Chapter 396 Consequences

Destroying Washington state could indeed cripple the US government, severely damaging it in a short period and plunging it into chaos in various aspects, including the economy and people's livelihoods.

However, Weiss knew that doing so might actually unleash America's hidden potential. Just as a spring compressed to its limit would release a stronger rebound force, the United States might quickly rally its forces and unite against external threats during a crisis, which would not be what he expected.

This approach, like cutting flesh with a dull knife, is slowly but steadily drawing the United States into a vortex from which it cannot extricate itself.

The price the United States will have to pay for this is incalculable. Social order has been disrupted, public security has deteriorated, people live in fear, and conflicts between various parties are constantly escalating.

Those who awaken superpowers come from different social classes, have different backgrounds and demands. Once they unite and realize the immense power they possess, they might actually break away from the United States and build their own country.

By then, the situation in the United States and even the world will become more complex, with various conflicts of interest and power struggles taking place one after another, and that will be quite a show.

After all, the United States is a multi-ethnic and diverse country, and internal conflicts are inevitable. Friction and conflict often arise between different races and social classes over issues such as resource allocation and rights protection.

The emergence of these awakened individuals is like adding fuel to the fire, perhaps the last straw that breaks the camel's back, enough to make the seemingly solid edifice of the United States teeter on the brink of collapse.

As for Weiss, he could both create trouble for the United States and watch this good show unfold on the sidelines. Why not?

Putting aside the complex situation behind this, even for someone as intelligent as Tony, solving the current thorny issue of superpowered individuals is virtually impossible.

The human heart is inherently complex and ever-changing. Those who awaken have their own thoughts and desires; some may yearn to use power to protect themselves and pursue freedom.

Some might be blinded by power and try to use it to gain more benefits and power.

Managing such a large group of people is no easy task.

The US government had a hunch that Weiss was most likely behind the incident, but they couldn't find any trace of him.

Even if they were lucky enough to find Wes, given the conflict between Wes and them, it's impossible for Wes to help them solve this mess.

Left with no other option, they placed their hopes on Tony, expecting this man of extraordinary intelligence to create a miracle.

"I need time."

Tony frowned and said with a serious expression. He did not refuse, after all, he could not bear to sit idly by when faced with such a major event that concerned the stability of the entire country and even the world. However, he knew that the difficulty was extremely high and that he needed to carefully sort out his thoughts and find possible solutions.

"Of course, but please do it as soon as possible." Upon hearing Tony's reply, the Secretary of State immediately felt relieved, and the worry on his face eased slightly. "We are under a lot of pressure right now."

As he spoke, he wiped the fine beads of sweat from his forehead; the ordeal he had endured over the past few days had left him utterly exhausted.

Tony almost blurted out a curse, inwardly thinking:

You're under a lot of pressure? Isn't all of this your own doing?

If we hadn't provoked Wes and had behaved properly, none of this would have happened!

However, he managed to suppress his anger and control his temper, because now was not the time to vent his emotions; the most urgent task was to find a way to deal with the crisis at hand.

Returning our attention to Wes, he was currently in that place filled with mysterious technology, discussing vibranium with Vegapunk.

"You want vibranium?" Wes looked at Vegapunk with a hint of inquiry in his eyes.

Vegapunk nodded repeatedly, his eyes gleaming with barely suppressed excitement, and said impatiently, "This material is amazing! Whether it's energy transmission, the creation of high-strength equipment, or many other scientific research applications, it has unparalleled advantages."

He went on and on about all the advantages of vibranium, looking like a child who had seen a precious toy he had always dreamed of.

As a scientist obsessed with scientific research, he would certainly not let such a perfect material go to waste, thinking that if he could apply it to his research, he would surely achieve many groundbreaking results.

"I know it's expensive, but I only need a little bit."

Vegapunk rubbed his hands together. Although he said he only needed a little, his eyes still revealed a hint of longing to get more.

Is vibranium precious?

That's without a doubt. Each gram costs as much as $1, an exorbitant price that puts it out of reach for most people, making it one of the world's rarest and most precious materials.

But Weiss knew that there was a place with a large amount of vibranium, and that place was Wakanda in Africa.

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

From the outside, Wakanda appears to be an extremely backward country. Its people seem to still be living in an agrarian society, leading a traditional and simple life. The country's industrial level is almost non-existent; it cannot even produce a pencil, seemingly out of step with modern civilization.

However, all of this is just an illusion.

The real Wakanda is actually a technologically advanced country. They possess many advanced technologies that are beyond the comprehension of the outside world. According to them, they are far ahead of the rest of the world.

To avoid causing unease among nations worldwide due to their advanced technology, and thus triggering unnecessary conflicts and troubles, they chose to conceal themselves for the sake of world peace, disguising themselves as a backward country and silently protecting their technological achievements and vibranium resources.

Wes didn't know how to evaluate this behavior, and wondered to himself, "Is this arrogance?"

They feel superior and disdain communicating with the outside world, which is why they hide themselves away.

Or is this a form of selfishness?

Possessing such advanced technology and precious resources, yet unwilling to share them with the world, they only seek to protect themselves and keep their country in a state of isolated security.

Regardless, this was Wakanda's own choice, and now, the existence of vibranium has piqued Wes's interest. It remains to be seen what his next plans will be.
