Chapter 81 Resurrection
Chapter 81 Resurrection
The plane teetered precariously in the sandstorm, and O'Connor, Amir, and Jonathan struggled desperately. Only after it crashed in the distant desert did Imhotep slowly withdraw his strength, witnessing the plane's demise.
Evelyn stared worriedly in the direction of the crash site, her hands clasped tightly together, silently praying that O'Connor and the others would be safe.
Wes, Benny, and Evelyn then followed Imhotep into the dungeon.
The underground palace has winding passages, and the walls are carved with ancient and intricate patterns. Every stroke and line contains the ancient Egyptians' profound understanding of life, death, and rebirth.
Imhotep's fingers lightly traced the patterns, and he could feel the power contained within the carvings—a power he once knew well.
Imhotep easily found the altar, the most sacred place in the dungeon. The altar was carved with images of the sun god, symbolizing the source of life and power.
Without a shred of pity, Imhotep bound Evelyn tightly to the altar.
Evelyn struggled incessantly, her wrists aching from the rough ropes, like a trapped bird desperately trying to break free.
Imhotep gently placed Ansuna's body beside Evelyn, his eyes filled with deep affection. He whispered, "My love."
Standing behind Imhotep, Wes gently waved his hand, and the Book of the Dead seemed to be drawn by an invisible force, slowly floating into Imhotep's hand.
Then Imhotep arranged the five sacred urns he had retrieved from the Americans neatly on the altar. His gaze swept over the urns, which contained fragments of Ankula's soul, the key to her resurrection.
Deep within the underground palace, on the ancient stone walls, the flickering flames of torches cast distorted shadows. He began to chant a mysterious and ancient incantation, his voice low and drawn-out.
Black smoke slowly drifted from the five sacred urns, and this smoke, as if alive, was being absorbed by Anklua's corpse. Evelyn watched all this in horror; she could feel the evil power contained within the black smoke, and once this power was completely absorbed by Anklua, she would die forever.
She began to struggle even more frantically, with only one thought in her mind: she had to escape from here, she had to stop all of this from happening.
"Crack, crack..." To Evelyn's horrified gaze, Ansuna's corpse began to move slightly.
Her fingers trembled slightly at first, and then her body began to sway gently.
Then, Ansuna began to breathe heavily, like a person who had just been rescued from drowning, greedily inhaling the air as if trying to absorb the breath of the entire world into her body.
"Anshuna!" Imhotep's urgent voice echoed from within the dungeon.
His eyes were fixed on his lover, the intense emotion in his gaze seeming to set the surrounding air ablaze.
"Kill her, and you will be fully resurrected," Imhotep said urgently, handing a dagger to Anshuna with great solemnity.
The dagger gleamed with a chilling light in the dim light.
Ansuna steadily took the dagger, then slowly stood up.
She raised her hands high, the sharp tips of the daggers aimed directly at Evelyn's heart, ready to pierce it and complete the crucial step in her resurrection.
"Bang!" "Clang!" A bullet flew like lightning, hitting Ansuna's dagger with perfect accuracy. The powerful impact sent the dagger flying instantly.
Ansuna was nearly knocked down by the powerful impact; her body swayed a few times, but she eventually regained her balance.
"O'Connor!! Brother!!" Evelyn looked at the two who had suddenly appeared with a mixture of surprise and joy.
The revolver O'Connor was clutching tightly in his hand was still emitting wisps of smoke, evidence that he had just saved her.
Imhotep's face turned extremely grim at that moment. He hurriedly steadied Ansuna, yelling, "You pesky bug!" A powerful force erupted from his body, causing the entire dungeon to tremble.
The ground began to tremble, dust billowed, and something was awakening from its slumber.
A dozen or so mummies rose from the ground; they were monks who had served Imhotep 3000 years ago and had now been reawakened by Imhotep's call.
They wore tattered robes, worn and tattered by the passage of time, and held ancient weapons in their hands. Some were spears, their tips gleaming coldly, while others were scimitars, their blades etched with the marks of time.
Their eyes were empty and cold, devoid of any emotion, showing only absolute obedience to orders.
"Kill them!" Imhotep roared, issuing the order.
Upon hearing the command, the mummies immediately sprang into action, brandishing their weapons and charging towards O'Connor and Jonathan.
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
"Bang!"
O'Connor's revolver seemed to come alive in his hand, each trigger pull precise and accurate, but the bullets were nothing more than a tickle to these mummies.
The mummies continued their menacing advance towards O'Connor and Jonathan.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Just then, Jonathan shouted, "Catch!!"
A golden greatsword flew out of the darkness, slicing through the air and leaving a golden trail as it flew straight toward O'Connor.
O'Connor's arm seemed to have a mind of its own, catching the golden greatsword steadily with one hand.
The sword gleamed brilliantly in the sunlight, awakening in O'Connor's hand and granting him unprecedented power.
He wielded the greatsword with fluid and natural movements, as if he were born with a natural talent for swordsmanship.
The mummies' attacks became utterly ineffective against his sword. Wherever the blade passed, the mummies' bodies were easily sliced apart, and they eventually fell to the ground.
[His power has increased again, and he's suddenly become skilled in swordsmanship. Is he cheating?]
Wes watched O'Connor's figure, and saw that the golden light on his body was getting brighter and brighter. The light seemed to echo his sword dance. With each flash of the sword, the golden light fluctuated, as if it were the manifestation of some kind of mysterious power.
Imhotep had clearly noticed the unusual change in O'Connor; he had never seen such power before, and he intended to personally address this thorny issue.
"The Book of the Sun!" Evelyn's voice echoed through the dungeon. "The Book of the Sun contains incantations to deal with Imhotep, and it's hidden inside a statue of the sun god!!"
Upon hearing Evelyn's call, Jonathan immediately turned around, heading to find the crucial Book of the Sun.
Before he could even take a step, Wes's voice sounded particularly abrupt in the tense atmosphere.
"You mean this book?"
He took out a book from his pocket; it was entirely golden, with a sun pattern engraved on the cover, emitting a faint glow.
The moon is very big, round and bright tonight. Happy Mid-Autumn Festival to everyone! May your families be reunited!
