Chapter 10 The Captain Needs a Wife

Chapter 10 The Captain Needs a Wife

"How is it? Not bad, right?"

Leonard's gaze swept across the entire arena, and he struck two poses while asking with a smile, looking like a flamboyant peacock.

However, no one paid any attention to him.

Fearing that this would embarrass him too much, Philip could only nod slowly and reply softly, "Well, but that probably has nothing to do with the clothes."

This subtle yet sincere praise caught Leonard's eye, and he immediately removed his hat and bowed in thanks, saying, "I believe it will be very pleasant to spend time with you from now on."

Dunn then sat down on the sofa, a hint of a smile in his deep gray eyes: "I hope you've understood enough and have truly made up your mind to join."

"Yes, that's right."

Philip nodded, picked up the pen, and bent down to sign, but Dunn kindly reminded him, "But before that, you'd better think of a completely new name, while only Leonard and I know your real name."

"As for identification, don't worry."

Ok?

"Yes, I was so focused on the salary and my plans to become an Extraordinary that I completely forgot about this." Philip's hand froze in mid-air, his eyes glazed over for a moment, then he nodded. "Yes, you're absolutely right."

He had no reason to refuse the offer, after all, the official identification was free and much better than those expensive external channels.

"Um, Lawrence, Lawrence Slytherin." Philip hesitated for a dozen seconds, finally breaking free from his Chinese-style habits, and reluctantly came up with a Western name that he could accept. "Mr. Smith, what do you think of this name?"

Dunn nodded slightly, a glint of light flickering in his gray eyes, as if he had really thought about it: "Hmm, no problem. I think you can go back and rest, then come back tomorrow to pick up your identification, sign the contract, and start working."

With that, he stood up, walked to the door, pushed open the outer door, and went out. Leonard followed closely behind, and soon only Rosanne and Philip remained in the room.

"Um, should I call you Lawrence now, or Mr. Slytherin?" Rosanne asked somewhat uncertainly, then assured her, "Don't worry, I won't tell anyone about this; that would definitely have bad consequences."

"Yes, Lawrence is fine, I'm very young." Philip smiled and nodded, but stopped abruptly as he listened to the steady footsteps outside.

The door was pushed open, and Dunn Smith leaned half his body in. Upon seeing Philip, he said, "I'm glad you didn't leave. I just forgot something. As our civilian staff, it's best to wear formal attire. I hope you're as well as your name suggests, with enough savings."

Formal attire, indeed.

Philip looked down and felt that his clothes and the classic sofa he was sitting on were so mismatched, the sofa looked like it had been ruined and would probably need to be cleaned later.

But before that, I should at least take a shower, otherwise it doesn't matter what I wear. He nodded and replied, "Thank you for your suggestion. I'll go to the clothing store later."

After receiving the reply, Dunn said nothing, silently closed the door, and left.

Rosanne glanced in the direction of the door, then leaned closer and whispered as if they were talking in school, "Lawrence, the captain has a bad memory, you'll get used to it, but don't forget when he asks you to do something important in the future."

boom!

The door was suddenly flung open again, and Dunn Smith, his expression unchanged, said calmly, "There's one more thing."

"Mr. Slytherin, try to avoid the underground shopping mall at the Dragon's Cottage for a while. If anything really happens, you can ask Old Neil for help or go with him. You can meet him tomorrow, or wait for him to return now."

Then, he turned to look at Rosanne, and said with a humorous smile, "Rosanne, remember to control your expressions in the future. Exaggerated expressions will not only reveal your true feelings, but also affect your charm."

The door closed again, but the room remained silent for a good ten seconds.

Philip turned around, suppressing a strange impulse, and carefully asked, "Um, Mr. Smith, how old are you this year?"

"I...I'm not entirely sure either."

Rosanne's expression didn't look good. She kept glancing towards the door, and only relaxed after confirming that there was no more movement. "All I know is that the captain is over thirty years old this year. At least in the five years I've been with the company, his memory hasn't been very good."

"Oh, maybe he needs a virtuous and understanding wife," Philip said half-jokingly.

He hadn't taken it seriously himself, but to his surprise, Rosanne suddenly became excited. "Really?! I didn't expect you to think so too. I'll tell you a secret, I've been thinking about this for a long time. Ms. Daly, I think it's wonderful!"

Philip's eyelids twitched, and he quickly interrupted, "Wait, wait, put everything else aside for now, tell me first who Ms. Daly is?"

Rosanne frowned and pondered for a moment, then said with great certainty:

"Dali is the most ideal Extraordinary in my mind. She is a psychic, young and promising, a true genius. The confidence and charisma she exudes in her words and actions are always captivating."

As she spoke, she clasped her hands together, her eyes filled with longing. Seeing this, Philip sighed, roughly understanding what she meant, and then asked:

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"She sounds like a nice woman, but she seems like the assertive type. If they're really as compatible as you're so excited about, won't they end up together sooner or later?"

"Hmm"

Upon hearing this, Rosanne lowered her head and fell silent. After looking around, she said, "Actually, I suspect that the captain has a thing for Ms. Daly, but because she is so dazzling, he is very reserved and insecure."

"And Ms. Daly, she seems to treat the captain and the others differently. Although she lives in Enmat, she often finds reasons to submit applications to come to Tingen."

Hmm? What a melodramatic plot. No, sometimes this is more realistic. Wait, in reality, most relationships on Earth are one-sided. Philip thought to himself, then asked:

"So, didn't you do anything to help their relationship before?"

Hearing this, Rosanne sighed. "I... I can't be sure either. What if I'm wrong? The captain is kind like a father, yet he frightens me. And Ms. Daly is someone I both admire and somewhat respect."

"I can see that you really have this idea. Are you some kind of matchmaker or a fanatic?" Philip shook his head inwardly, stood up, and said, "Hmm, I think I understand."

"I'll observe them further. If they're truly a perfect match, the kind of perfect fit that would be a shame to miss out on, I think I'll try to lend a hand. After all, Mr. Smith is indeed a very nice person."

"Of course, I might need your help."

He waved his hand, pushed open the door of Blackthorn Security Company, and left.
