Reborn in America: Starting as a California Resident
Chapter 64 Henry's Little Clique
Henry's mind raced through fragments of Jerry's family history. He smiled and said humbly, "Thank you for your kindness, Jerry."
Everything's fine at my company right now, we don't need anything for the time being... Oh, look over there, Bruce's here!
Just as the two were chatting enthusiastically, Henry's gaze passed over Jerry's shoulder and landed on a tall figure that had just appeared at the classroom door.
Wearing a well-fitting blue suit, her slightly messy blond hair unexpectedly added a touch of casual charm.
With a white rose pinned to his chest, he entered the classroom with a relaxed yet slightly languid air, as if the whole world was making way for him.
He was another of Henry's "best buddies"—Bruce Reagan.
He is also the eldest grandson of former California Governor Ronald Wilson Reagan (1966-1974) and his first wife, Jane Wyman.
As a typical Anglo-Saxon descendant, Bruce's physique and blond hair and blue eyes contrasted sharply with Jerry's Jewish heritage.
He was about the same size as Henry, but much taller than Jerry, who was only 1.8 meters tall.
Those deep blue eyes quickly locked onto their target in the crowd, and a warm smile immediately appeared on their lips.
His steps were light and confident, each step following its own rhythm: "Hey guys!"
You're finally back, Henry!
You have no idea how much we miss you every day!
Bruce first gave Jerry a high-five, then hugged Henry tightly and casually put his arms around their shoulders.
What were you talking about just now?
Don't tell me it's those boring topics like trade secrets or family history again.
Henry and Jerry exchanged a smile, clearly delighted by Bruce's arrival.
"Of course not."
Henry replied, "We're about to change to a more interesting topic, like—"
"for example?"
Bruce asked curiously, his gaze shifting back and forth between the two.
"For example, your last surfing adventure in Mexico."
Jerry interjected, a sly glint in his eyes.
"Oh no,"
Bruce feigned a horrified expression: "If you want to hear that story, you'll at least have to treat me to a good meal first!"
After saying that, the three of them laughed together, creating a relaxed and pleasant atmosphere.
Despite their vastly different backgrounds and personalities, their deep friendship remains exceptionally strong.
Jerry smiled and gently nudged Henry. "Henry, you look very successful. We're all proud of you."
"Speaking of which,"
Bruce interjected, "I heard your company is doing very well in San Francisco, that's amazing!"
Henry shrugged, trying to appear nonchalant. "It's alright, just getting started."
But I'm really busy, and sometimes I miss the days we spent together.
"Of course."
Jerry chimed in, "But speaking of which, Henry, if you ever need any help in the future, just let me know."
Although I'm not directly involved in managing my family business like before, I still have some connections.
"That's right."
Although his family wasn't as well-off as Henry's, Bruce still showed a willingness to go to great lengths for his brothers: "When the three of us are together, there's no problem we can't solve."
......
The three of them sat together, reminiscing about all the fun things that happened in school.
They talked about the various activities they had participated in together, and the pranks that had made them laugh out loud.
Despite the passage of time, these shared memories seem to bind them tightly together.
"By the way, Henry, do you know?"
"Our school recently welcomed a stunningly beautiful and talented young lady!"
"A noble lady?"
Hearing Bruce use the word "lady," Henry couldn't help but feel curious.
In their social class, there are indeed very few who can be called "noble ladies"!
"Yes, her name is Rachel, and she is one of the main members of the Mellon family."
Jerry added from the side, "Her grandfather was Richard King, the third-generation head of the Mellon family and conglomerate."
"Wow, a member of the Mellon family, that's a rare sight indeed."
In fact, there is a hidden, invisible, yet very real, sphere of influence barrier between traditional American clans.
Each member of the upper-class family will only attend school within the sphere of influence of their own family before reaching adulthood, in order to ensure their safety and the quality of their education.
However, Rachel's appearance seems to have broken this convention.
Although Mellon is a multinational conglomerate with considerable influence throughout the United States;
However, compared to Pennsylvania and New York, they are still quite different in California.
Henry felt that there must be some hidden meaning behind the other party's sudden transfer to Montiveta School;
However, Henry was truly puzzled by the real reason behind this.
After a moment's thought, he couldn't help but ask, "How long has she been studying here?"
Rachel transferred here a month ago; she's in eleventh grade now.
She kept a very low profile at school; apart from a handful of us, very few people knew her true background.
Bruce recalled the time and slowly replied, "Moreover, she seems to be very cautious about making friends, only interacting with a few people."
Jerry added, "Even so, she is very passionate about charity and has participated in several rounds of various public welfare activities organized by the school in the past month."
Not only is she smart, but she's also incredibly beautiful—she's practically perfect.
Henry nodded thoughtfully: "He does sound like a very outstanding person."
However, why are you all so concerned about her, and why did you specifically mention her to me?
"hey-hey!"
Bruce and Jerry exchanged a meaningful glance, and then Bruce said, "Actually, we both think you and Rachel might get along very well."
After all, you both have similar family backgrounds and a certain understanding and interest in business.
Jerry continued, "And, Henry, I'm sure you haven't invited any dance partners yet, have you?"
Tonight is our 12th grade graduation prom, you can't be all alone!
We think it would be great if you could invite Rachel to be your dance partner.
After all, if we can establish connections with the Mellon family through this, it will be of great help to our future business.
"Okay! I knew it!"
You guys always manage to come up with these weird and wonderful ideas.
Henry smiled helplessly upon hearing this. He knew that his two friends wouldn't bring up Rachel for no reason; they must have something on their minds.
"But speaking of which, how did you know I don't have a dance partner?"
"because,"
Jerry chuckled smugly, "We're your best buddies, we know everything about you..."
