Chapter 88 Transfer Order

"Heh, couldn't I just come to see you and Naruto?" Jiraiya chuckled dryly, then said, but his face was full of guilt.

He knew he didn't really have the confidence to say that. He had been back for a while, but it wasn't until today that he thought of coming to see Naruto.

Kakashi was speechless for a while before speaking, "Lord Jiraiya, to be honest, you shouldn't have come back to get involved in this mess."

"Uh..." Jiraiya was at a loss for words when faced with Kakashi's direct response.

"Lord Jiraiya, neither Touhou nor the Third Hokage would show the expression you're wearing now," Kakashi said. "Lord Jiraiya, you're not capable of doing these things. Forcing your way in will only make things worse."

Jiraiya remained silent. He knew what Kakashi was talking about. After being put in the position of Hokage advisor by Hiruzen Sarutobi, he often felt uncomfortable. He had never been exposed to these things before, and he only found the intricacies of politics troublesome.

"Kakashi, I hope you can come and help me." Jiraiya took a deep breath and simply stated his purpose.

"Lord Jiraiya is too kind. I am a ninja from the village. If Lord Jiraiya needs anything, he can just give the order, right?" Kakashi said.

"Kakashi, you know that's not what I meant!" Kakashi's words were meaningless, leaving Jiraiya unsure how to respond, and he could only mumble something unclear.

"So what exactly is Jiraiya-sama trying to say?" Kakashi countered.

……

Silence fell over the reception room once again. Kakashi slowly sipped the sake in his cup. After a long while, Kakashi finally spoke: "See, Jiraiya-sama? I told you you weren't suited for this."

"Kakashi, I have my reasons for doing this," Jiraiya said with a sigh. "Touhuan cannot become Hokage."

"Why?" Kakashi raised an eyebrow.

"If Touhuan becomes Hokage, it will cause completely uncontrollable changes in the future, and at that time, a terrible disaster may occur," Jiraiya said solemnly.

"What Mount Myōboku said?" Kakashi almost laughed out of anger when he heard this. Jiraiya should have come up with a different reason. Even if he said that he discriminated against the Uchiha and didn't want the Uchiha to become Hokage, it would be better than using a prophecy as an excuse.

Jiraiya didn't say anything, but his expression basically indicated acquiescence.

"So, Jiraiya-sama, if you become Hokage, where will you lead the village?" Kakashi asked.

"I..." Jiraiya was taken aback. He hadn't really thought about this question, but he could only bite the bullet and say, "I will ensure the peace of the village until I hand over the Hokage's hat to the Sixth Hokage."

Kakashi smiled with relief when he heard this.

No wonder Uchiha Touhuan never took Jiraiya seriously. Lately, he had been getting anxious because Jiraiya was frequently showing up in the village, but every time he went to see Uchiha Touhuan, Uchiha Touhuan would just have tea with him in his office and tell him not to worry. He probably found it amusing to see him getting anxious and upset.

Kakashi's smile left Jiraiya somewhat puzzled.

"Jiraiya-sama, are there any plans for a sequel to Icha Icha Paradise?" Kakashi suddenly asked out of the blue. "If you're lacking inspiration, how about we take a stroll around Kabukicho in the village?"

"No...no need." Seeing this, Jiraiya knew that Kakashi was clearly refusing him. "It's getting late, so I won't disturb your rest any longer."

Kakashi stood up to see him off.

After the two reached the door, Jiraiya suddenly slapped his forehead and said, "Oh right, I was so drunk that I almost forgot something important."

"Kakashi, there have been many rogue ninja from Kirigakure on the border recently. The village has received many requests for help, and even the Daimyo has sent a message inquiring about this matter. The Third Hokage plans to send someone over to handle it, and you are the best candidate to lead the team."

Upon hearing this, Kakashi's gaze darkened. Was this a plan to transfer him away from the village?

"Okay, I understand." Kakashi nodded without changing his expression.

……

Not long after Jiraiya left, Kakashi also headed to the Uchiha clan's territory.

Upon arriving at Uchiha Touhuan's house, Kakashi learned from the butler, Keiko, that Uchiha Touhuan had gone out to train. After finding out the direction of the training ground, Kakashi immediately headed towards it.

Upon arriving at the training ground mentioned by Uchiha Keiko, Kakashi immediately saw Uchiha Touhuan meditating in the center of the forest.

"Coming to see me so late, it seems something important has happened." Uchiha Touhuan's voice rang in Kakashi's ears, but he remained in a meditative posture. "Jiraiya came to see you?"

"Yes," Kakashi nodded. "He wants me to go to the border to clear out the Kirigakure rogue ninja who have inexplicably increased in number recently."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"Do they want to transfer you out of the village?" Uchiha Touhuan exited Sage Mode and slowly stood up. "It's not impossible. You've been in the Anbu, which you can't show to others, all these years. You need some achievements that can be made public."

Although Kakashi made significant contributions at the Kannabi Bridge battle, in the eyes of some in the village, his achievements in this battle were more attributed to the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze. Compared to Uchiha Tohsen's feat of single-handedly striking down an entire ninja village, his achievements were not as convincing. Furthermore, in recent years, Kakashi had been working in the Anbu, where he could not show his true face, so his achievements could not be made public.

Therefore, if Kakashi can successfully complete this mission to the border, it will definitely be beneficial to him personally.

"Will you be okay living alone in the village if I leave?" Kakashi asked.

"What problem could I possibly have?" Uchiha Touhuan chuckled. "Unless they intend to completely break off relations and start a war within the village, but do they have the guts to do that?"

"Instead, you should think about how to complete this mission beautifully," Uchiha Touhuan laughed. "If I'm not mistaken, they probably want to lure you and the Fourth Hokage's former subordinates out of the village. Genma and the others are quite strong, but if you get surrounded, it will still be very troublesome. Your strength has stagnated for a long time compared to the Third Shinobi World War, hasn't it? White Fang was much stronger than you at your age."

"Do you also want to persuade me to remove this Sharingan?" Kakashi asked, touching his right eye.

"No, that's not it," Uchiha Touhuan shook his head. "This is a promise you made to my clansman. The Uchiha always respect the will of heroes. However, I do have some suggestions regarding your strength."
