Chapter 39 Summoning the Serpent

When the group finally passed through the last mechanism and arrived at the Chamber of Secrets in Slytherin, it was as if they had crossed the curtain of time and entered an ancient and mysterious world.

Entering the secret chamber, the space was so spacious that it felt like being in a huge underground palace. The surrounding walls, eroded by time, bore the marks of countless stories.

The walls are made of ancient stones, with the marks of time etched on them. The stones are rough and uneven, dotted with moss, exuding a damp and ancient atmosphere.

The walls were covered with serpentine patterns and mysterious magical runes, which emitted an eerie light that flickered on and off, as if conveying some ancient and mysterious signal.

The ground was damp and cold, and with each step I could feel the chill on my feet, a chill that seemed to penetrate my shoes and seep into my bones.

The damp moisture condensed into water droplets, which dripped from the ceiling from time to time, making a crisp echo, like the pendulum of time, reverberating in the empty, enclosed room.

There is a forgotten, mysterious atmosphere here, making you feel as if you have left the real world and entered a corner forgotten by time.

At the far end of the Chamber of Secrets, the statue of Salazar Slytherin stands tall, like a silent guardian. Its face is dignified and austere, every line meticulously sculpted.

Many stone pillars, carved with coiled and intertwined serpents, stand tall, like guardians, supporting the ceiling that melts into the darkness above.

These stone pillars resemble giant tree trunks growing from the ground, thick and solid.

The serpentine carvings on the stone pillars are vivid and lifelike, with each scale meticulously carved, as if they might slip off the pillars at any moment and transform into real creatures.

The shadows cast by these stone pillars added an eerie green hue to the room, making the entire secret chamber appear even darker and more terrifying.

Lucius gripped his wand tightly, his fingertips turning white with tension, revealing his inner turmoil.

His voice trembled slightly as he spoke: "Where is the basilisk?"

The sound echoed faintly in the empty, enclosed room.

Umbridge was in even worse shape; her hand holding the wand trembled violently, her face was pale, and she kept swallowing.

Her eyes darted around, filled with fear; the slightest sound sent shivers down her spine.

However, Ms. Burns appeared unusually calm.

"No need to rush."

Dumbledore spoke calmly, his voice like a stabilizing force, giving people a sense of reassurance.

He then played the recording, and as Dumbledore played it, Parsley's voice echoed in the Chamber of Secrets, a voice that seemed to be a call from ancient times, full of mystery and terror.

The ground trembled slightly, and some small stones fell from the wall with a crisp sound.

Then the ground shook more and more violently, and the sound of stones falling from the walls became more and more frequent, as if the entire secret chamber was preparing for the creatures that were about to arrive.

The pebbles rolled on the ground, like the sands of an hourglass flowing by.

Salazars Slytherin's enormous statue slowly opened its mouth, revealing a deep passage.

First, a strong, fishy stench wafted out of the passage, followed by the sound of scales rubbing against the walls, growing closer and closer, sharp and piercing, sending chills down one's spine.

"Hiss~"

"Hiss~"

"They're here!"

Umbridge was so frightened that she closed her eyes tightly, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Lucius and Lady Burns turned their gaze elsewhere to avoid making eye contact with the basilisk.

However, Wes took a few steps forward and stood in front of everyone, his figure appearing particularly resolute in the dim light.

"Dumbledore??"

Ms. Burns was very surprised, and her trembling voice revealed her concern for the young wizard facing the basilisk alone.

The Basilisk is a being that even the most elite Auror troops cannot match. Does Dumbledore really intend to let this young man face it alone?

"Don't worry, Amelia, Wes can handle it."

Dumbledore's voice was calm and firm. He reached out and gently patted Mrs. Burns's shoulder, trying to soothe her nervousness.

Ms. Burns still wanted to help, her hand gripping her wand tightly, ready to act at any moment.

She was conflicted at the moment. On the one hand, she trusted Dumbledore's judgment, but on the other hand, she was worried about Wes' safety.

Just then, a huge monster crawled out of the Slytherin statue. It had a blood-red feather on its head, an emerald green body, and a massive size, like a moving mountain.

Its enormous body looked to be 15 meters tall and exuded a powerful aura, giving people an invisible sense of pressure.

Ms. Burns stopped in her tracks, cold sweat beading on her forehead, her heart pounding.

She had never seen such a huge creature before, and a strong sense of threat washed over her.

Faced with such a gigantic monster, Lucius felt the same threat as Ms. Burns. He began to doubt whether coming along was a wise choice, and had no idea what would happen next.

Umbridge turned and ran in fear, her figure in the darkness like a panicked toad.

The composed Wes took off his robe and cast an enlargement spell, making the robe enormous.

His movements were practiced and confident, as if everything was under his control.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

Then Wes pointed at the basilisk, and his robe flew towards it, binding its eyes before the basilisk could react.

"Ordinary fabric cannot block the basilisk's vision."

Dumbledore offered a friendly reminder.

"Perfect, my robes are anything but ordinary," Wes said confidently.

Before the awakened basilisk could even eat, its eyes were covered.

It rubbed its huge head against the Slytherin statue, trying to rub off or break the blindfold covering its eyes.

However, the robe showed no signs of damage whatsoever.

"See," Wes boasted, "that's how you seal the basilisk's eyes."

"Good idea," Dumbledore praised.

"Everyone, you can look at the basilisk now. Wes has sealed its eyes."

Dumbledore added a reminder: "The next step is to be careful not to get accidentally injured."

Ms. Burns and Lucius cautiously observed the basilisk out of the corner of their eyes first, and only after confirming that its eyes were indeed sealed did they feel safe to examine the terrifying creature.

"Merlin's beard, how could such a monster have slept at Hogwarts for so long without anyone noticing?"

Ms. Burns instinctively covered her mouth with her hands, her eyes wide open as if trying to imprint the scene before her. Her voice was filled with an almost overflowing surprise.

"We're here to deal with this problem, ma'am." Wes unbuttoned his cuffs and rolled up his sleeves.

"Please step back a bit." Wes gestured for the two to step back.

"Blazing Flames!" With a wave of Wes's wand, a dazzling burst of fire erupted from the tip of the wand, like a fiery red dragon tumbling in the air, heading straight for the basilisk.

The fiery dragon was incredibly lifelike, its scales shimmering in the firelight.

The basilisk felt an unprecedented threat, and its massive body began to writhe violently, as if trying to break free from the ancient curse that bound it.

Every twist and turn of it caused the floor of the secret chamber to tremble, revealing its hidden power without any attempt to conceal it.

The fire dragon struck the basilisk, and flames crackled and popped as the basilisk thrashed about. The basilisk struggled in the flames, letting out painful roars, and soon the area around it was engulfed in flames.

The temperature in the sealed room rose sharply, as if it had turned into a giant furnace.
