Chapter 59 Substitute Teacher

The new semester has begun, and the students are surprised to find that Lupin, the newly appointed Defense Against the Dark Arts professor, is unexpectedly reliable.

Whenever Professor Lupin entered the classroom, his arrival was always met with a warm welcome.

In class, Professor Lupin always explains complex defense against the Dark Arts in a simple and easy-to-understand way, making it easy for students to understand and master.

Whether explaining obscure theoretical knowledge or guiding students in practical exercises, he always does it exceptionally well.

This led many students to remark that, for the first time since Professor Lupin took over, they felt that Defense Against the Dark Arts was not only important but also interesting.

The students generally considered Professor Lupin to be the best Defense Against the Dark Arts professor in recent years. Students from all three houses, except Slytherin, adored the new professor.

During the time he taught, Professor Lu Ping's quality of life was also very different from before, and his complexion was much better.

In the past, he often faced hunger and loneliness, but at Hogwarts, he no longer had to endure days of going hungry.

The school not only provided ample food, but also the students' affection and the care from his colleagues, all of which revitalized his spirits.

On this day, which happened to be a full moon, Lupin received a bottle of wolfsbane potion from Wess and then disappeared in a hurry.

Before leaving, he asked Weiss to cover his classes.

Weiss wanted to refuse, but Lupin was walking too fast for him to catch up.

"Actually, you could ask Headmaster Snape; I think he'd be happy to cover your classes."

Wes called out in the direction Lupin had gone, but unfortunately, Lupin had already disappeared.

Wes reluctantly arrived at the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, a class that happened to be for third-year students.

When the students saw Wes, they thought he had gone to the wrong classroom.

"Professor Erwin, this is not the classroom for the Rune Class," a blonde, blue-eyed girl politely reminded her.

Weiss smiled slightly and explained, "Oh, I know. Professor Lupin isn't feeling well, so he asked me to cover a class."

"What's wrong with Professor Lupin?"

Since Professor Lupin arrived, he has been taking special care of Harry, not only providing extra help in class but also privately teaching him many practical defensive techniques, which makes Harry feel particularly grateful to Lupin.

"Don't worry, it's just a small problem." Wes glanced at the noisy classroom, where students were still whispering, and raised his voice, "Quiet, students, please be quiet. Can anyone tell me where you left off in the last lesson?"

Hermione immediately raised her hand. "Professor Lupin's last lecture was about how to deal with Red Hats."

Weiss flipped through his textbook, then closed it, deciding to do his own thing.

"So, ladies and gentlemen, what kind of creature are you most afraid of encountering in the wild?"

Ron blurted out, "Dementors! My mom says they're the most evil creatures that suck people's souls away."

"Werewolves," Hermione said with absolute certainty, "If you get bitten by a werewolf, you'll be transformed into a new werewolf."

"vampire."

"I think it's a mummy."

"."

The students' answers were varied.

Looking at the group of imaginative children, Wes smiled and said, "You're all right."

The students were somewhat disappointed, feeling that Wes was just giving them the runaround.

"However, in my experience, the most dangerous ones are probably wizards."

The classroom fell silent immediately after he said that, as the students didn't quite understand Weiss's answer.

Wes continued, "Because you never know if the wizard you encounter is a dark wizard." The atmosphere in the class became tense at the mention of dark wizards, and some students even unconsciously shrank back. When they were young, their parents would use the evil rumors of dark wizards to scare them if they misbehaved.

The students' reactions made Wes realize that he might have exaggerated a bit.

So he quickly reassured them, "Don't worry, children. You are now in Hogwarts, one of the safest places in the world. You won't encounter any dark wizards."

"But there are Dementors outside the school," a Ravenclaw girl complained, frowning. "I can't go to Hogsmeade this semester, and I've been looking forward to it for so long."

"That's right, my mom won't sign it either, and she wants me to stay at school obediently," another student muttered.

"Me too..." More students joined in the complaints, and the classroom was filled with sounds of disappointment.

The topic had veered off course without the students noticing, and their attention was now focused on the Dementors.

At this moment, a student mustered up his courage and asked, "Professor, could you teach us the magic to repel the Dementors?"

"That's right!" another student added excitedly, "That move was so cool!"

Wes smiled and patiently explained, "That's an extremely difficult spell. Many adult wizards haven't fully mastered it. It's far too difficult for you."

Hearing this, the students all hung their heads in dejection. In order to divert their attention, Weiss decided to change the teaching plan.

"In this lesson, we'll have a practical exercise," he said, waving his wand lightly. The desks and chairs in the classroom moved automatically, clearing a large open space in the middle.

"Pair up into groups of two, quickly find your partners."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

This interesting event immediately attracted the students' attention, and they quickly took action, soon finding their partners.

"You've all learned the Disarming Charm, right?" Wes asked.

"Yes," the students answered in unison.

"Does anyone have experience casting this spell?" Wes looked around, but not a single student raised their hand. "Not a single one?"

The students lowered their heads in shame, not daring to meet Wes's gaze.

"This isn't your fault. The professors who taught this course two years ago..." At this point, Weiss didn't know how to comment on the two professors.

"None of that matters." Wes clapped his hands. "I need an assistant now. Who's willing?"

Upon hearing this, the children all raised their hands, with Draco raising his hand the highest and fastest.

"You're the one, Mr. Malfoy."

Draco stood up proudly, like a victorious general.

"Are you ready?" Wes asked seriously, holding up his wand.

"I'm ready."

"Disarm me!" Wes cast a disarming spell while Draco wasn't looking, and Draco's wand was instantly knocked away.

Draco was caught off guard and could only stand aside, pouting in frustration, his eyes full of resentment.

"This is the first point I want to teach you: strike first," Wes said slowly. "When you encounter an unidentified wizard, regardless of whether they have malicious intent, the first thing to do is to incapacitate them. The Disarming Charm is a very useful spell; most wizards cannot cast spells without their wands."

Draco silently picked up his wand.

"Now you attack me," Wes said, looking at Draco.

Draco, seething with anger, managed to cast a disarming spell on Wes, but Wes easily dodged it.

"Secondly, your opponent isn't made of wood," Wes said earnestly. "They will dodge and counterattack. You must always be vigilant in battle and not treat your opponent as a stationary target."

"Mr. Malfoy's successful use of the Disarming Charm is excellent; Slytherin adds five points."

The Slytherin students high-fived in celebration.

Draco was the only one who was unhappy; he felt he had performed terribly and was practically a clown.

We've entered the second round of recommendations, and we wouldn't have been able to do this without everyone's support and votes. Thank you!
