Chapter 60 Tom and Jerry
Chapter 60 Tom and Jerry
This was the first time Harry and his classmates had practiced a two-person team battle, and everyone was eager to demonstrate their magical abilities in class and experience the thrill of combat.
However, only a few students, including Harry, Hermione, and Draco, were able to successfully cast the Disarming Charm; the other students' performances were quite unpredictable.
Some students accidentally mispronounced spells, turning their classmates' hair red; others were so nervous while casting spells that the magic went out of control, almost causing minor accidents.
In conclusion, the class was full of surprises and unexpected moments, and the students gained many valuable experiences amidst laughter and joy.
This interesting practical lesson ended quickly, and Wes instructed the third-year students to practice the Disarming Charm diligently, hoping to surprise Professor Lupin in the next class.
Although the students were still reluctant to leave, as soon as get out of class ended, Wes disappeared like a gust of wind.
In addition to the third-year students, the fifth-year students also had a Defense Against the Dark Arts class today. Wes didn't want to disrupt Professor Lupin's teaching schedule, so he also arranged for the fifth-year students to practice sparring.
Compared to the third-grade students, the fifth-grade students surprised Wes quite a bit. Many students had a remarkably good grasp of spells, and their performances showed that they must have undergone rigorous training.
The most outstanding among them was Cedric Diggory, the prefect of Badgerhouse.
Weiss noticed that Cedric was very popular, not only among the students of Badger House, but also among his classmates from other houses who showed him great trust.
In this class, Cedric volunteered to act as a teaching assistant, helping Wes organize the students for practice sessions, and Wes was very impressed with him.
Cedric was tall and handsome with well-defined features. His jet-black hair and bright gray eyes made him stand out in the crowd.
Many girls admired him, and he was fair and humble, treating every student who came to him for advice the same way, never holding back because the student was from another college.
Not only is he outstanding in appearance and academics, but Cedric is also excellent in sports, making him seem like a protagonist from a novel.
If Wes hadn't known that Harry was the main character, he almost would have mistaken Cedric for the protagonist.
However, this handsome young man's ending in the original work was indeed too tragic.
"Cedric," Wes said approvingly, "you'd be very well-suited to be a professor."
Cedric responded modestly, "I have a long way to go, Professor."
“I’m telling the truth,” Wes patted Cedric on the shoulder. “Think about it carefully.”
After saying that, Weiss left the classroom.
Cedric watched Wes's retreating figure and fell into deep thought.
The next day, Professor Lu Ping's condition returned to normal, although he didn't look well, but he still insisted on teaching his students.
Wes breathed a sigh of relief upon seeing this. He had originally planned to ask Professor Snape to help him with the class, but Dumbledore refused his offer.
"The students really enjoyed your combat lessons, and you didn't disrupt Lupin's teaching schedule. You worked together very well."
"Severus has to take charge of Potions class and handle Slytherin Headmaster's affairs, so he really doesn't have the time."
Hearing Dumbledore say this, Wes felt that he was quite capable of taking on the teaching job, so he nodded in agreement.
As time went on, the students gradually got used to Professor Lupin's occasional monthly bout of illness. At the same time, they thoroughly enjoyed Professor Wes's combat lessons.
And so, Defense Against the Dark Arts quickly became one of the most popular courses among students.
After class that day, Weiss was preparing to return to his office to handle some unfinished teaching matters.
However, at that moment, a noisy sound suddenly came from the other end of the corridor.
"Meow~ Meow~" "Meow~" The sharp meows broke the silence of the corridor.
A large, ginger-yellow cat nimbly weaved through the crowd, its movements incredibly agile, its figure as swift as lightning.
The cat's eyes were fixed on what was ahead, as if it were chasing something extremely important.
"Spotty, run!" Ron shouted anxiously as he tried to stop the big cat, but he was always clumsy and in his panic he fell flat on his back.
Ron was almost in tears: "You stupid cat, Spotty, run!"
Hearing the commotion, Wes quickly went over and helped Ron up from the ground.
"What happened?" Wes asked, frowning. He had thought some student had been attacked by a Dementor.
"Professor, please save Scabbers!!" Ron grabbed Wes's sleeve urgently, his voice trembling with tears.
"Who?"
"My pet mouse, Spotty, is about to be eaten by that stupid cat," Ron said, looking worriedly in the direction the big cat was chasing.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
"Crooked Mountain isn't some stupid cat, it's smart!" Just then, Hermione arrived, panting, her cheeks slightly flushed from running, her words full of defense of Crooked Mountain.
"It's all your fault for having such a stupid cat! Couldn't you have kept an eye on it?" Ron glared at Hermione.
"Crooked Hill is a cat, catching mice is in its nature," Hermione retorted without backing down.
The two started arguing in the hallway, neither willing to back down.
"So what exactly happened?" Wes looked helplessly at the two arguing, then turned to look at Harry, who was also left standing to the side.
"Here's what happened," Harry said, adjusting his glasses, which had become askew from running so hard, and began to recount what had happened.
Crookshanks is Hermione's pet, but for some reason, it has a great interest in Ron's pet mouse Scabbers and thinks about how to catch Scabbers every day.
Crookshanks' disdain for the other rats caused a major conflict between Ron and Hermione.
The two pets fought fiercely because of this, and Hermione and Ron argued about it every day.
Harry was caught in the middle of his two friends, which put him in a very difficult position.
Wes finally understood what had happened.
He knew in his heart that Scabbers was no ordinary mouse at all, but a person—Peter Pettigrew, the traitor who had truly betrayed the Potters.
Crookshank must have received Sirius's request to capture Scabbers, and Wes looked at Ron with a hint of sympathy.
If Ron knew that his beloved pet was a short, thin, balding, and greasy middle-aged man, and that he slept in his bed with him every day, he probably would throw up his dinner from the night before.
Ron, you are a true warrior; you will surely face the bleakness of life.
Wes sighed inwardly. He knew this matter needed a solution sooner or later. He couldn't let Ron remain in the dark, nor could he let Peter Pettigrew continue his pretense. But now wasn't the time to reveal the truth; he had to wait for the right opportunity.
Wes decided to first calm Ron and Hermione down so they would stop arguing, and then figure out how to deal with this thorny issue.
