Chapter 29 First Day of School

In the days leading up to the start of the school term, Hogwarts gradually regained its former vitality.

Some of the children have already returned to school ahead of schedule.

After getting the diary, Wes spent most of his time, except when he was resting, immersed in in-depth research on magic, trying to explore its deeper mysteries.

Of course, some also tried to establish contact with Tom, the senior in the diary.

However, Tom remained extremely reserved and never gave Wes the slightest response.

Until the night before school started, Weiss wrote the following in his diary:

"A question has always deeply troubled me: why do wizards have the same lifespan as Muggles? Wizards possess amazing magical powers and are clearly a higher life form, so why is that?"

"Niccolò Flamel lived for over 600 years thanks to the Philosopher's Stone; the Philosopher's Stone is truly amazing!"

"That damned Dumbledore actually refused my terms and insisted on destroying the Philosopher's Stone! This is practically a crime!"

"Dumbledore is senile; he is no longer the revered and greatest wizard he once was..."

In these lines of text that Weiss deliberately wrote, his dissatisfaction with Muggles and his strong yearning for immortality are evident between the lines.

Sure enough, just as Wes had predicted, the writing slowly disappeared, as if absorbed by a mysterious force, gradually merging into the diary.

Tom finally couldn't hold back any longer.

A moment later, a clear line appeared in the diary: "I can help you!"

Wes's lips curled into a smug smile, and he thought to himself, "Finally, they've taken the bait!"

However, he did not reply immediately. Instead, he slammed the diary shut and pretended to be frightened.

He then locked the diary back into the drawer.

The next day, Weiss carefully straightened his robes and went to school for the opening ceremony. When Weiss arrived at the auditorium, all the professors were already there.

As soon as Dumbledore saw Wes, he sensed an unusual magical power emanating from him.

[This magical reaction... he has already entered this realm.]

Although Wes did not deliberately hide his strength, none of the professors, including Dean Flitwick, realized that Wes had reached a higher level.

Only Dumbledore keenly noticed Wes's change. Dumbledore raised his glass: "Congratulations, Wizard Erwin."

"Thank you." Wes calmly picked up his glass and lightly clinked it against Dumbledore's.

The two of them drank the wine in their glasses in one gulp.

The professors exchanged bewildered glances, completely unaware of what the two were celebrating.

The opening ceremony was held on time, but this year everyone's attention was elsewhere. Even the annual, much-anticipated embarrassing moments of the new students went unnoticed.

Because everyone's attention was drawn to the headlines of the Daily Prophet.

The Ford Anglia can fly, much to the astonishment of Muggles.

Wes picked up the newspaper from his seat, shook his head slightly, and said, "No wonder he's the little lion of Gryffindor, he's really brave."

Professor McGonagall was so angry after reading the report that she trembled with rage.

"Maybe they found train travel too boring, so they switched to another mode of transportation. I've never even ridden in a car before; I've heard about this Muggle mode of transport..."

Under Professor McGonagall's murderous gaze, Dumbledore wisely shut his mouth and dared not say another word.

"Dumbledore, this is not the time for jokes," Professor McGonagall said anxiously, deeply concerned for the safety of her two students.

"Do you know how serious the consequences are? You've already violated a whole host of school rules before even enrolling, and even the secrecy law!"

"Calm down, Minerva..."

Dumbledore tried to calm Professor McGonagall, but before he could finish speaking, Snape said ominously:

"They should be locked up in Azkaban. Hogwarts cannot accept such lawless students."

Professor McGonagall glared at Snape, but Snape seemed oblivious, remaining expressionless.

Just then, the sound of an engine suddenly came from outside the castle, and everyone turned their eyes to look out the window.

A blue car was seen flying erratically through the air, swaying and wobbling as it passed the castle.

"That's Dad's car, Ron and Harry are inside!" Fred and George shouted excitedly.

The students erupted in cheers; everyone was excited because no one had ever done such a feat before.

"They really have ideas; it's true that people fall behind the times when they get old."

Dumbledore adjusted his glasses, which were about to slip off his nose.

"Oh no!!" Professor McGonagall exclaimed, "They're heading towards the Whomping Willow."

Professor Snape was even faster than her.

"Foolish, reckless Potter..."

He quickly left his seat and strode outside.

Professor McGonagall followed closely behind.

"Alright, let Severus and Minerva handle it. I trust they'll take good care of the two children."

Dumbledore gestured for everyone to continue eating.

"Kids these days are so daring. I wasn't that crazy when I was young."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Professor Flitwick took a sip of wine to calm his nerves.

"I actually think that car is quite interesting."

Wes became very interested in the modified flying magic car.

Perhaps I could ask Mr. Weasley for advice on how to customize a car to my own.

Gilderoy Lockhart, with a mixture of envy and jealousy, said, "Why didn't I think of that? This would be explosive news that could make the headlines."

Upon hearing this, the professor next to him gave him a disdainful look, then silently moved his chair a little further away.

Gilderoy Lockhart seemed completely oblivious to the disdain others had for him, and began to boast incessantly about his adventurous experiences.

The professors had to endure his verbal barrage, their faces contorted in pain, as if they had been struck by an unforgivable curse from a dark wizard.

"Professor Erwin is also an adventurer; perhaps you two have something in common."

Dumbledore also couldn't stand Lockhart's incessant chatter, so he pushed this arrogant guy to Wes.

"Professor Erwin, I think we've met before. Do you remember my book signing?"

Gilderoy Lockhart excitedly leaned his seat closer to Wes: "Maybe we can form an adventure team, and I'll write our adventures into my next book..."

"I'm sorry, I prefer to be alone..."

While enjoying his steak, Weiss gave a somewhat perfunctory answer to Gilderoy Lockhart.

But Wes underestimated Gilderoy Lockhart's shamelessness; he was still relentlessly trying to recruit Wes.

"Professor Erwin is so handsome, he has the potential to become a big star."

"I have good relationships with many newspapers."

"..."

"..."

Gilderoy Lockhart's incessant chatter annoyed Wes.

With a spell cast, Gilderoy Lockhart shut his mouth.

"Waaaaah~"

Gilderoy Lockhart was at a loss. He frantically gestured for Wes to break the spell, but Wes did not agree.

He started asking other professors for help, but none of them were willing to assist him.

Everyone thought that silencing him was a good idea.

Dumbledore even quietly gave Wes a thumbs up.

Gilderoy Lockhart raised his wand to cast a spell on himself, but because his skill was so poor, he used the wrong spell and knocked himself unconscious on the spot.
