The Witcher: The Journey to Transcendence from Marvel...
Chapter 8, Lesson 1
Chapter 8, Lesson 1
The next morning, soft sunlight streamed through the window into Wes's office.
At this moment, he was staring intently at the timetable in his hand, his face showing extreme satisfaction.
As expected, just as he had predicted, the Magic Rune course was undoubtedly an extremely unpopular course.
Fewer than 30 students chose this course, and it was only offered three times a week.
Wes clapped his hands and legs excitedly, shouting, "That's awesome!"
However, despite this, Weiss did not intend to treat this hard-won job casually.
Although he didn't prepare a large stack of lesson plans like other professors, he still decided to prepare his first class well. After all, it was his first class at Hogwarts, and he didn't want to receive a lot of complaints right from the start, ultimately ending up being expelled from Hogwarts.
"The first class is scheduled for 3 p.m., so I have to do my best to prepare carefully."
Before we knew it, it was afternoon.
When Weiss walked briskly into the classroom, he was pleasantly surprised to find the students already sitting neatly in their seats.
To Wes's surprise, Hermione, a first-year student who had just entered the magical world, also chose to take the spellcasting class.
He calmly picked up a piece of chalk and wrote his name on the blackboard with vigorous strokes—"Wes Irwin".
"First of all, I would like to sincerely thank you all for choosing the Magic Rune course."
"Next, please introduce yourselves in turn. After all, there aren't many of us, and I'm confident that I can remember everyone's names."
As soon as he finished speaking, a burst of light laughter came from the audience.
One by one, the students began to introduce themselves in an orderly manner.
When it was Hermione's turn, all eyes were on her.
After all, the other students present were all in fifth grade or above, and they already had a certain foundation in magic and some understanding of magic runes.
Hermione, a freshman from a Muggle family, choosing such an obscure and challenging course was truly unexpected by everyone.
She was like a proud and confident peacock, her bright eyes fixed on Wes the entire time she introduced herself.
After the self-introductions, Weiss began the formal lecture.
"Magic runes are an ancient and mysterious existence." His voice echoed in the classroom, and all the students quickly opened their books, focused their attention, and took notes seriously.
During the lesson, Weiss cleverly interspersed his own adventure stories with exclamations of surprise from the students.
"In general, the application of magic runes is extremely wide-ranging. Whether it is setting traps, enhancing defenses, issuing warnings, or in advanced alchemy, the ingenious use of magic runes is indispensable."
"If you have any questions during the learning process, please feel free to ask them at any time."
As soon as he finished speaking, everyone eagerly raised their hands in unison.
"Oh, this is completely unexpected."
Wes glanced at the clock on the wall and said, "Luckily, we have plenty of time, so let's each take one question."
Wes casually pointed to the boy in the first row on his left and said, "Mr. Wesley, let's start with you."
Wesley stood up quickly upon hearing the sound.
"Please sit down, Mr. Wesley, let's all relax a bit," Wes said with a smile, leaning back casually on the podium.
Wesley shrugged and obediently sat back down in his chair.
"Professor, were all those adventures you described true?"
"Of course." Wes nodded without hesitation.
Another wave of gasps erupted in the classroom.
Wesley wanted to press for more information, but Wes decisively stopped him.
"One question each, Mr. Wesley."
Wesley reluctantly shut his mouth.
The girl behind him asked impatiently, "Professor, did you find any precious treasure during your adventures?"
Everyone pricked up their ears, eagerly awaiting the answer.
Weiss stood up, turned gracefully around, and said, "A professor's meager salary can't afford this magnificent robe I'm wearing."
Wes's thoughts instantly drifted back to those difficult years of exploring the maze.
"I must solemnly warn you, that is an extremely dangerous thing," he said, looking worriedly at the group of curious young wizards before him, deliberately trying to scare them, "You could lose your precious life if you're not careful."
These words were truly intimidating, and the children fell silent for a moment.
However, a few bold students continued to ask questions related to adventure.
Until the crisp sound of the school bell rang.
"Alright, ladies and gentlemen, get out of class is over."
Weiss smiled and signaled the end of the class.
Hermione, however, raised her hand high.
"Miss Granger?"
"Professor, you haven't assigned any homework yet."
All the students glared at Hermione with murderous intent.
Wes shrugged helplessly. "I don't want to lose one of my few students. What are you waiting for?"
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Upon hearing this, the students hurriedly packed up their books and left the classroom in a flurry.
Everyone was overjoyed and cheering because they had no homework, except for Hermione, who looked sullen.
A month has passed in a flash.
Weiss also adapted to the professor's pace of life, only needing to teach three classes a week, assign homework once a week, and then carefully grading students' papers.
To be fair, while some of the ideas the students put forward in their papers seemed a bit naive, they did indeed give Weiss a lot of inspiration.
The library has become a place that Weiss frequents frequently over the past month.
The students were surprised to find that the young professor was even more diligent and hardworking than they were, and they started talking about it. Unexpectedly, this sparked a strong learning atmosphere.
This weekend, Weiss unusually didn't go to the library, but instead chose to visit Hagrid's cabin.
As soon as Hagrid saw Wes, he gave him a big, enthusiastic bear hug: "Wes, oh, I should call you Professor Irwin now."
"Come on, Hagrid, you'll feel much more comfortable and at ease calling me Wes."
The two appear to have a very close relationship.
Hagrid excitedly invited Wes to try the rock cake he had made, but Wes, looking at the rock cake that was so hard it seemed it could crush rocks, could only politely decline.
It was late autumn, and the wood burning in the fireplace of the treehouse crackled and popped intermittently.
Hagrid's beloved dog, Tooth, a sensitive and timid dog, was lying comfortably on the carpet, enjoying Wes's gentle stroking.
Wes carefully examined the wooden cabin, whose decoration style was rough, bold, and even somewhat simple.
However, the soft fur and shed hard horns of rare and magical animals can be found everywhere, and these are all rare and precious materials.
Wes was even surprised to see the hair of the legendary unicorn.
Only Hagrid, the diligent and dedicated Keeper of the Forbidden Forest, could have collected so many priceless treasures.
Hagrid is undoubtedly a master in the field of magical creatures.
However, for some unknown reason, he could only hold ordinary positions such as key manager and forest ranger, with meager wages, and he even had to think twice before ordering a beer at a bar.
Weiss gently stroked the precious furs on the ground, thinking to himself that if Hagrid had been more flexible, he would have made a fortune long ago by reselling these rare materials.
But Hagrid was simple-minded and honest, and extremely loyal to Hogwarts and Headmaster Dumbledore. He would never do something that violated his principles.
"Hagrid, have you ever thought about improving your life even a little bit?"
"Improve my life? Why? I think I'm doing great right now, and I'm happy every day."
Hagrid's face was filled with confusion.
Wes swallowed back the words that were about to come out.
"It's nothing, just take it as me talking nonsense."
Holding steaming teacups, the two enthusiastically recounted their fascinating experiences.
When Wes vividly recounted the strange creatures he encountered during his adventures, Hagrid's eyes would always light up with excitement, as if he were there himself.
As darkness fell quickly, Wes politely declined Hagrid's invitation to dinner, as his delicate and sensitive stomach was simply not suited to the unique cuisine prepared by the half-giant.
