Chapter 40: The Time for Reaping the Rewards Has Arrived
[Terrifying power, is this all you've got? Not enough, this isn't enough.]
Lucius's gaze was fixed on Wes, his eyes filled with a complex mix of emotions.
He pondered to himself, the young man's impressive strength both delighted and unsettled him.
Ms. Burns stared in astonishment, her mouth agape. In that instant, she seemed to see a shadow of Dumbledore in Wes.
She quickly realized her lapse in composure and shut her mouth, but the shock in her heart lingered for a long time.
Umbridge, who had just run away, had somehow slipped behind Dumbledore and peeked out, nervously observing the fierce battle.
She looked at Wes with a hint of fear in her eyes. She had never imagined that Wes would be such a powerful wizard, capable of fighting against the legendary basilisk.
However, Weiss had no time to consider their thoughts at that moment.
The basilisk slowly crawled out of the sea of fire, its body completely unharmed, its scales still smooth as ever.
Wes was not surprised by this; after all, if the basilisk were so easy to deal with, it wouldn't be listed as one of the most dangerous creatures.
Although the basilisk's eyes were covered, it inherited some of the attributes of a snake, and could keenly perceive its surroundings even without relying on sight.
It knew perfectly well that the wizards in front of it were its enemies.
I haven't eaten in so long, I'm starving. Let me eat these people.
Driven by hunger and brutality, the basilisk hissed and charged swiftly toward Wes.
It was incredibly fast; its massive body resembled a moving mountain, stirring up a gust of wind.
Wes immediately waved his wand, and with his incantation, the serpentine carvings wrapped around the ancient pillars seemed to come alive, falling off and transforming into lifelike snakes.
They twisted their bodies, and under Wes's command, the swarm of snakes charged towards the basilisk like a surging tide.
Although these carved snakes were not as large as the basilisk, they moved with agility, just like a real swarm of snakes. Under Wes's control, they formed waves of attacks, attempting to stop the basilisk's advance.
However, the size difference between the two was too great, and the basilisk charged ahead, effortlessly knocking the snakes away.
Each impact caused the ground to tremble slightly, demonstrating its unparalleled power.
The basilisk charged forward menacingly, about to reach Wes.
Wes calmly tapped his wand, as if the water of an entire lake had been summoned.
A surging, violent current appeared instantly, sweeping the basilisk away.
The water flowed swiftly, making a tremendous noise, crashing against the serpent monster like a waterfall.
The basilisk continued to move toward Wes in the raging torrent, struggling desperately to break free from the current's grasp.
But Wes had extremely strong control over his magic; he brought the wand to his lips and gently exhaled.
"Phew~~"
With that breath, a chill swept through the entire chamber, the temperature plummeted, and the basilisk was frozen into an ice sculpture.
The summoned water was frozen, forming a giant ice pillar that trapped the basilisk inside.
The entire secret room seemed to have transformed into an icy world, with a chilling atmosphere that sent shivers down one's spine.
The three were stunned by Wes's magical prowess.
Lucius was more overjoyed than anything else. He thought to himself, "With this kind of strength, plus Dumbledore, even the Dark Lord at his peak wouldn't be a match for them."
A hint of admiration flashed in Ms. Burns' eyes. She realized that Wes was not just a young wizard; his strength and wisdom had surpassed his age.
Umbridge was more wary than anything else; she knew that if such a powerful wizard became her enemy, it would bring enormous trouble.
Seeing the basilisk frozen in place, the group breathed a sigh of relief, thinking the crisis was over.
"Hoo~" Umbridge exhaled a breath onto her hands, then rubbed them together, trying to warm them up. "Looks like the basilisk isn't so bad after all..."
"Shut up." Wes's voice, though soft, carried an undeniable authority as he interrupted Umbridge.
"What?" Umbridge doubted her ears for a moment. As a high-ranking official in the Ministry of Magic, when had she ever been treated like this?
"I said shut up." Wes gave Umbridge a cold stare.
Umbridge sensed the chill in Weiss's tone and involuntarily took a few steps back.
Just then, the basilisk's ice sculpture began to tremble, and the ice blocks cracked with a series of snapping sounds. The basilisk was still alive; its tenacious vitality was astonishing.
"Looks like we'll have to be a bit rougher."
Wes shifted his gaze to the Slytherin statue, a wicked grin spreading across his face. "Let your master deal with you."
His wand traced mysterious trajectories in the air, magic surging as if weaving an invisible net.
The ground began to tremble, stones fell one after another, and some stone pillars, unable to bear the weight, collapsed with a crash.
To the astonishment of the four, the Slytherin statue came to life.
The enormous statue seemed to have been brought to life.
"Oh, how come I didn't think of that?" Dumbledore slapped his forehead in frustration. "Young people always have ideas."
"The noise is too loud, what if this place collapses?" Ms. Burns looked worriedly at the stones falling from the ceiling of the secret chamber.
"Don't worry." Dumbledore raised his right hand and cast a healing spell.
A soft light enveloped the secret chamber, and the fallen stones seemed to be held up by an invisible force, slowly returning to their original positions.
Seeing Dumbledore make his move, Wes went all out.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
The basilisk had just broken free from the icy restraints and hadn't even had time to react when it was firmly grasped by a pair of large hands made of magic.
Wes's wand drew commands in the air, and the statue seemed to come alive, swinging the basilisk up and slamming it hard into the ground.
The hard ground was smashed into a deep crater, and dust flew up.
The basilisk shook its head, still reeling from the sudden attack.
Wes could even see a hint of confusion on its face.
"Let me show you what I'm made of." Under Wes's control, the statue swung the basilisk around and slammed it to the ground again and again.
Front, back, left, right.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Too brutal," Dumbledore murmured. "Absolutely too brutal."
The other three stared wide-eyed as one of the most powerful beings in the magical world was tossed around like a rag doll.
Finally, the basilisk lay limp on the ground like a noodle, motionless.
Wes stopped the spell, the statue released its grip, and the basilisk fell heavily to the ground.
Wes used a spell to determine that the basilisk showed no signs of life. He turned to Dumbledore and said, "It's done. The rest is up to you."
His tone was calm, as if he had done something trivial.
Dumbledore nodded slightly, and he led Lucius and the other two slowly out of the secret chamber.
Lucius's face showed a complex expression, a mixture of excitement and worry.
Umbridge looked at Wes with fear in his eyes.
In her eyes, Wes was an extremely dangerous person. She keenly sensed that Wes had no respect for the Ministry of Magic and wished she could get as far away from him as possible.
After everyone left, Wes slightly raised the corners of his mouth, and he gently snapped his fingers, the crisp sound echoing in the silent chamber.
Jandi, who had been hiding in the shadows, immediately appeared, dragging his suitcase.
"Now it's harvest time."
Wes's voice carried a hint of excitement and anticipation.
Tools floated out of the suitcase: a saw, a hammer, and even a scalpel.
The tools gleamed with a cold light in the dim light.
