Mystery: Starting from the Shadow World
Chapter 12 Application Materials
Chapter 12 Application Materials
In the early morning, Philip propped himself up, sat on the bed, and stretched lazily, feeling much better about the frustration that had been building up inside him.
He dressed somewhat awkwardly, opened the window, parted the thin lace curtains, took a breath of fresh air, and smiled faintly, "I originally thought that such peaceful sleep would be a luxury."
Perhaps it's time to stop.
The pain of fighting the curse during his time as an Extraordinary and the experience of witnessing his companions lose control flooded his mind, causing Philip to unconsciously clench his fist. Perhaps an office job would be much better.
No, in this extraordinary world, stopping would be a mistake. One day, when fate is out of his control, it might be too late to regret it. Even if it's a path of no return destined to be crazy and twisted, he needs to see it clearly before he can be at peace.
Philip lowered his eyes, sighed inwardly, then went to the washroom to wash up quickly before going out and taking a public carriage to Blackthorn Security Company.
Upon entering, I found Rosanne reading a newspaper, with a half-finished cup of coffee on the table.
Upon hearing the voice and turning her head to see Philip, joy shone in her light brown eyes. "Lawrence, you're here!"
Are we that close?
Philip was puzzled, but after clearing his mind of all distractions, he relaxed and smiled faintly, "Such a good job, I don't think many people would choose to refuse it."
"Yes, of course! Well, as long as you don't become an extraordinary person, this will be a job with almost no drawbacks. I've personally concluded this after five years of experience."
"Sorry, I've made up my mind, and such advice won't sway me." Philip's smile faltered slightly as he looked at the beautiful young woman in the light green, runic-style dress before him. Instead of giving a direct answer, he changed the subject:
Is Mr. Smith here?
"Yes, the captain is inside. Let me take you in." Rosanne stood up from the sofa and led Philip through the door next to her into a corridor that was only about ten meters long.
There were three doors on each side. She walked to the end, turned the handle, pushed the door open, and pointed to the gray-white stone structure that stretched downwards inside, saying:
"You still have to go down a few flights of stairs. Even though the gaslights on both sides are quite bright, you still have to be careful. The first day Leonard became the 'Insomniac,' he couldn't control his strength but still wanted to show off, so he tumbled down the stairs."
As she thought about it, Rosanne seemed to recall the scene from that time, and she couldn't help but laugh. Philip, out of politeness, also slightly curled the corners of his mouth, even though he didn't think it was enough to make him laugh.
After ascending the spiral staircase, a long stone-paved corridor guided the way forward. The symbols of the goddess of night, the "Dark Symbols," on both sides inexplicably brought a sense of peace to the two.
黑夜女神
Philip stared at one of the badges for a moment and suddenly had the idea of believing in Him from then on, after all, this ability to calm his mind would be very useful for his extraordinary path in the future.
But the original owner had once worshipped the Bound God, and that wasn't a lie. Traitors rarely end well, so hopefully turning to the light would be useful. He sighed inwardly, and in the blink of an eye, he had crossed a crossroads and arrived at the "Charnis Gate" that Rosanne had mentioned.
Seven identical Night Emblems were engraved on the double iron doors, yet Philip felt an indescribable sense of oppression. He held his breath and, following Rosanne's direction, pushed open the door next to the door and went inside.
"You're here. You look to be in good shape."
Dunn was reading the newspaper at his desk, his eyes relaxed and at ease. He opened a drawer, took out the contract and a thin sheet of paper with detailed information about "Lawrence Slytherin".
"Lawrence Slytherin; Gender: Male; Date of Birth: July 15, 1329."
Descendants of a fallen noble family?
Philip then noticed the fabricated history Dunn had written about himself in his identification document, opened his mouth, and hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to say.
Ironically, this name actually suited him quite well, so he had no choice but to ignore it for the time being and pick up a pen to sign his pseudonym on the two contracts.
"Captain Dunn, what is my next task?"
Dunn put a document away from the table and then said, "Before that, I need to know what you're good at."
Ah this
Philip blinked.
He reviewed his memories, then hesitated before saying, "Rune, Hermes, Old Hermes, and Old Fusak, as well as some mystical rituals and simple pendulum divination."
"Is that so?" Dunn pulled out the gold watch chain near the button on the front of his black trench coat, took out his pocket watch to check the time, and then asked Philip, who had already picked up the contract, "What are your thoughts?"
"I want to become extraordinary."
Dunn's previously calm expression faltered, his grey eyes deepening as he gazed at Philip, then closed his eyes and nodded.
"What do you need to submit? A potion recipe, or information about the Rose School? This needs to be telegraphed to the Sanctuary for review, which will take time."
Philip didn't speak, but instead picked up the pen again, took the paper from Dunn, and began writing down the recipe for Sequence 9, "The Singer," of the Eternal Sun Church's path:
Main ingredients: Crimson Firebird tail feather, Siren Stone; Auxiliary ingredients: one Midsummer Grass, five drops of July Wine, one Elf Dark Leaf.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
The pen tip continued to glide across the paper without pausing, and he continued to write down the formula for the Sequence 9 Warrior, as well as much information he had once possessed as a member of the Rose School.
After nervously examining the paper, Philip slightly raised his pen, pushed it towards Dunn, and looked at him, as if about to say something, but then changed his mind after thinking of something:
"Please give me another piece of paper."
"So, you've made up your mind?" Dunn asked, sitting in his chair with two sheets of paper he had just laid down beside him. He added, "..."
"As you described, Beyonders on the 'Prisoner' pathway only begin to suffer the curse at Sequence 8. Yet you still decided to apply along with the Sequence 8 materials?"
"Hmm." Philip resisted the urge to avert his gaze, looked directly at the other person, and nodded with a nonchalant smile. "Yes, I think the merit points earned from these things are definitely enough to apply. As for madness and curses..."
"Captain, my parents are temperance advocates."
Dunn tapped his fingers lightly on the table, remaining silent for more than ten seconds in the somewhat suffocating atmosphere before slowly speaking: "I will send these to the Sanctuary for review. You will be responsible for assisting Rosanne with her work for the next two days, as a way to get used to the environment."
"Let's leave the rest aside for now."
