Chapter 374 Gathering

Tony gripped his phone tightly, his brow furrowed, his eyes revealing a conflicted expression.

His gaze was fixed on the familiar phone number on the screen, his fingers trembling slightly above the screen, he hesitated to press the dial button.

The events that had occurred during this period were like a tangled mess in his mind, especially the desperate situation Washington was in, which made him anxious and yet deeply powerless.

But he knew in his heart that now was no time to hesitate. If he did not take action soon, the whole of the United States and even the world might fall into an even more chaotic situation.

Finally, he gritted his teeth and pressed the dial button.

The call was answered quickly.

"Tony," came Steve's steady yet slightly weathered voice from the other end of the phone. This voice instantly stirred up countless complex memories and emotions in Tony's heart, including the tacit understanding and trust they had shared while fighting side by side, as well as the estrangement and conflicts that arose later due to differences in their ideologies.

For a moment, he didn't know what to say; his throat was blocked, and he could only remain silent.

"Let's meet at the usual place."

Steve's tone remained concise and firm, and he hung up the phone before giving Tony much time to react.

Tony listened to the dial tone and let out a long sigh of relief, as if a huge weight had been lifted from his heart. But at the same time, he also felt a faint sense of loss.

Perhaps it's because of the once inseparable friendship that can never be returned, or perhaps it's because of the helplessness felt towards the current relationship full of cracks.

A day later, the atmosphere inside Avengers Tower in New York was unusually somber.

This time, not only were the members of the Avengers gathered together for the first time since the Civil War, but many other superheroes also came to join them.

Daredevil's iconic red bodysuit is particularly eye-catching.

The Punisher maintained his ruthless aura as always.

The members of the Defenders stood in neat rows, whispering among themselves.

Even the young Spider-Man weaved through the crowd, his red and blue suit standing out prominently. He would occasionally look up, curiously observing these renowned veterans around him.

However, due to the existence of the Superhero Act, the atmosphere at the scene was inevitably somewhat tense.

The superheroes naturally split into several small groups, keeping a certain distance from each other, sizing each other up with wary eyes and bewildered expressions about the current situation.

The situation only subtly changed when Steve arrived.

As soon as Steve stepped into the hall, he attracted everyone's attention like a powerful magnet.

The previously scattered crowd unconsciously turned their attention to him.

Even the Punisher, who was always a loner and had a cold personality, raised his head slightly, took the initiative to walk over to Steve, and nodded gently in greeting.

Captain America certainly has an extraordinary appeal among these superheroes; his appearance gives everyone hope of uniting to deal with the crisis together.

"I'm sorry I'm late."

Steve was apologetic.

"Hello, Captain."

Some of the young superheroes greeted Steve excitedly, their eyes filled with admiration and respect.

"Captain, could I get your autograph?"

A slightly immature voice suddenly rang out. Everyone turned to look and saw a young, new-faced superhero, his face flushed, standing shyly in front of Steve with a small notebook and pen in hand, his eyes full of anticipation.

For a moment, the atmosphere was somewhat like Steve's fan meeting, which eased the tense mood a little.

"Ahem," Tony coughed a few times on purpose, trying to draw everyone's attention back to the current grim situation.

Upon hearing the cough, everyone remembered the true purpose of their gathering and turned their attention to Tony.

"I think I have more important things to do right now," Tony said, as he stretched out his hand and gently waved it in the air. A map of Washington, D.C., was then vividly displayed in front of everyone using state-of-the-art 3D projection technology.

Washington was covered by a crystal-clear blue ice sheet, and iconic buildings such as the White House and the Capitol Building could only be seen as blurry outlines. The whole city appeared dead and cold.

"The situation is not optimistic," Tony said gravely as he began to explain the current state of affairs in Washington.

He mentioned that the military had organized several rescue operations in an attempt to break the frozen state of Washington and rescue the trapped officials and civilians, but all of them had failed.

Before the soldiers could even catch a glimpse of the White House, they were instantly frozen into ice sculptures by the extreme cold, forever remaining in that icy wasteland.

As Peter listened to Tony's account and saw the image of the American soldier frozen solid, Peter shuddered. His eyes widened, and he asked in horror, "How low was that temperature?!"

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"Minus 100 degrees Celsius," Tony gave an accurate figure.

This number sent a collective gasp through everyone present.

"Such extreme weather is completely unsuitable for human survival, and machines and weapons cannot withstand such low temperatures and are simply unusable."

The Punisher frowned and said worriedly, knowing full well that such extreme conditions posed an almost insurmountable obstacle to the rescue operation.

"That's right," Tony clapped his hands, and the surrounding walls slowly opened, revealing rows of brand-new suits neatly arranged inside. "These are the 'cold-resistant suits' that I developed."

Tony explained.

Everyone knows that anything made by Iron Man is bound to be a masterpiece.

The Punisher stepped forward, picked up a set of antifreeze clothing, and pulled on it forcefully, trying to test its quality.

After a series of tests, Tony demonstrated the powerful performance of this cold-weather suit. It can withstand temperatures as low as -150 degrees Celsius and is also very elastic, so wearing it in combat will not affect you in the slightest.

Furthermore, Tony also prepared a variety of specially made weapons for this operation.

Every part and every process of these weapons has undergone repeated testing and improvement.

Its outer shell is made of a new type of cold-resistant alloy material, and the internal precision electronic components have also undergone special treatment, giving it strong cold resistance.

Even in the extreme cold of Washington, D.C., it was able to operate stably and normally without any jamming, malfunctions, or damage, providing the superheroes with solid and reliable fire support in this rescue operation.

Seeing the carefully prepared equipment, the heroes' initial worries were greatly relieved.
