Chapter 97 Secret Meeting
Chapter 97 Secret Meeting
"How long has it been since you slept?" Sirius asked, looking at Wes's bloodshot eyes and messy hair. "You're not much better off now than I was when I first escaped."
Wes ignored Sirius, shoved him aside, and walked straight into Black's old house.
Upon entering the house, the first thing that catches the eye is the dimly lit hall. The furniture inside looks very old, and the sofas and tables are covered with a thick layer of dust due to neglect, and they also emit a musty smell.
"Don't you know how to clean up?" Wes covered his nose, looking at the living room which was full of dust and musty smell.
Sirius shrugged and replied nonchalantly, "There's no need. It's much more comfortable here than in Azkaban. At least there are no Dementors here."
Wes shook his head, exasperated by Sirius's attitude. "Clean and refreshed." He simply uttered the incantation, and the entire living room instantly became clean and tidy, the dust and musty smell vanished without a trace, and the furniture regained its shine.
Sirius looked at the newly renovated living room. Although he had seen Wess cast spells many times, he was still amazed by his profound magical skills.
[Perhaps only Dumbledore, besides him, could cast spells without a staff so easily.]
Before Wes even reached the stairs, a shrill voice echoed down the corridor: "That spendthrift son brought an outsider back! How heartbroken the madam will be when she finds out..."
A very old house-elf stood in the shadows, constantly swearing. Its skin seemed to be much thicker than necessary, hanging loosely on its frame, giving it an aged and unhealthy appearance.
"Shut up, Kreacher! Go back to your room!" Sirius roared. "Don't come out without my permission!"
Kreacher staggered back to his room, muttering, "Sirius is a traitor to the family. Only Master Regulus is worthy of inheriting the noble Black name..."
"I order you to shut up!"
Kreacher hung its head and finally fell silent, but you could still see its lips opening and closing as it cursed something, though no sound came out.
Wes wasn't just casually strolling around Black's old house this time; [the Slytherin locket seems to be in Kreacher's hands.]
The Black family mansion was decorated with portraits of Black family members throughout history. These portraits depicted figures who could talk, move, and were very interested in family matters. Sirius Black, annoyed by them, covered all the frames with a black cloth and then led Wes to a room that had been prepared for him.
As soon as he opened the door, Wes saw bookshelves all over the room, filled with all kinds of books.
"I was originally planning to throw all these books away."
Sirius Black was kicked out of his family home at a young age due to ideological differences and lived with the Potters ever since. Therefore, he had no emotional attachment to the Black family and naturally disliked their belongings.
"You really are a spendthrift," Wes teased, agreeing with Kreacher's assessment.
Sirius shrugged, seemingly unconcerned by the assessment. "You'd better rest first. All these books are yours now, no need to rush to organize them."
After saying that, Sirius left the room; he didn't want to be with a "nerd" like Wes.
Wes was indeed very tired and only recovered his energy after a day of rest.
Over the next few days, the Weasleys, Moody, and several other members of the Order of the Phoenix arrived at Black's old house.
They were all people trusted by Dumbledore and were among the elite of the wizarding world. Although Voldemort's true form had been dealt with, the remaining Death Eaters were still lurking in the shadows, waiting for their chance to strike.
What's even more troublesome is that Voldemort created too many Horcruxes, making the plan to destroy him even more complicated and difficult.
Arthur Weasley walked into the living room with a heavy message.
"I heard that Fudge is preparing to deal with Dumbledore."
"Is he crazy?" Sirius asked incredulously.
Moody snorted coldly, as if he had expected this day: "I knew this day would come."
Everyone started talking at once, criticizing Fukichi.
"The important thing now is to destroy the remaining Horcruxes. Put everything else aside for now," Moody said bitterly, leaning on his cane. "Fudge doesn't have the ability to bring down Dumbledore."
The truth is that they all underestimated Fudge. After all, Fudge is the Minister of Magic, wielding enormous power and resources.
Furthermore, the mysterious deaths of Karkaroff and Barty Crouch at Hogwarts led many to question Dumbledore's authority. Fudge specifically convened a hearing, directly pointing the finger at Dumbledore and arguing that he should be held responsible for their deaths.
Dumbledore was forced to attend the hearing, where he silenced Fudge with his arguments.
Dumbledore explained the events in detail and provided ample evidence to prove his innocence.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
However, Fudge was not satisfied and still sent his trusted men to Hogwarts to investigate the deaths of Karkaroff and Barty Crouch.
Dumbledore would certainly not agree easily, but Fudge, as Minister of Magic, did have a legitimate reason to conduct an investigation.
Just as Fukichi and his men were celebrating their partial victory at the hearing, something unexpected happened.
The Dementors who were guarding Azkaban suddenly abandoned their posts and disappeared, and all the prisoners escaped.
Fukichi slumped into a chair, utterly dejected. "It's all over, everything's over..."
Good news doesn't travel far, but bad news travels fast. The news of the Azkaban prisoners' mass escape spread rapidly throughout the wizarding world, causing widespread fear.
Even Wes hadn't expected things to turn out this way.
A few days later, Lucius Malfoy secretly sent word, requesting an immediate meeting with Wes, to be held at the Leaky Cauldron.
Wes disguised himself simply, wearing a hat and glasses, and arrived at the Leaky Cauldron. Lucius Malfoy was still dressed the same, wearing a large black cloak, keeping a very low profile.
Since the prisoners' mass breakout, violent attacks have occurred daily, and the relentless torture in Azkaban has made the prisoners even more brutal and insane.
This resulted in a lack of activity in Diagon Alley. The once bustling Leaky Cauldron was now nearly deserted under the dim lighting. Those who were still in the mood to come here at this time were mostly hardcore drinkers.
Wes walked into the bar, looked around, and quickly found Lucius sitting in the corner.
He walked straight over and sat down opposite Lucius. Just to be on the safe side, Wes still cast a few spells.
