Chapter 80 The Ceremony is About to Begin
Having already witnessed the power of Fiery Blaze, Imhotep didn't want to take this attack head-on.
The sand soldiers lined up tightly in front of him, forming a solid high wall like a human pyramid, protecting Imhotep.
Imhotep didn't want to get entangled with Wes; he had more important things to do, and fighting Wes would only be a waste of time.
So he began chanting incantations, and the houses, temples, and trees within a radius of tens of meters around him began to rapidly turn into sand, forming a giant sand vortex under his control.
The sandstorm, with its overwhelming force, like an apocalyptic storm, swept up the surrounding buildings and trees, forming a massive, swirling hurricane that temporarily held Wes back.
After the tornado dissipated, Wes was unharmed, but he had lost all trace of Imhotep.
"I'd like to have a proper talk with him, but unfortunately the high priest is too impatient," Wes sighed.
Imhotep's target is Evelyn; all he needs to do is keep an eye on her.
Finding Evelyn was quite easy, since Imhotep's attention was focused on her.
O'Connor, Evelyn, and their group wanted to leave Cairo, but the entire city was controlled by Imhotep, who had turned them into his puppets, like zombies, constantly chanting Imhotep's name.
Despite O'Connor and his men driving recklessly through the streets, trying to break through the crowd, the car was eventually forced to a stop by the throng. "Damn it!!" O'Connor cursed loudly as they jumped out of the car and began firing incessantly at the approaching crowd.
But those who were controlled were like zombies, devoid of fear and unable to dodge. Bullets struck them, but they simply continued moving forward mechanically.
They kept retreating, trying to find a way out, but the crowd surged forward like a tide, wave after wave.
O'Connor and his men had a limited supply of bullets, and the bullets were of little effect because these controlled individuals had no fear of pain or death.
At that very moment, Imhotep also absorbed the life force of the last American.
He was fully resurrected.
O'Connor and the others were in dire straits. Evelyn looked at the controlled crowd around her and made a decision: she would use her own life as leverage to force Imhotep to release O'Connor and the others.
"If you dare harm them, I will commit suicide, and you will never be able to bring Ankula back to life!"
Imhotep agreed, but this was all a delaying tactic. Once he had Evelyn under control, he immediately ordered the killing of O'Connor and the others.
But the clever O'Connor had already successfully escaped Cairo through the sewers.
Wes witnessed everything, and when Imhotep was about to seize the Book of the Dead from Wes, Wes appeared before him.
The fully resurrected Imhotep's eyes gleamed with malice, and his threatening voice echoed through the air: "Wizard!"
Just as he was about to make his move, Wes calmly took out the Book of the Dead from his pocket.
"I think we can talk."
"Give it to me, and I'll let you leave."
"It seems the high priest's confidence has been greatly boosted by the complete resurrection."
Wes was no pushover either. Although Imhotep's power was formidable, the Book of the Dead in his possession was also a significant bargaining chip.
Imhotep is confident he can beat Wes, but it will definitely take time.
Imhotep's biggest shortage right now is time; every second is crucial because he must complete the ritual to resurrect Anklua within a specific time window.
"What do you want?" Imhotep finally compromised, unwilling to waste any more time on this wizard.
"I just wanted to verify some things." Wes's words made Imhotep hesitate; he didn't know what Wes was up to.
As Wes turned to leave, Imhotep stopped him: "Whatever your purpose, don't stop me from resurrecting Ankula."
"That's one of my goals too."
Wes's answer surprised Imhotep. He wondered what the wizard's purpose was in repeatedly stopping him and now cooperating to hand over the Book of the Dead.
What exactly was he plotting? But Imhotep didn't have time to delve into that question at the moment.

Imhotep led Wes, Evelyn, and Benny to Hamunaptrata just as dawn was breaking.
A sliver of darkness still lingered in the sky, and Hamunaptra appeared faintly in the haze.
At that moment, a sudden roar shattered the tranquility of the desert. Imhotep looked up and saw an airplane, resembling a giant steel bird, whizzing overhead, its engine roaring across the vast desert.
Amid the roar of the plane, Evelyn's face lit up with undisguised joy, a glimmer of hope for escaping the desert.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
O'Connor, Amir, and Jonathan are sitting on this plane.
Imhotep noticed Evelyn's change in expression, a flash of annoyance crossing his face. The appearance of this plane could ruin his plans, and he couldn't allow any unexpected events to occur.
He suddenly raised his hands, and powerful magical energy surged forth like a raging tide. A sandstorm, obscuring the sky, whipped up countless grains of yellow sand.
The sandstorm seemed to completely obscure the entire blue sky. Faced with this natural disaster, the plane was like a tiny, insignificant ant, teetering on the brink of destruction, and could be destroyed by its powerful force at any moment.
"We have to find a way to stabilize the plane!" O'Connor shouted, though his voice was almost drowned out by the roar of the engines and the howling wind.
O'Connor gripped the joystick tightly, his forehead beaded with sweat. Amir and Jonathan clenched their seats, their hearts pounding in their chests as if trying to break free of their restraints.
Evelyn's heart leaped into her throat. She watched the plane struggle in the sandstorm, her eyes filled with worry.
If the plane crashes, O'Connor and his colleagues will face unimaginable danger.
"Wes, help them." Evelyn was extremely anxious, tightly gripping Wes's arm, her eyes filled with pleading, urgently begging him to help.
"They'll be fine."
Wes's answer filled Evelyn with despair. She stared at Wes with wide eyes and disbelief.
In that critical moment, she rushed towards Imhotep without hesitation, her lips pressing tightly against his. It was an impulsive act, an instinctive choice; she hoped to interrupt Imhotep's magic and buy O'Connor and the others time to escape.
Imhotep's body stiffened at that moment, and his magic came to an abrupt end.
