Reborn in America, I'm serious about making money.
Is Chapter 7 really that easy?
Helen watched as Zhang San handed Jim six hundred dollars and said, "It's a pleasure doing business with you."
Jim smiled broadly and said, "Stephen, you're a great partner. Come to me again next time you need something like this."
"Of course, I enjoy working with my old buddies."
The two parted ways and sat in the car. Helen said, "You developed your agents at school?"
"Just a friend."
Helen was driving, and Zhang San next to her was counting money, all in $10 and $20 notes. This money was really great.
There are a total of $3,700. Adding the $2,000 from last time, there are a total of $5,700. In addition, there is the income from working at Blockbuster. After deducting food, drink and gas expenses, there are still $5,400 left, which is equivalent to half a year's income for an average person.
"Where are we going?"
"Of course I went to buy home appliances." This time, in addition to selling computers, we also talked about other things, such as home appliances, printers, and other household appliances.
"I'll take you somewhere nice tonight."
As he spoke, Zhang San pulled out four hundred dollars from the stack of money, put the rest away, and noticed a family nearby putting a pile of things outside their house.
"Stop for a minute." Zhang San stopped Helen, who was driving, and handed her the four hundred dollars, saying, "This is your salary for this week." Before she could react, he got out of the car and walked towards the house.
"Hi, sir, do you need to deal with these?"
The man of the house looked at him warily and then asked, "What do you do for a living?"
Helen got out of the car behind them and walked towards them. At this moment, the man relaxed, and Zhang San said, "We're a deliveryman, and we pick up some jobs on the side. Are you taking these to the storage point?"
"Yes, you want to take this job?"
"Of course, sir, why not?" Zhang San revealed a harmless smile.
The man took out fifty dollars and said, "I'll take care of everything. Fifty dollars, is that enough?"
"Of course, sir!"
Zhang San smiled and took the money, then gestured for Helen to drive the car closer. Zhang San started packing; inside were a computer, a television, and some old furniture. Helen's pickup truck was quickly filled, and the male homeowner was very happy, waving goodbye to them.
Upon arriving at the storage site, Zhang San left behind his computer and television, but the furniture, which looked very worn, was simply thrown away.
Perhaps they had used up all their luck, because they didn't find anything good here this time, and left after looking around; that evening, they went to the same restaurant as before and had another steak dinner.
When they returned to their lodgings, they found that the two people had not yet come back.
"Why haven't they come back yet? It's already six o'clock."
Zhang San still cared a lot about his brother-in-law. North America at night is very dangerous; if you go out once, you might lose your underwear.
"Haven't you noticed? You're like an old woman."
Zhang San didn't want to talk anymore, but after thinking about it, he still said, "Let's go check where they work. If we're late, it will be dangerous to come back."
Zhang San was right, and Helen agreed with him. The two put their things away and then drove to the Blockbuster store. Sure enough, they saw a lot of police officers there, which made Zhang San nervous.
As they got out of the car, they saw the police looking at them and putting their hands on the guns at their waists.
Zhang San pointed his palm directly at them, raised it, and said, "I have a relative who works here. Can you tell us what happened here?"
Helen also got out of the car, and the police then said, "There was a robbery here, and an unlucky guy was beaten to death."
"What's the name of that unlucky guy you're talking about? Can you tell me? I'm really worried about my relative."
Just then, someone came out from inside, saw Zhang San, and immediately ran over calling out, "Stephen, are you here to pick me up? You scared me to death today!" It was Allen, who looked panicked.
Jessica followed behind, seemingly unfazed. She slowly walked over and said, "This little guy is terrified."
Seeing Allen crying, Zhang San comforted him and said, "Luckily you didn't wet yourself, or you would have been so embarrassed."
"Yeah, he didn't pee his pants, otherwise I would have dumped him." Jessica was very tough, and her words made the police officer next to her laugh. In North America, gunfights happen every day, and it's a miracle if there are no gunfights.
"Who died?"
"I'm going to be the store manager. I guess I'm going to become the store manager."
Jessica looked indifferent. This kind of thing happens once or twice a year at this store, and she's used to it.
"Oh, that's a sad story," Zhang San sighed, then, seeing that Allen had stopped crying, said, "Stephen, thank you for coming to see me, really."
Helen said, "Let's go back. Are we going to be watched here?"
People were already looking this way. Naturally, Zhang San didn't want to be watched either. The four of them got into the car and left. They had already taken a statement when Stephen came over. The robber had fought with the hot-tempered store manager and both of them died.
Jessica said this on the way back. The scene must have been very intense, otherwise Allen wouldn't have been so frightened. Moreover, they smelled strongly of gunpowder.
But Zhang San didn't care about that. He would be more careful next time and would definitely go home first in the evening. It was too scary. He hadn't noticed it before, but now that he thought about it, he could still see bloodstains and broken glass on the ground.
"Your store manager, he's gone?"
"Yes, poor guy. He was a good person, just had a bad temper," Jessica said calmly, clearly deeply saddened by the manager's death.
Zhang San asked, "What about his family?"
"He's divorced, and with that kind of temper, no one can live with him." Jessica sighed as she said this.
After all, they had been colleagues for over a year, so there was bound to be some affection between them, even in the cold and indifferent America. Even so, Zhang San was still somewhat unhappy that the store manager had fired him.
"May he be free from gunfights in heaven."
Zhang San uttered a sentence that left the other three speechless.
Gun violence has long been a problem in North America, but banning guns is contrary to the Constitution, and more importantly, it is unfriendly to arms dealers, so don't even think about banning guns.
After arriving home, Zhang San, unusually, cooked a sweet and sour Chinese dish, um, it was scrambled eggs with tomatoes.
Perhaps because they relaxed, the two also felt hungry and began to devour the food, with Helen joining in.
"Helen, aren't you full?"
"That one steak isn't enough."
