Chapter 541 Destiny
Chapter 541 Destiny
"You bastard."
Mephisto stared wide-eyed at Wes.
Mephisto was surprised to find that the Wes who had been following him was just an avatar; his real body had not followed him into the perilous Paradise Mountain. This made Mephisto feel like he had been fooled.
Same to you.
Wes gave him a look.
"I meant no harm."
Jesus' voice was calm and steady, yet his words failed to win the trust of the two men.
After all, David was lured to Heaven by them and caused such great trouble to Heaven. In their eyes, how could Jesus be so magnanimous as to let them off so easily?
Both men were filled with doubt and felt that Jesus' words were unreliable.
Jesus seemed to have no intention of explaining anything, simply saying "Follow me" before turning around and walking forward with a calm gait.
Wes and Mephisto exchanged a glance, and from each other's eyes, they understood the same thought:
Since they are all clones now, even if they encounter danger, it won't endanger their original bodies. So why not follow Jesus to find out what he's up to?
So they followed.
Along the way, Weiss felt as if he had entered a completely new world, which broadened his horizons.
He saw the legendary Garden of Eden, a pure land full of life and peace.
Various exotic flowers and plants swayed gently in the breeze, blooming in competition and emitting a series of enchanting fragrances, as if telling the story of the beauty of paradise.
And there is the Tree of Life, a symbol of life, tall and straight, with lush branches and leaves, laden with fruits that shimmer with a mysterious light, each fruit containing boundless vitality and mysterious power.
In addition, various rare treasures and artifacts, which have only been heard of in mythology, are displayed around the area. They quietly exude a powerful aura, and each one shows an extraordinary status and power, making people feel the mystery and grandeur of heaven.
However, all this beauty aroused deep doubts in Wes's heart.
Since David began his war with the Heavenly army, Heaven has possessed so many rare treasures and powerful artifacts, so why hasn't it used a single one?
Instead, they keep using the lives of angels to fill the battlefield, which is really hard to understand.
What are the underlying reasons for this?
What is Heaven's purpose in doing this?
Wes fell into deep thought, trying to find the answer in his knowledge of heaven, but he couldn't find a clue.
Mephisto, standing to the side, also had a furrowed brow.
[Unless everything that happens today is within Heaven's expectations.]
This idea kept swirling in Wes's mind.
In his view, only this possibility could reasonably explain why Heaven, with its many powerful artifacts, would leave the angels to die meaninglessly.
Those artifacts, any one of them could change the course of the battlefield, yet Heaven chose to sacrifice the lives of its angels. There must be some unknown reason behind this.
Just as he was lost in thought, Jesus’ next words confirmed his suspicions.
"Since the Ancient One became the Sorcerer Supreme, we have been banished from Earth."
Jesus spoke slowly, his voice calm and deep, as if it came from the depths of time.
This is undoubtedly a dark chapter in Heaven's history that they would rather forget, a wound in their hearts that is difficult to heal.
However, Jesus spoke without the slightest emotional fluctuation, as if he were recounting an ordinary, mundane matter.
"Besides Earth, Heaven has other believers in the universe and in other dimensions," Jesus continued, his voice unhurried, "but Earth is the most special one."
He paused slightly, a hint of nostalgia and longing in his eyes, as if recalling the glorious days on Earth, the glory of heaven, and their eternal yearning.
Heaven has been secretly searching for an opportunity to return to Earth, the place where they once had countless devout believers and were revered as a holy land.
Unfortunately, all their efforts and attempts to reach Earth were thwarted one by one by the powerful Ancient One, the Sorcerer Supreme.
Hearing this, Mephisto felt a strong resonance in his heart.
In this respect, Hell and Heaven share a similar fate; both attempted to seize Earth, only to be ruthlessly thwarted by the Ancient One.
Therefore, they hated Gu Yidu to the core.
"Heh heh heh," Mephisto let out a mocking laugh, filled with disdain and ridicule. "What, is Heaven going to join forces with Hell?"
Jesus gently shook his head, denying Mephistopheles's conjecture. His movement was soft yet firm, as if to indicate that Heaven had its own plans.
"After being driven away, we knew what would happen today."
Jesus' words struck Wes and Mephisto like a heavy hammer blow.
The two of them stopped in their tracks, their faces showing disbelief.
They never imagined that Heaven had foreseen David's invasion and everything that was happening today.
"Huff~"
"Huff~"
Mephisto's chest heaved violently, each breath carrying immense force, white mist billowing from his mouth as if his inner rage had materialized and was gushing forth from his nose and mouth.
He glared at Jesus with his eyes wide with rage, his eyeballs seemingly about to pop out of their sockets, his gaze burning with fierce intensity.
"You mean everything is under your control!"
Mephisto practically spat out those words through gritted teeth.
Jesus' words were undoubtedly telling him that all the plans and efforts he and Weiss had made were in vain, carried out under the watchful eye of Heaven.
This made Mephisto feel like a puppet being manipulated at will, a ridiculous clown, being played with by Heaven.
He has always been the one who controls the fate of others, manipulating events in hell and making countless souls tremble under his will. When did it become someone else's turn to dictate his actions?
Even if the other party is God, the supreme being of Heaven, Mephisto could never tolerate the humiliation of being manipulated at will.
"You actually watched us orchestrate all of this and did nothing?"
Mephisto continued his questioning, his facial muscles twitching slightly with anger, his expression twisted into a somewhat ferocious grimace.
"What exactly is your purpose?"
Jesus looked at Mephisto quietly, his eyes as calm as a deep lake, without the slightest ripple.
"Everything is arranged by fate."
