Chapter 58 The New Werewolf Professor
Chapter 58 The New Werewolf Professor
Wes and the newly arrived Professor Lupin quickly united, waiting for the Dementors to make their move, since as professors at Hogwarts, they couldn't be the first to strike.
Just as the two sides were locked in a standoff, several Aurors approached. They had serious expressions, wore neat uniforms, and had their wands tucked neatly into their waistbands.
The Aurors' duty is to oversee the Dementors, ensuring they don't abuse their power while carrying out their missions. Whenever a Dementor clashes with other beings, the Aurors intervene to mediate and maintain order and balance.
The Aurors were not surprised to hear that the two Hogwarts professors were trying their best to prevent the Dementors from entering the train for inspection.
They were all graduates of Hogwarts and had deep feelings for their alma mater. They didn't approve of the Dementors' search train's actions, but due to orders from their superiors and their duties, they couldn't openly oppose it.
Now, seeing the two Hogwarts professors step forward to stop the Dementors' behavior, they naturally stood on the school's side without hesitation.
However, the Dementors were determined to search the train.
Despite the Aurors' repeated attempts to dissuade them, the Dementors ignored them and were about to force their way onto the train.
Wes didn't want to waste words with these monsters, and thick, silvery-white mist immediately emerged from his wand. The mist churned and surged, constantly changing shape.
To everyone's astonishment, the thick fog gradually coalesced, finally transforming into a majestic eagle. The eagle spread its wings, and a high-pitched cry pierced the sky, carrying boundless majesty and power.
The eagle crashed straight into the Dementor, which, sensing the power of the guardian spirit, scattered and fled, quickly disappearing from sight.
"Alright, the matter is resolved." Wes put away his wand and calmly reassured the crew in the cockpit and the onlookers.
The Aurors looked at each other, unsure of what to do, none of them wanting to offend the professor because of the Dementors.
They exchanged a glance, then made a tacit decision to let them pass.
"Professor Lupin, the rest is up to you." Wes said, then vanished in a flash using Apparition.
After Wes left, the students erupted in excitement. They discussed it animatedly, speculating about what kind of magic Wes had used to repel the evil Dementors.
That magical scene was deeply imprinted in their minds, becoming their first legendary story of the new semester.
After making sure the Dementors wouldn't dare return, Wes went back to Hogwarts. He walked through the familiar corridors, entered the Great Hall, found his seat, and quietly waited for the opening ceremony to begin.
When Dumbledore saw Wes return, he immediately came over and whispered, "Well done. I'll handle things with the Ministry of Magic; you don't need to worry."
Wes raised his chin slightly, appearing nonchalant: "I've never been worried about the Ministry of Magic."
The opening ceremony was about to begin, and he straightened his clothes again to make sure he looked presentable.
"Headmaster, you should be firmer, otherwise the Ministry of Magic will take advantage of you."
Dumbledore sighed softly and said, "Fudge is too timid. If I take a hard line, he'll think I'm trying to usurp his position and might do something irrational."
Weiss scoffed, "What a stupid, selfish politician."
Weiss never thought highly of these politicians' integrity; in his view, politicians often disregard the bigger picture for their own interests.
After exchanging a few words, the students entered the auditorium one after another, and the auditorium became lively and bustling with the chatter of the students.
The students talked about what had happened on the train that day, glancing occasionally at Wes on the professor's bench.
The professors had all arrived, looking at the students with either seriousness or kindness, quietly waiting for the ceremony to begin. Occasionally, some professors would whisper among themselves.
Once everyone had arrived, the annual opening ceremony officially began.
Dumbledore, the headmaster, stood solemnly on the podium. He specifically instructed the students that Dementors would be patrolling the vicinity of the school and to be careful not to do anything that might cause misunderstandings.
"Dementors truly don't know what an excuse is. They are ruthless, dark creatures that act solely on their instincts and the tasks assigned to them by the Ministry of Magic."
"But Professor Erwin fought off those monsters today, and he summoned a beautiful eagle. What kind of magic is that?"
Although Fred was somewhat frightened by Dumbledore's description of the Dementors, he still bravely expressed his opinion.
The students began to murmur amongst themselves, and the entire auditorium was in an uproar. The professors exchanged glances, admiring Weiss's actions.
As the person involved, Wes was the most composed. He sat there quietly, showing no sign of pride despite the approving glances from the students and professors. He only occasionally looked up at Dumbledore, waiting for the opening ceremony to continue.
"Quiet!" Dumbledore amplified his voice with magic, drowning out all other sounds. The students even had to cover their ears, and the Great Hall fell silent instantly.
Dumbledore surveyed the room and continued, "The Patronus Charm is a highly complex spell, difficult even for adult wizards to master..."
He explained in detail the importance and difficulty of the Patronus Charm, and finally warned the students to be careful of Dementors.
After the opening ceremony, Dumbledore invited Wess and Lupin to the headmaster's office.
Lupin seemed a little nervous, and he glanced at Wes beside him, because he knew exactly why Dumbledore had called him to his office.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
"Principal, I don't think this is a good idea." Lupin was fidgeting and kept rubbing his dry hands.
"Lupin, Wes is trustworthy," Dumbledore reassured him. "Besides, you wouldn't want Severus involved, would you?"
Upon hearing Snape's name, Lupin lowered his head in shame. "We were indeed very wrong back then, and I don't expect him to forgive us."
At this point, Wes had already guessed Dumbledore's purpose.
"Wes, I hope you can help brew the wolfsbane potion. I know your potion-making skills are excellent." Dumbledore made a new request to Wes.
"Wolfsbane Potion can help werewolves maintain their sanity on the night of the full moon and suppress their transformation, thus preventing them from losing their minds and attacking others when they transform."
The new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor is a werewolf, and wolfsbane is of paramount importance to him.
"Okay." Wes agreed readily this time, and his calm reaction surprised Lupin and Dumbledore.
Lupin has always suffered discrimination because of his werewolf identity. In the magical world, werewolves are seen by many as evil and dangerous beings, and although Lupin tries to control his werewolf nature, prejudice always follows him.
He excelled academically in school and thought that with his talent and hard work, he would be able to find a suitable job after graduation and start a new chapter in his life.
However, reality was incredibly cruel. He faced setbacks everywhere and could never find a job, so he could only live a life of wandering.
Previously, with the support of his two close friends, Sirius Black and James Potter, Lupin lived a comfortable life. However, after Sirius was accused of betraying them and the Potters tragically died, Lupin's world collapsed.
He was plunged into deep pain and confusion. The betrayal and departure of his best friend dealt him a heavy blow, and he was unable to recover from this immense grief for a long time.
He wandered alone in the darkness for a long time until this year, when he risked his life to become a Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, with only one unwavering belief in his heart: to protect Harry.
Harry is his best friend's child, and he cannot let Harry repeat the mistakes of the Potters.
He secretly vowed, "Sirius, this time I will definitely stop you!"
