Mystery: Starting from the Shadow World
Chapter 23 Reunion Scene
Chapter 23 Reunion Scene
"Your sister is very good to you."
In the awkward silence between them, Philip found an excuse to start a conversation.
Klein's mental preparations were disrupted. He opened his mouth as if to say something, but only nodded and whispered, "Mm."
He didn't elaborate on the topic, but reached into his pocket, took out the piece of white paper, and placed it on the coffee table. "Now, I think we should add a confirmation step."
The time traveler confirmation process?
What, is this some kind of absurdity? Never mind, that's a bit too much. Philip didn't speak, pondered for a moment, then simply took out the pen he carried and wrote down a very simple question:
Question: What does 1+1 equal?
Klein looked at the question in the blank corner of the paper, his expression becoming somewhat meaningful. "I have to say, this question is quite difficult."
He and Philip looked at each other, smiled, and both understood the answer in each other's eyes.
Klein picked up the pen that Philip had just placed on the paper, carefully added the number "2" to it, and then wrote in the area below:
"How did you travel through time?"
"I'm not entirely sure, but the most likely one is a silver medal I bought on the street. It's of very good quality, and the symbols and patterns are quite nice, so..." Philip took the pen from the other person and continued writing.
A silver medal, not a lucky charm?
Klein frowned, puzzled.
Both of them carefully avoided speaking Chinese, instead adopting the handwritten method of their predecessor, Emperor Rosell, to prevent any negative consequences.
As for whether it will be useful, I don't know.
After answering the question, Philip wrote, "What are your thoughts on time travel?"
"Thoughts? Nothing much, or rather, very simple." Klein lowered his eyes slightly, his gaze dimming somewhat. He slowed his pen-writing pace considerably, but still wrote on the paper with utmost seriousness and determination:
"go home!"
Upon seeing this answer, Philip, who had considered many possibilities, paused for a few seconds, then smiled knowingly and said directly in Rune, "I'm afraid it won't be easy."
Like characters in novels, they may reach the summit, perish halfway, or stop at their achievable goal, but few return to 'that place.' Enjoying life in the present is, in some ways, the best choice.
"Do I mean, is it absolutely necessary for you to do it?"
"Hmm." Klein nodded expressionlessly, expressing his determination.
"Okay, I'll help."
Philip carefully put away the crumpled paper and pen, offering no further questions or persuasion, and went straight to the point, beginning his explanation to Klein:
"The mystical world is different from others; the more we know, the easier it is to fall into madness and despair. But undeniably, if you want to achieve your goals, mystical knowledge is essential, and even the more the better."
"From this perspective, the best and safest option is actually the 'reader' approach controlled by the Church of the God of Knowledge and Wisdom, but due to practical reasons, you and I both know that."
"Therefore, the only choice is to be a spy."
"And the fortune teller," Klein added, offering his suggestion.
Upon hearing this, Philip shrugged and smiled. "Alright, it seems you've also read Emperor Rosell's diary. Since you've made your decision, I'll skip this question for now."
After saying this, he hesitated for a moment, his brow furrowed slightly, and finally spoke:
"For some unknown reason, I have become connected with a mysterious and great being. If, in the future, conditions permit and I am sure there are no major problems, I will ask Him for a way to 'go home' or introduce you directly to Him."
Him!?
Klein's breath hitched, and he instinctively said:
"Are you serious about referring to Him?"
"I'm not sure." Philip shook his head, smiling bitterly and helplessly. "After all, how can humans possibly speculate about an unknown being in a higher position? Fortunately, that being's attitude is currently kind and friendly."
"I see," Klein sighed, "I never would have guessed Lawrence would be in such a life-or-death situation." But then he suddenly felt something was off, as if some information could be connected by this.
He carefully reviewed his memories, trying to find the key details, but Philip continued:
"Alright, that's enough for today. There's no use thinking about it now. I believe you know that you can't do things well if you're impatient."
Indeed, we've covered most of what we've talked about.
Klein nodded slightly, stood up, and walked to the door with Philip's respectful farewell. He picked up his hat from the coat rack, put it back on, opened the door, and went outside.
Then, he bowed slightly to Philip and said, "I've moved to 2 Narcissus Street today, so we're neighbors from now on. If you need anything, feel free to come to my house."
"I will."
Philip nodded without refusing.
Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!
He roughly understood Klein's situation; the other party didn't really have much to help him, but it was better to agree anyway, just in case. There will always be times in life when you need someone else.
"Phew~" After seeing Klein off, Philip leaned back on the sofa and let out a sigh of relief.
He glanced at the darkening sky outside the window, shook his head, picked up a book from the coffee table, and continued reading, preparing to cook dinner while waiting for Admisor, whom he had put on a free-range lifestyle, to return.
"Klein, you're back."
After unlocking the door and entering her new home, Melissa's joyful voice made Klein, who had just taken off his top hat, unconsciously smile and say, "Hmm."
Melissa sat comfortably on the sofa, but her bright eyes still betrayed her earlier excitement as she explored her new home. She tried to remain calm as she spoke, "This is our new home. It's real. This isn't a dream."
"This is a dream come true, lovely lady."
A short-haired man, nearing thirty and wearing a linen shirt, walked out of the room and responded with a smile.
He turned his head, opened his arms to Klein, and walked over with a smile. "Look, our dream-fulfilling angel is back."
"Benson." Klein was stunned for a moment, a strange feeling welling up in his heart. He walked up to his brother Benson and hugged him, completely ignoring the dust on his face.
Two strong arms embraced him, and Klein felt their warmth and touch. He then looked up at Melissa on the sofa, her lips pursed and her eyes filled with happiness.
A sense of confusion suddenly arose in his heart.
His true identity is Zhou Mingrui, who has parents, relatives, friends, and over twenty years of memories from childhood on Earth. Everything there is waiting for him to return.
But his current identity is "Klein," an indispensable family member to Melissa and Benson.
Klein unconsciously tightened the few fingers on Benson's back, then covered it up with laughter and a light pat:
"Okay, Benson."
Feel sorry,
I really have to go home.
