Mystery: Starting from the Shadow World

Chapter 24 The 2th Tarot Meeting

Chapter 24 The Second Tarot Meeting

The following morning, Zotland Street.

Philip got off the carriage and went to Blackthorn Security Company. He pushed open the door and went straight in, where he saw Rosanne picking up her cup and beginning to savor her coffee.

Out of politeness, he stood there and waited until the other person had taken a sip from her cup before speaking, "Good morning, Rosanne."

"Good morning, Lawrence." Rosanne's eyes were smiling. "I heard from the captain that you'll be officially taking on clerical work from now on."

She seemed far too pleased with herself to say that. Philip's eyelids twitched, and he nodded in response before continuing, "Where is the captain? I need to ask him for permission to do something."

"I just took Klein downstairs."

After speaking, Rosanne took another sip of coffee.

go down?

Has Klein already taken his medicine?

Philip nodded, then stepped into the inner room. Behind him, Rosanne called out with a hint of anticipation, "Lawrence, I asked Old Neil to arrange an exam for you later. You have to do your best!"

"What!?" Philip asked in astonishment.

Rosanne coughed awkwardly twice. "It was the captain who said that I can arrange your work based on everyone's situation, so I want to see your actual situation through the test."

Philip remained silent, knowing he wouldn't get any answers, so he decided to ask Old Neil later.

He went into the inner room and down the stairs to the basement, but bumped into Klein, who was on his way back to Blackthorn Security Company.

The two exchanged a glance, nodded to each other, said nothing more, and turned away.

Upon reaching the underground, Philip encountered Dunn at the crossroads, who was standing there, preparing to turn back. Dunn stared intently at Philip as he approached, his gaze deep and unfathomable, and said:

"Lawrence, what's the matter?"

"Captain, can I still back out of my application for the 'Madman's Extraordinary' certification?"

This answer seemed to have taken Dunn by surprise. He froze for a few seconds, then his gray eyes grew even deeper. "What do you want to exchange for now, or do you want to accumulate the merits you've earned this time?"

"Golden pounds".

A few seconds of silence fell over the area.

As Philip cautiously observed out of the corner of his eye, he noticed that Dunn's lips had unconsciously curled up slightly, only to quickly disappear, almost making Philip think it was just his imagination.

At this moment, Dunn's calm and gentle voice rang out: "In principle, it's not possible, since the application has already been submitted and approved, and even the materials have been distributed."

"But," he chuckled, "now that it's been distributed, I can take charge of the scheduling. Who knows if we'll need it in the future?"

"So?" Philip blinked.

"I'll take you to Mrs. Oriana, and you can apply for £600 from her," Dunn said.

After saying this, he led Philip away from there and back into the upper corridor. In the outermost office on the right-hand side, they met Mrs. Oriana, who was in charge of financial management for the security company.

She appeared to be in her early thirties, with a delicate and elegant smile on her face. Upon hearing Dunn's request, she nodded and said to Philip, "Do you have your own account?"

"account?"

"You'd better be prepared," Oriana smiled. "Otherwise, all the cash Blackthorn Security Company has probably won't be enough to raise 600 pounds."

"I'm sorry, it was my oversight."

Philip bowed slightly in apology.

At the same time, he also deeply engraved the idea in his mind that he would go to the bank to open an account after get off work, and this matter took even more priority than the tarot meeting held at 3 pm.

He could attend the Tarot readings every week, but not getting the £600 was making him feel miserable every minute of every day.

After the matter was temporarily suspended, Philip watched him return to his office, then went down the stairs to the lower floor and went to Old Neil, who was on duty at the armory, to inquire about the "exam".

"Oh, that one."

Upon hearing this, Old Neil smiled somewhat helplessly and explained, "Rosanne seems to have heard from Dunn that you have a sufficient understanding of the occult, so she wants you to pass an exam to prove it."

"If you do pass, you can skip the occult course and will be added to the armory duty roster, responsible for guarding the armory all night. Take it easy, Lawrence. After that, you'll have a day off."

Philip said expressionlessly, "I don't think my knowledge of the occult is solid enough."

"I think so too." Old Neil nodded in deep agreement, and then asked about the knowledge Philip possessed.

After hearing the answer, he remained silent for several seconds before continuing:

"If you've mastered all of these, it means your foundation is quite good. Next, you just need to master Elvish, Dragonish, and some ritual magic."

Not a single mistake, not a single poem, not a single post, not a single piece of content, not a single look!

"Besides that, I don't have much else to teach you, well, of course, not including my special tricks, haha."

Ultimately, with Philip's wishes and Rosanne's expectations in mind, Old Neil successfully compromised and set aside two hours each weekday afternoon for the occult course.

In the end, it was still two hours. Philip sighed, thinking that learning more wouldn't be a bad thing, so he agreed directly. After discussing the specific time, which was from 3:30 to 5:30, he returned to the upper floor to familiarize himself with the work.

2:55 PM.

As the clicking of the keyboard stopped, Philip leaned back, covered his upper face with his palm, and sighed wearily, "Ah."

He took a few deep breaths and looked at Rosanne, who was standing beside him, too exhausted to put on a resentful expression anymore, and said, "Rosanne, I've finished my work. I'm going to rest for a bit."

"Mmm," Rosanne replied weakly, resting her chin on her hand, then mumbled:

"I never imagined I'd be sitting here working. Why didn't Cohen and Viola become office workers? Sigh~"

"Just these last few things. After I finish them, I'm going to get a good night's sleep in front of the armory during my shift."

Philip gave a perfunctory smile, propped himself up, opened the door to the civilian staff office, walked into the lounge across the corridor, lay down on the sofa bed in the corner, and pretended to take a nap.

As time passed, a deep red light suddenly surged forth like a tide, engulfing his entire body.

Above the gray fog, there was a magnificent palace that seemed to be the residence of a king of giants.

Philip's vision gradually cleared, and he saw the "Justice" lady with smooth blonde hair opposite him, and the "Hanged Man" gentleman beside him whose deep blue hair alone made him smell like seafood.

At the same time, there was also that great being who sat at the head of the table, unfathomable, mysterious and unknown, "Mr. Fool".
