokyo, someone would immediately call the police, prompting a manhunt by the Metropolitan Police Department. One by one, they would become human test subjects!
The exposure of the monster's existence in modern society would also hinder its dreams.
"The reason I'm trying to gather the wild yokai of Tokyo, hiding in the shadows, is because the violence possessed by humans far surpasses that of the newly born yokai. To engage in direct combat with humans now would be like throwing an egg against a rock—a certain defeat!"
Like the oppressive atmosphere before a tsunami, it began to spread in the classroom, and Orochi-sensei suddenly unleashed an extremely terrifying aura!
"However, time is on our side! The number of yokai born each year is greater than the previous year, and the yokai's demonic energy and awakened demonic arts will also increase over time. Even a small yokai like you might become a great yokai like me in ten years!"
The horned boar demon and the group of lesser demons around it were intimidated by the almost tangible killing intent and demonic aura emanating from their teacher.
Steam billowed from its body, the horned boar monster lowered its head, its horns pointing at the teacher, ready to launch a preemptive attack.
But then it found itself paralyzed. Looking down, it saw that black, snake-like runes had appeared on its body, binding it and rendering it unable to move.
With a thud, the massive body fell straight to the ground.
"In other words, if we just endure for another ten or fifteen years, the balance of power will shift, and this island nation will become the monster's possession. As for the incompetent bureaucrats in the Metropolitan Police Department trying to cover up the existence of the monster and pretend nothing happened, they have actually helped us a lot in a way. I don't want the monster to be exposed to the public eye and become a target of public criticism."
The little monsters who had followed the horned boar monster in their commotion also collapsed to the ground, their bodies stiff and covered in black runes.
"Therefore, forbearance is necessary now! Learning the common sense of human society is also necessary! I will not forgive any monster who disobeys my plans, no matter who it is!"
Orochi-sensei stared coldly at the monsters lying on the ground.
"Finally, let me give you a lesson on firearms identification!"
Orochi opened his mouth wide, the corners of his mouth splitting all the way to behind his ears, as if his entire skull had been opened, and a huge bulge in his abdomen burst out of his throat.
It's a Gatling gun barrel!
"Da da da!"
The metal storm created by the bullets instantly shredded the horned boar monster and the other monsters into pieces.
