Chapter 23 Interlude

The next day, during class, a teacher from the Martial Soul Department came to Class One. This man was over fifty years old, with a dark face and no beard, tall and dignified. He was none other than Du Weilun, the Dean of Students of the Martial Soul Department of the Outer Academy.

"Teacher Zhou, excuse me, I need to speak with Huo Yuhao from your class about something. Could you please have him come to the administration office with me?"

When Zhou Yi saw that Du Weilun had come to find someone in person, she nodded and let Huo Yuhao follow Du Weilun out.

After they walked away, Zhou Yi said, "This class has been changed to a self-study session. The teacher has some things to take care of. Wang Dong, please manage it for a while."

Without waiting for their reaction, Zhou Yi left the classroom and headed straight for the Soul Guidance Department's teaching area.

Du Weiren led Huo Yuhao to the disciplinary office, where Huo Yuhao saw two familiar figures.

It was Yan Shaozhe and Ma Xiaotao, whom they had encountered before.

When Ma Xiaotao saw this handsome twelve-year-old blue-haired boy, for some reason, her usually carefree heart started pounding nervously, and her pink eyes welled up with tears.

What happened? Why am I...?

Huo Yuhao's keen mental power sensed the change in Ma Xiaotao's expression when he entered, indicating that the power of his beliefs he had invested earlier had not been in vain.

The shrewd and experienced Yan Shaozhe was taken aback by Ma Xiaotao's current behavior. Having been through many romantic encounters, he naturally knew that his disciple had probably fallen in love with Huo Yuhao at first sight.

Could it be because of the effect of purifying the evil fire before? Otherwise, how could twenty-year-old Ma Xiaotao fall in love at first sight with a boy who looks only fourteen or fifteen years old?

"Dean Yan, senior, is there anything I can help you with?" Huo Yuhao maintained his usual indifferent attitude.

If anyone else had given him that attitude normally, Yan Shaozhe would have already found a way to get back at them.

But Huo Yuhao is different. In Yan Shaozhe's eyes, such a genius should have some special privileges.

What do you mean by not giving face? You are clearly unique and independent.

"I'm sorry, Yuhao, I apologize for what happened yesterday," Yan Shaozhe said with a smile, then bowed slightly to Huo Yuhao.

Seeing this, Du Weiren wisely walked out, closed the door, and pretended he didn't know anything.

Huo Yuhao didn't hesitate and directly avoided Yan Shaozhe's bow.

He spoke coldly, "I am not qualified to accept Dean Yan's apology. I just want to know how you intend to handle this matter. Where is the inner court student involved?"

"I've heard that upperclassmen are not allowed to provoke or attack lowerclassmen; if caught, they will be expelled immediately. Does Dean Yan have any explanation for this?"

Yan Shaozhe's smile froze slightly. He had never met anyone like Huo Yuhao who showed him no respect whatsoever.

However, Shrek Academy was indeed in the wrong, and it concerned his own disciple, Ma Xiaotao, who had the highest cultivation talent in Shrek Academy in the past hundred years. Even he couldn't just turn against her like that.

Moreover, given Huo Yuhao's talent and his orphan background, if we could win him over, it would be a great help to Shrek Academy in the future.

"I'm sorry, junior. I had a problem with my cultivation before, which is why..." Ma Xiaotao blurted out, "As long as you don't pursue this matter and are willing to forgive me, I'm willing to compensate you for whatever conditions you set."

Just then, a hushed discussion seemed to come from outside the disciplinary office, and then it disappeared.

Huo Yuhao lowered his head and thought for a moment, then shook his head: "Since Dean Yan has sent my senior to apologize, let's leave it at that. I won't bother you anymore. Can I go back now?"

Because these events happened so close together, Huo Yuhao realized that his value to the Soul Guidance Department didn't seem to have reached the point where they could compete with Yan Shaozhe.

If we want to achieve our goals, we can't keep entangled with Yan Shaozhe. We should take a break and lay some groundwork with the Soul Guidance Department.

Ma Xiaotao wanted to say something more, but Yan Shaozhe stopped her. Yan Shaozhe nodded: "That's fine then. Yuhao, you can go back first. You can also think carefully about what I told you before. I won't lie to you."

Upon hearing this, Huo Yuhao turned and left the teaching office. After closing the door, he saw Du Weilun and Fan Yu outside the door, and then turned and left.

Back in the classroom, everyone was still in class, and Zhou Yi was nowhere to be seen. When Huo Yuhao returned to his seat, Wang Dong'er came up to him and whispered in his ear, "Yuhao, what did Director Du call you over for?"

A soft breath brushed against Huo Yuhao's ear, and Huo Yuhao said without a ripple in his voice, "What else could it be? It's about yesterday's matter, but it's already been resolved." He flipped through the thin notebook in his hand, occasionally scribbling something down.

Wang Dong'er frowned slightly, feeling a bit angry again as she thought about Yan Shaozhe and the others' attitudes earlier.

Huo Yuhao didn't say anything more to her.

Shortly after, the bell rang, and Huo Yuhao left his seat, casually saying to Wang Dong'er, "Go have lunch first, don't wait for me."

Huo Yuhao arrived at the freshman faculty office and saw Zhou Yi sitting in her seat with Fan Yu beside her. The two of them were talking about something.

"Hello, Teacher Zhou. Hello, Teacher Fanyu."

Zhou Yi nodded to him.

"Teacher Zhou, I originally wanted to ask you to take me to Teacher Fan Yu. I want to learn more about soul tools."

"But since Ms. Fan Yu is already here, I'll just say it directly."

"I'd like to try to learn about the creation of soul tools, is that alright?"

Fan Yu looked at Zhou Yi and saw her nod at him. Then he said, "Okay, this afternoon you can come with me to the Soul Guidance Department's teaching area. You haven't eaten yet, have you? Let me take you to eat first."

Fan Yu led Huo Yuhao to the Soul Guidance Department's teaching building. In his office, a middle-aged man dressed as a chef bowed to Fan Yu upon his arrival, put down the food box he was carrying, and left.

Huo Yuhao could see that the dishes here were not in the same league as the best dishes at the outer courtyard canteen. Even the worst dishes were made by soul beasts that were at least a hundred years old.

Fan Yu pushed the dishes in front of Huo Yuhao and said, "Yuhao, you eat first. I have some things to take care of."

Huo Yuhao nodded and, without standing on ceremony, began to eat.

Fan Yu nodded and left the office.

After Huo Yuhao had finished eating, Fan Yu led a woman who was about 1.7 meters tall, in her fifties, with fair skin, her black hair neatly tied up, and wearing a white outfit with gold trim. She looked capable and efficient.

"Dean Xian, this is Huo Yuhao, whom I told you about before. This is Dean Xian Lin'er, whom I also told you about before. She is the only level eight and a half soul mentor in our original Douluo Continent."

Looking at Huo Yuhao's physique, Xian Lin'er's eyes lit up slightly: "You mentioned before that you wanted to learn about the production of soul tools. I'll guide you and see if you have any talent in this area."
