Chapter 98 The Secret of Black's Old House
Chapter 98 The Secret of Black's Old House
Wes first used a soundproofing spell to block out their conversation, and then created an illusion so that onlookers would see two drunkards drinking incessantly.
"Didn't you say that the mysterious man... has been killed?" Lucius asked angrily.
"They're looking for you?" The "they" he referred to were the Death Eaters who had escaped from Azkaban.
Lucius rolled up his sleeves, revealing the Dark Mark on his forearm: "Three days ago..."
Wes understood. It turned out that Barty Crouch Jr. had made some promise that caused the Dementors to betray the Ministry of Magic.
This is likely related to the fact that after Dumbledore reprimanded them, the Ministry of Magic never gave them an explanation, but instead kept an even stricter watch on them.
Lucius glanced around warily, hurriedly pulling his sleeves tighter, afraid of being discovered. "That madman is trying to resurrect the mysterious man. I only contacted you while I was out shopping."
"You haven't been exposed, have you?"
Lucius shook his head with lingering fear: "I was watching the Triwizard Tournament live with Ministry of Magic officials all around me. I used that as an explanation for why I didn't respond to the mysterious man's summons. Barty Crouch Jr. saw it with his own eyes, and they haven't suspected me yet."
Who are they?
"Bellatrix Lestrange, Alektokaro, Amicuskaro, Antonin Dolokhov"
Lucius paused, glanced at Wes, and said the last two names: "Severus Snape, Peter Pettigrew."
Wes wasn't surprised by the others, but when he heard Peter Pettigrew's name, he couldn't help but marvel at Peter Pettigrew's good fortune in escaping danger time and time again.
"What should I do next?" Lucius asked anxiously. If those lunatics found out he was a traitor, he and his family would definitely be doomed.
"Don't panic," Wes reassured Lucius with magic, helping him calm down. "Wear the ring I gave you; it can help you. Whatever they ask you to do, just agree. If necessary, activate the key, and I'll be there immediately."
Wes's words calmed Lucius down considerably. He took a deep breath and told Wes about the Death Eaters' next plan.
"To unite with dark creatures like werewolves, giants, and vampires," Wes scoffed. "If they were effective, they wouldn't be used as alchemical materials and potions by wizards."
"The most important thing is Voldemort's hiding place. Can you find out?"
Lucius shook his head vigorously: "Little Barty doesn't trust me. He only trusts Bella and those who just came out of Azkaban. All I need to do is provide supplies and information."
Lucius handed a purchasing list to Wes.
The list includes some everyday items that don't require special attention.
However, the list also includes many rare items such as precious herbs, dragon blood, and phoenix feathers, which are difficult to collect in a short time.
"Without Voldemort, they are nothing but a rabble."
Wes's confidence was infectious, and Lucius was no longer as nervous as before. He patted Lucius on the shoulder: "Don't be afraid, everything is under control."
When Wes rushed back to Black's old house, he found Dumbledore already waiting there. He entered the living room and saw Dumbledore sitting in an old armchair, holding a cup of tea.
"I have something to tell you."
Dumbledore smiled. "I happen to have something to tell you too. I think we should talk about the same thing."
Wes nodded, signaling Dumbledore to speak first.
"The situation at the Ministry of Magic has become increasingly complicated recently, and Fudge's hostility towards me has become public. Not only did he try to pin the deaths of Karkaroff and Barty Crouch on me at the hearings, but he also sent his trusted men to Hogwarts to investigate. In addition, the mass breakout of Azkaban prisoners has also put enormous pressure on the Ministry of Magic."
Wes listened attentively, then relayed the information Lucius had provided: "Lucius just provided some important information about the Death Eaters. Barty Crouch Jr. and other Death Eaters who escaped from Azkaban are planning a series of operations, including uniting with werewolves, giants, and vampires. They've also compiled a list of supplies, requiring many rare items such as precious herbs, dragon blood, and phoenix feathers."
Dumbledore put down his teacup and stretched: "It seems we underestimated Barty Jr. His mind and schemes are not to be underestimated."
"Can Professor Snape have access to Voldemort?"
"Of course, but only at the last minute," Dumbledore replied. "They need Severus to brew the potion for Voldemort."
"This way, we'll have the initiative in our hands. The potion won't be ready until we destroy all the Horcruxes."
"Of course, the potion that brings Voldemort back to life isn't so easy to make." Dumbledore blinked.
"How's the quest to collect Horcruxes going?"
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
As soon as Wes finished speaking, Dumbledore's expression turned serious. He took out a gold ring from his clothes, with a black gemstone engraved with the Peverell's emblem on it.
Wes's gaze was immediately drawn to the black gemstone.
This gem is not only Marvolo Gaunt's family heirloom, but also one of the legendary "Three Holy Relics of the Dead"—the Resurrection Stone. It is said to have the power to resurrect the dead, making it a coveted treasure for countless wizards.
As the wielder of the Elder Wand, Dumbledore would naturally recognize the Resurrection Stone.
However, the Resurrection Stone is now set in the ring, and removing it hastily might expose him to Voldemort's magic. Unlike in the original story, Dumbledore is not in a hurry; he wants to find a more secure way to destroy the Horcrux.
"I have good news for you. Slytherin's locket is right here."
"Really?" Dumbledore was still somewhat surprised to hear the news, but he did not doubt Wes.
"Right here," Wes said, pointing to the ground.
"You mean, Slytherin's locket is in this house."
Wes didn't keep them in suspense any longer: "I saw it in the hands of Kreacher, the house-elf of the Black family, but Kreacher is hiding."
Didn't Voldemort hide Slytherin's locket deep in a cave? Didn't he meticulously set up numerous traps so that only those who dared to drink the deadly poison could access that ancient treasure?
Surprisingly, this dark relic ended up in the hands of Kreacher, the house-elf of the Black family.
Wes didn't intend to explain, but was certain that he hadn't misread it; the Slytherin locket was indeed in Kreacher's hands.
