Chapter 72 Graduation Ball
Time flies, night falls, and before we know it, it's time for the Monteverta High School graduation ball to officially begin.
At 6:30 p.m. in Los Angeles, the school auditorium, built in 1926 and resembling an old castle, is brightly lit, as if it has become the brightest star in the night sky.
On the red carpet laid out in front of the auditorium, twelfth-grade students drove their luxury cars slowly to a stop. The gentle hum of the engines mingled with the surrounding laughter, creating an atmosphere that was both solemn and full of anticipation.
The girls' skirts, like blooming flowers, shimmered with various colors under the lights. Some chose white, symbolizing purity, while others chose deep blue, representing wisdom and dreams.
They dressed up meticulously, their hair adorned with tiny jewels, and took each step with utmost care, afraid of ruining their perfect look.
The boys, on the other hand, were very gentlemanly, dressed in well-tailored black or dark blue suits with their shoes polished to a shine.
Some were nervous, some were excited, and they joked with each other in an attempt to ease the unease of their anticipation.
The interior of the large auditorium, which spans over 30,000 square feet, has also been completely renovated.
The ceiling is adorned with ribbons and lights, and the walls are decorated with flowers, artwork, and school honors certificates.
In addition to the spacious dance floor in the center, all the benches have been removed and replaced with carefully arranged round dining tables, each set with exquisite food and drinks;
The band was already set up on the side of the stage, just waiting for the moment to begin.
In less than half an hour, almost all of the more than one hundred 12th grade students at Montevideo High School had arrived.
The atmosphere in the auditorium gradually warmed up, and everyone took their seats.
Despite the large number of people, the auditorium did not feel stuffy due to the good ventilation system.
Hi, teachers, students, and dear friends;
Welcome to the graduation ball at Montevideo High School on this star-studded night!
I am Rachel Mellon, an eleventh-grade student, and it is an honor for me to host this special moment tonight.
When I stand on this stage and see the smiles on each of your faces, I know that tonight is destined to be extraordinary.
Tonight marks not only the end of an era, but also the beginning of a new journey.
Here, we have witnessed each other's growth, from initial unfamiliarity to today's close bond, and every moment is worth treasuring.
I remember the naivety and curiosity we felt when we first stepped into this campus. At that time, we probably didn't know that the days to come would be full of challenges and opportunities.
We have engaged in heated debates in the classroom, sweated it out on the field, and buried ourselves in our studies in the library. These experiences have shaped who we are today.
Tonight, as we stand at this important juncture in our lives, let us temporarily set aside the uncertainties of the future and embrace the joy before us.
[At this point, I hope readers will remember our domain name 1110 ...
Let music be the bridge between our hearts, let dance be the language of our emotions, and let laughter fill the entire auditorium.
This is your night, your moment to shine!
Here, I would also like to thank all those who have supported and helped us—our respected teachers and hardworking school staff.
Without you, this graduation prom would not have been so perfect.
Now, please raise your glasses and toast to our shared memories and to the tomorrow that is to come!
Wow! She's the host this year?!
Rachel Mellon's appearance truly stunned everyone, and Henry and many others were quite surprised.
It's worth noting that in the past, Montevideo High School's graduation ball was always hosted by famous alumni or big-name guests, but this year, for the first time, they chose such a young and charming junior.
This is absolutely unconventional!
The other students also started whispering among themselves. Some were quite curious about the decision, while others gave Rachel a thumbs up for her abilities.
However, as Rachel's confident and infectious voice rang out, the little question marks in everyone's minds slowly disappeared.
She smoothly introduced the evening's schedule, from the opening welcome speech to the banquet, the awards ceremony, and the most anticipated dance performance.
She also mentioned the upcoming annual Best Couple Awards, as well as the selection of the "Prom King" and "Prom Queen."
"I would like to express my special thanks to all the teachers and staff who helped prepare for this ball. Without your support, none of this would have been possible."
I also want to thank every student for their enthusiastic participation; you all made tonight even more wonderful.
"Ladies and gentlemen, let me announce that the Monteverta High School Class of 1979 graduation ball is now officially beginning!"
Let's raise our glasses to our friendship, to our future! Cheers!
After Rachel finished speaking, the auditorium erupted in another round of enthusiastic applause and cheers.
The band played a pleasant melody at just the right moment, and the lighting technician illuminated the entire auditorium brightly. The colorful lights flickered with the music, creating a dreamlike scene.
"Is the band ready?"
Lighting technician, bring some light here!
Let beautiful music fill the entire night!
Rachel's voice was full of passion, and her words inspired everyone present.
As the lights changed and the music started, the atmosphere in the auditorium reached its peak.
One by one, the students stood up, walked to the center of the dance floor, and began the first dance of this unforgettable night.
"Oh? Good evening, Henry."
Just as Henry politely declined Jerry and Bruce's invitation to join him on the central dance floor and was enjoying the exquisite snacks and drinks at the corner table by himself, a sweet voice rang out from behind him, causing him to involuntarily turn around.
Two blonde, blue-eyed girls came into view, dressed in gorgeous gowns and smiling brightly.
One of them caught Henry's eye – his ex-girlfriend Lilith Douglas and her inseparable friend Sophie Gallo.
Lilith wore a light pink dress, the hem of which swayed gently with her light steps;
Sophie, on the other hand, wore a silver evening gown that shimmered brilliantly under the ball lights.
However, Henry remained remarkably calm in the face of their beautiful faces.
The painful memories of the original owner's past relationship are still etched deep in his soul and have not completely faded away!
He tried to suppress his annoyance, forced a slightly perfunctory smile, and nodded, saying, "Hi, Lilith, Sophie."
haven't seen you for a long time.
Is there something you need?
