Park City, at the Sundance Film Festival.
No one cared about "Leland's America" anymore; the media's focus was now entirely on Eric Cooper.
They came to the film festival as a routine matter, but unexpectedly caught a big fish. The reporters felt a surge of excitement.
"Quiet down, everyone. I know what you want to ask. One at a time, I'll answer them. Everyone else shut up. First up is you, yes, you."
The reporter who was called out looked excited: "Hello Mr. Cooper, I'm from the Chicago Herald. Is the news MGM released this morning true or false?"
"Of course it's true, there's no doubt about it," Eric said without hesitation.
Oh
All the reporters exclaimed in surprise, followed by elation; it was indeed big news.
"Mr. Cooper, you studied finance, but it seems you have no experience in directing. What makes you want to become a director? Are you really confident that you can direct 'Transformers' well? That's a big production."
Eric chuckled. "No one is born a director, but everyone can be one, can't they?"
"Many people can shoot videos with a DV camera or an 8mm camcorder, like 'The Blair Witch Project.' You can't deny that it was a successful film, can you?"
"While I haven't studied directing, Cameron was a truck driver, and he still made Titanic!"
Seeing Eric's confident demeanor, the reporters could hardly contain their laughter.
You really dare to compare yourself to James Cameron! Is he just an ordinary director? He's the King of the World!
If Titanic could be made so easily, why is there only one version in a hundred years? Anyone who says something like that must be seriously ill.
Many reporters recalled that press conference when Eric made the bold claim of a 7 million box office gross.
"Mr. Cooper, so you mean you believe that if you directed 'Transformers,' it could gross $7 million, right?"
"That's right, I have a lot of confidence in myself and in the Transformers brand. We are a powerful alliance! 7 million is not a problem at all."
Upon hearing the words "a powerful alliance," a reporter from the Los Angeles Entertainment Daily loudly asked, "Mr. Cooper, is this just a side project, or do you intend to pursue a career as a director?"
"Yes, I think I'll continue down this path. It's an interesting job, creative and not boring. I quite like it; it's very fun."
"So you want to be a director because you think it's fun?"
"Doesn't everything start with interest? We've been taught this principle since elementary school."
"So who are you targeting? Spielberg? Martin Scorsese? James Cameron? Or Ridley Scott?"
After a pause, Eric looked into the distance: "I won't be anyone, and I don't want to imitate anyone. Why can't I be the one being imitated?"
After being stuck in the traffic jam for almost an hour, Eric finally managed to escape after satisfying the group of gossip reporters.
Although the print media won't publish the interview until tomorrow, given the speed of these paparazzi, the information will be online by this afternoon. Otherwise, you won't even be able to catch up with the news.
Leaving the theater, Eric didn't plan to stay any longer. He had achieved his goal, and it was best for him to hide. If someone couldn't find his father, they would definitely come looking for him.
It was nearly noon, but the crowd was still huge. After looking around to make sure no reporters were watching, Eric pulled his hat down lower and, stepping through the snow, blended into the crowd.
After walking for a while, until we left the area, the feeling of being crammed with people finally disappeared.
Continuing forward, Eric couldn't help but reminisce about the days when he had GPS. This was his first time in Park City, and it wasn't convenient to bring Chen Xing along this time. He didn't even know where to find a decent hotel.
I asked a few people, but they were all tourists and knew nothing about it either. After all, a small town of just over 10,000 people suddenly had over 100,000 people flood in, so it was really difficult to find a few locals on the street.
"Hey! What are you asking? Maybe I can help you; you've been looking around for ages."
A voice sounded behind him. Eric turned around and saw a beautiful blonde girl standing behind him, smiling at him.
Eric noticed the woman when he asked her for directions, as she had been following him for a while.
Eric didn't think much of it, after all, there were now hundreds of thousands of people gathered here, and the town was only so big, so it was normal for people to share the same route. But now it seems that's not the case.
"Yes, I'd like to find a place to eat something and then rest a bit. Do you know of any upscale hotels?"
The girl nodded: "Of course I know, and this is exactly what I need. Let's go together, what do you say?"
Are you a local?
Eric assumed the other person was soliciting customers, although this kind of solicitation is rarely seen in the United States.
"No, I'm here for the film festival just like you. Actually, I'm an actor."
Upon hearing this, Eric instantly became alert and asked in a scrutinizing tone, "Who exactly are you? What do you want?"
The girl didn't hide anything: "Colossevini, someone who's interested in you, someone looking for an opportunity."
After saying that, he extended his hand to Eric.
Eric's honesty actually put him at ease. What could an actor possibly want if he was being targeted? It was nothing more than trying to sell himself and wanting a role.
Upon hearing the name, information about the other person immediately came to mind.
Colisevigne is indeed a moderately famous actor, or to be more precise, an actor whose awards and fame are disproportionate.
Because even though this girl is only in her early twenties, she has already received an Oscar nomination for Best Supporting Actress for playing a lesbian.
However, it's not 20 years from now, and movements like LGBT are not as prevalent, so even though she received a Best Supporting Actress nomination, Colossevini's career didn't go smoothly, and she still couldn't get good roles.
Before time travel, Eric's most memorable impression of her was that she publicly expressed her dislike for Jennifer Lawrence, saying that the latter was too pretentious.
Keep in mind that this was when Jennifer Lawrence was at the height of her popularity, so her willingness to say such things shows her personality.
Suddenly, Colossevini grabbed Eric's hand: "Come with me, I've been in Park City for several days now, I know this place very well."
"Wait, ma'am, is this how you market yourself? This behavior makes you look like a robber."
"So what? I don't care, after all, you're in my hands now."
"So, what do you want to take me to eat?"
Colossevini winked at Eric: "Of course, it's the most delicious thing."
"What?"
"I!"
