Reborn in America: Starting as a California Resident

Huanglong Arcade is one of the largest entertainment empires on Hong Kong Island, with more than 20 arcade branches scattered like sparkling pearls in the island's most bustling districts.

These places are not only a paradise for unemployed people, but also a sacred place in the hearts of many teenagers, where they can unleash their youthful passion and enjoy the endless joy brought by games.

Of course, Huanglong Arcade's ability to stand out in the fiercely competitive market and grow into an industry leader is not only due to its offering of a series of innovative arcade games and relatively affordable pricing strategies, but also to the intricate network of connections behind it.

Their boss, Huang Long, though nearing forty, has intricate connections with Sun Yee On, one of Hong Kong's four major triad organizations.

This connection began by chance many years ago when Huanglong was the owner of a small arcade, facing numerous difficulties.

It was at that critical moment that the Heung family of the Sun Yee On triad stepped in to help him, providing not only financial support but also necessary protection, which helped him overcome the difficulties.

In return, Huang Long also provided certain conveniences to the Xiang family, such as providing cover for certain illegal activities.

As time went on, this mutually beneficial relationship continued to strengthen, and Huanglong Game Hall gradually grew in size. Huanglong himself also gained a foothold in the industry because of his close ties with the Xiang family.

However, this peace was broken by an outsider just two weeks ago.

Henry's move to acquire the arcade factory with lightning speed, like a dragon crossing the river, deeply stirred Huang Long's heartstrings.

He always felt that the other party had come prepared.

Therefore, from then on, he began to closely monitor Henry's every move and secretly established contact with several employees working at the science fiction arcade in order to obtain firsthand information about the arcade factory.

Until yesterday evening, April 25, 1979;

Huang Long finally received a message from his distant cousin at the Sci-Fi Arcade Factory: that American had actually produced two extremely high-quality games!

Furthermore, these games have already undergone initial testing within the factory, and have received high praise from the vast majority of testers.

According to his distant cousin, these games not only have exquisite graphics, but also extremely innovative gameplay, reaching new heights in terms of operability and fun.

This is undoubtedly a rare opportunity for Huanglong.

As a veteran who has spent half his life in the entertainment industry, he is extremely sensitive to anything that can bring him joy.

If these games can be introduced into your arcade, you can not only attract more players, but also potentially win the approval of "American bigwigs" and further expand your status in the entertainment industry.

Just do it!

Huang Long immediately took action.

He first sent his men to secretly visit several families who worked in management positions at the science fiction arcade factory, and through various means, he gathered detailed information about the two new games and their release schedules.

Afterwards, he personally went to the science fiction arcade factory, attempting to pay a visit and meet with Henry to reach a cooperation agreement.

However, after several attempts, he finally realized that this approach was not feasible—not because Henry was unwilling to see him, but because Henry's identity was special, with not only a private team of bodyguards protecting him, but also the Hong Kong police secretly guarding him.

As an obscure small business owner, it would be almost impossible for him to get in touch with Henry unless he received an invitation beforehand.

Therefore, after much deliberation, he could only adopt a roundabout strategy, contacting his patron and attempting to use Xiang Huayan, the second-generation leader of the Xiang family, to act as a bridge for him.

Speaking of which, let me correct a misconception.

In Hong Kong during the last century, the underworld was not as simple as outsiders imagined.

When someone climbs to the top of the underworld, everyone has to give them some respect! (Except for foreigners).

Don't assume the underworld is worthless just because you read other light novels, as if they're just mad dogs under the command of the rich!

All I can say is that people overestimated the wealth of Chinese people back then!

Taking the Xiang family as an example, the Sun Yee On triad they control has a large number of members, reaching more than 20.

In this context, try letting Li Huangtai sleep with Xiang Huayan's wife;

If his whole family can see the sun rise the next day, I'll eat my hat!

Before Hong Kong's return to China, the relationship between the underworld and Chinese capital was more of a cooperative one, with both sides depending on each other and prospering together, without any particular superiority or inferiority between them.

You hold the money bag, I hold the knife handle.

If you don't treat me like a human being, then I'll make you a ghost first!

Inciting crowds to cause trouble, launching large-scale confrontations, and even targeted assassinations are all tricks that triads excel at.

If there were to be internal strife among the Chinese, you would see that the British colonial government chose to remain neutral and watch from the sidelines.

Or perhaps they should go even further and directly intervene to fan the flames between the two sides.

The reason why organized crime later became ineffective and became subservient to capital was simply because it was forcibly suppressed by our national system.

"Mr. Xiang, thank you so much for taking the time to see me."

Huang Long entered a high-end restaurant designated by the Sun Yee On triad and met a middle-aged man dressed in an exquisite suit with a composed demeanor. He bowed respectfully to him.

"Mr. Huang, you're too kind."

Xiang Huayan picked up a napkin and wiped his mouth, then said bluntly, "Speak, what do you want to see me about?"

He didn't have much time to waste on this little white glove;

The Sun Yee On triad controls no fewer than several hundred "gloves" like Huang Long's!

If it weren't for the other party's past hard work and achievements, he would never have given the other party the opportunity to meet him!

Huang Long nodded, understanding that the other party was "busy with work";

He quickly took a folder from his briefcase and handed it to Xiang Huayan: "Mr. Xiang, this is information about two new games launched by Sci-Fi Arcade Factory."

This factory was acquired by the American who came to Hong Kong half a month ago.

From what I understand, these two upcoming games are bound to cause a huge sensation in the market.

I'd like to discuss agency matters with the owner of the sci-fi arcade game company.

"You want me to arrange a meeting with Henry Getty for you?"

Xiang Huayan took the folder, casually flipped through a few pages, and a hint of interest flashed in his eyes.

He slowly closed the folder, his gaze returning to Huang Long: "This is not a good matter!"

There's a chance!

Chinese culture is profound and extensive.

Difficult to handle doesn't mean impossible!

Next, we'll see how much the person entrusted with the task is willing to pay.

Huang Long, a veteran of the business world for decades, knows best the intricacies of this situation.

His chubby face immediately filled with sincerity: "That's exactly right, Mr. Xiang."

"If we can be the first to introduce these two games, my arcade will definitely experience a new wave of popularity, and the Sun Yee On triad will also benefit from it."

Regardless of whether this matter succeeds or not, I am willing to give 10% of this year's arcade revenue to the Sun Yee On triad.

If things happen to succeed by chance, I am willing to give Mr. Xiang another 50% of the revenue from the new game as a reward.
