Since getting together with Jessica, Allen has lost all his dreams; but Zhang San is naturally different. He has his own ideals and feels that since he has been reborn, he should not live his life like a wage slave in his previous life.

With Helen joining him, Zhang San's initial capital accumulation process went much more smoothly; of course, he also had his first employee and bed partner, which made him feel that this kind of life wasn't so bad.

Recently, the two have been driving around appliance depots in the Greater Los Angeles area, taking computer towers with them and monitors as well.

"Hey Stephen, can these really be exchanged for US dollars?"

Watching Zhang San test the machine, Helen asked out of curiosity; she said this because she was a poor student, and there were many people like her in North America who didn't learn much even after attending a public university.

"You shouldn't ask such questions. You should learn how to work; that way we'll have money to pay for our lives here."

Zhang San's words weren't pleasant, but Helen didn't mind. Instead, she actually watched how he worked. In this way, the small room became their workspace, and soon, the room was filled with a lot of electronic waste.

This duo had quite a haul that day, with four computer mainframes and three usable CRT monitors available for their use, which they could then exchange for money.

Zhang San stuck the note with the configuration to the PC case and said happily, "Helen, we're going to USC tomorrow. There should be someone there who needs our work."

"Are you planning to sell this junk to them?"

Helen looked at her friend with an expression of utter disbelief. In her opinion, her friend was much better than these white people in North America. Although he could be strict at times, she didn't dislike him; after all, she was still his employee.

"What rubbish! You can't say that tomorrow; otherwise we'll lose all our clients. If you drive them away, you won't get paid either, and we'll be sleeping on the streets."

Helen didn't speak, but simply nodded to indicate that she understood.

"I'll make a call. You can reassemble the machine with the missing parts and practice your skills."

There was no phone in the room, so Zhang San had to go outside and use the public phone downstairs to contact the client, that student from USC from last time.

"Hi, hello, I'm looking for Jim, Jim Clark."

Zhang San felt things went very smoothly. He made the call directly, and someone answered. He heard a voice on the other end calling out, which should have been Jim's name.

"This is Jim. Who are you?"

"Jim, I'm Stephen Zhang, the Chinese guy who sold you the computer last time."

Jim remembered Zhang San, this Chinese man, very clearly. The computer he was using now was bought from him. It worked very well, and it was very clean inside; it wasn't stolen.

"Oh, Stephen, I remember you. What's up?"

Hearing the other party's lazy voice, Zhang San said, "One 386, same price as last time; three 286s, only $700; does anyone want them?"

"I need to ask about that." Zhang San sensed the perfunctory tone. In this society where no one gets up early without a profit, he knew he needed to produce something tangible.

He said in a tempting tone, "Jim, I have something to tell you. Would you like to earn some extra money?"

Upon hearing about the extra income, Jim perked up. He knew what the other person meant and immediately replied, "Of course, Stephen."

"How about I give you fifty dollars for each customer you refer?"

Upon hearing this, Jim on the other end immediately became excited and said, "Wait for my good news, call me at nine o'clock tomorrow morning."

Sure enough, the guy who was a bit lazy at first became energetic; after hanging up the phone, Zhang San felt that everything was in order, so he wrote down the instructions to call at nine o'clock the next day.

Helen knew that the matter should be settled when she saw Zhang San enter with a smile.

"Did you beat the next player?"

"Not yet, but there's some progress."

During this time, Helen had already set up a computer, but it was unusable. She would take it away tomorrow, which would free up a lot of space in the room, making it seem like there was more room.

He also joined in cleaning up the parts, but he kept the CPU, memory, and hard drive. He was even thinking of using aqua regia to clean the motherboard, but he gave up on that idea. This is North America, not India.

"Let's go together tomorrow. We're all very tired today, so let's treat ourselves to something nice tonight."

Hearing him say that, Helen's gloomy expression eased considerably. She said, "You're different from other Chinese people; they're all very frugal."

"Why do we make money? Of course, it's to enjoy life. We can't have money and then live a miserable life, haha..."

Without waiting for Allen and Jessica to return, the two of them drove their pickup truck to a nearby steakhouse. Why not go for Chinese food? Chinese food isn't cheap, and steak is more affordable. Besides, Zhang San didn't even know if Helen liked Chinese food.

Zhang San didn't encounter any trouble at this steakhouse because he was low-key enough, while Helen didn't care about her appearance, didn't dress up, and was even a bit sloppy, but this made Zhang San feel that she was very beautiful.

When the two returned, Jessica and Allen had already finished dinner. Seeing them come back, Jessica teased, "Hey, you guys went on a date?"

Helen went straight into the room, while Zhang San said, "You've worked hard today, let's go out for a nice meal and treat ourselves."

Zhang San returned to his room, preparing to test the PC again. Sometimes he wondered how Jessica and Helen, with their completely opposite personalities, could become such good friends. For example, at night, Jessica's voice was very penetrating, as if she was afraid others wouldn't know; while Helen would grit her teeth and not make a sound, as if she was afraid others would know.

At nine o'clock, Zhang San made the call on time, and sure enough, opportunity always favors the clever.

"Hi Stephen, my classmates agree on $1300 for 386 and $800 for 286."

Before Zhang San could speak, Jim's voice came from the other end. Zhang San immediately understood what the other person meant and said, "Okay, Jim, my friend, see you at the school gate at ten o'clock."

"Helen, you lazy woman, get up now, we have a customer."

Zhang San brought out the four computers he had tested last night. Now it was just the two of them in the room; Allen and his wife had already gone to work.
