Chapter 84 New Trouble
Chapter 84 New Trouble
[Is the divine descent over just like that? Did they run out of energy?]
Wes didn't know the specifics, but he was eager to examine O'Connor's body to see if there were any unusual changes.
But Evelyn and Jonathan blocked his way, preventing him from approaching. Their eyes were filled with hostility; they already regarded Wes as an enemy.
Left with no other option, Wess used a spell to freeze the two of them in place.
O'Connor struggled to stand up, but he was so weak that every movement was so difficult.
Wes quickly went to his side and carefully examined his body, but found no obvious abnormalities in O'Connor.
Finally, Wes took a bottle of recovery potion from his sleeve and handed it to O'Connor: "Drink this; it will help you regain your strength."
Then it vanished in a burst of magical light—
Wes witnessed the Ten Plagues and the Descent of God, obtaining the Book of the Dead and the Book of the Sun, but the outcome of this battle with Him left him dissatisfied. The anticlimactic feeling was like a thorn in his heart, causing him great distress.
However, upon returning to Hogwarts, he received even more troubling news.
"Peter Pettigrew ran away??" Wes was speechless upon hearing this news.
Dumbledore nodded helplessly: "According to the Aurors who were escorting him, he controlled the rats to cause a riot and found an opportunity to escape."
"Did they drink fake alcohol?!" Wes was utterly disappointed by the Ministry of Magic's incompetence. "How could they let him get away like that?!"
Dumbledore handed Wes a cup of black tea, trying to calm him down: "Because of the World Cup, the Ministry of Magic has drawn a lot of its elite forces, so they haven't been paying much attention to escorting Pettigrew. Fudge was furious about this, and many people within the Ministry of Magic have begun to feel dissatisfied with him."
Weiss took the teacup, took a small sip, but he had no interest in these political matters: "Wasn't there any trace left on Peter Pettigrew that we could track down?"
Dumbledore shrugged. "Unfortunately, no. We considered it, but ultimately decided to respect the legal process."
Wes sighed and shook his head: "What a mess."
Just as Wes was marveling at this, a silvery-white sphere emerged from his sleeve, shimmering with light.
These are a pair of communication devices made by Wes. The other one is with Lucius Malfoy. Lucius must have something important to tell him to contact him.
"You handle the Ministry of Magic matters, and I'll have some work to do here," Wes said to Dumbledore.
"Do you need my help?" Dumbledore added three more spoonfuls of honey to Wes's black tea.
Wes looked at the teacup with disdain, but didn't drink a drop: "I'll let you know when I need your help."
He turned and left the office. The tranquility of Hogwarts seemed to have vanished, replaced by endless troubles.
Hogsmeade Village, Three Broomsticks Bar.
Wes didn't know why these people always liked to come here to discuss things. Maybe it was because there were so many people here that it was harder to be eavesdropped on? Maybe the atmosphere here was more conducive to hiding secrets?
Wes went to a corner of the hall, where Lucius was already waiting. However, he was completely hidden in a black cloak, with only his eyes showing, and even his hands were covered by black gloves.
"You've come." As soon as Lucius spoke, even his voice was altered by some kind of magical artifact, becoming deep and hoarse.
Wes wasn't surprised; after all, going undercover was a dangerous thing.
As for whether Lucius's attire would attract attention, there were plenty of people in the bar dressed even more strangely than him. In such a place, Lucius's outfit actually seemed quite ordinary.
Wes sat down and cast a soundproofing spell. "Don't worry, no one can hear us."
Lucius's tense body relaxed, and he took a deep breath, as if a heavy burden had been lifted. "They've found me, those Death Eaters."
Wes raised an eyebrow: "What do they want with you?"
Despite the soundproofing spell, Lucius lowered his voice: "The Dark Mark is becoming increasingly obvious. They suspect the Mystic is about to return, and to avoid being purged by him, they plan to do something to prove their loyalty."
When Voldemort fell from power, apart from a few die-hard followers who were imprisoned in Azkaban, most Death Eaters avoided imprisonment through various means.
Among them was Lucius, who claimed he followed Voldemort under the influence of the Imperius Curse and escaped punishment due to the influence of his pure-blood family. This was seen as betrayal by Voldemort and his loyal followers. Now that the Dark Mark has reappeared, this group is panicking again, fearing retribution.
"They plan to cause trouble at the World Cup to prove their loyalty," Lucius said in a low voice.
Wes was speechless; these Death Eaters were complete opportunists. "Are there any among them that can be won over?"
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
Lucius leaned back, nearly falling. He knew Wes meant for him to try and recruit a few people. He refused without hesitation: "Don't even think about it, it's too dangerous."
Wes understood Lucius's concerns. "Just cooperate with them, don't give anything away, and tell me when and where they'll launch their attack."
Lucius breathed a sigh of relief; as long as he didn't have to do it himself, that was fine. "They plan to create chaos during the World Cup, using the crowd as cover for their attack. I'll let you know the specific time and location as soon as possible."
Wes noticed Lucius's unease and reassured him, "Don't worry, we won't be exposed. We'll take care of everything."
"I hope so." Lucius downed a whole glass of wine to suppress his unease. He glanced around and, finding nothing amiss, got up to leave.
A few minutes later, a scarab beetle crawled onto the table and moved around on it rhythmically.
"No one is following Lucius, so he seems safe for now."
After confirming that Lucius was not being followed, Wes returned to Hogwarts and went directly to Dumbledore's office to discuss countermeasures.
"Things have been really turbulent lately!" Dumbledore sighed, stroking his silver beard.
Wes interrupted his sigh: "We already know their plans in advance, so they can't cause any trouble. The important thing is to do it naturally and not let the Death Eaters discover the existence of a mole."
"That is indeed a problem," Dumbledore said, tapping his index finger on the desk. The dull sound echoed through the office.
"I've got it!" Dumbledore suddenly had a flash of inspiration, took out a piece of paper, and began to write something.
